What a disappointment. Been using Phillips Sonicare for years and decided to try Oral-b's top of the line io10. You would think that for nearly $450 with taxes, etc. that the software would actually work. Not only does the brush constantly disconnect (which forces you to reset both brush and stand EVERYTIME), the tracking system is horrible. It shows the complete wrong quadrant and only follows occasionally, causing me to have to overbrush and spend 3-5 minutes instead of the recommended 2-minutes to "complete" all areas or end up with a poor score, even though I covered all areas as directed for TWICE as long. On top of that, the app records sessions but gets all the graphs wrong, making it pretty useless. Oh, but it WILL remind you to BUY more brush heads. That ... MoreWhat a disappointment. Too bad, as it could have been a great product. How about this, Oral-b, try testing it first before releasing to public and conning people into PAYING to test system to report errors for you. I regret purchase, especially after discovering I've been damaging my enamel, which doesn't grow back. You just end up with yellow teeth. Don't waste your money.

We bought the iO Series 10 as we wanted all of the coloured lights and gimmicks so that our children would enjoy using it. This toothbrush is wonderful, I highly recommend buying any brush from the iO series (they all have the same toothbrushing action) as it gives a terrific clean. The black colour looks awesome. The only problem is that I like to use the Gentle Care replacement brush heads (not just the regular replacement heads) and these are not available in the black colour in Australia yet. You can still buy the regular replacement heads in black, but not the gentle care ones. I am very surprised and disappointed that Oral B don't make this gentle care head in black readily available. The toothbrush was very expensive and the top of the line model, and all matching accessories should be easily available. I don't want to buy a white replacement head to put on my black toothbrush! The brushing zone indicator (the coloured lights on the base and using the App) doesn't work properly. There seems to be a lag with the sensor, so that it gets confused as to which zone I am actually brushing. This renders this feature a bit useless. I really don't mind, as I only look at the brushing timer, but if you are buying the product for this feature, be prepared to be a bit disappointed. I love that the base has a clock on it - it's fantastic to always know the time in the bathroom. I only have one other complaint - I love the magnetic connection which attaches the toothbrush to the base, however, because I have young children, they tend to knock it over easily. Overall, I'm happy with the toothbrush - it looks magnificent, it brushes beautifully and my kids love the lights, however I would consider buying maybe the iO series 9 or 8 next time, which gives the same brushing action and coloured lights, but without the brushing zone indicator which isn't perfect. Also, it just isn't good enough that the black gentle care replacement heads for this toothbrush are not available.

I'm so disappointed with product and would not recommend it.

Overpriced gimmick

Firstly, if you pay full price for this thing, you need your head read. Even at the frequent half-price specials, it's an astronomically expensive toothbrush. The difference between the iO10 and 9 is the charger - it's bigger, with a clock display and brushing guide lights on the charger so you can brush phone-free (talking crazy, I know! Brushing without a phone - who'd have thunk it?!). However, the charger gives much less brushing detail than the app - it only shows the segments you're brushing, whereas the app guides you to brush front/back/chewing surfaces. The 'AI' appears to be a pretty basic position sensor to work out which bit of your mouth you're working on. It's easily fooled, not particularly accurate, and certainly not intelligent. It does clean very ... MoreFirstly, if you pay full price for this thing, you need your head read. The 'AI' appears to be a pretty basic position sensor to work out which bit of your mouth you're working on. It's easily fooled, not particularly accurate, and certainly not intelligent. It does clean very well (which I'd expect at this price point), and the different modes from super-sensitive to intense mean you'll probably find something that suits you. The pressure sensor is possibly the most useful 'clever' feature - the LED ring glows red if you're pressing too hard, and green when you get it right.I'm not convinced that the Artificial UnIntelligence adds anything that a simple segment timer doesn't. ie, spend around 30s brushing each of the six quadrants of your mouth, front, back and top of teeth, and I expect you'll achieve the same result.I can imagine that brushing to the app might make small reluctant brushers a bit more keen to clean their teeth, but for any adult with a cortex, it's not worth the extravagant premium. You're also locked in to buying expensive replacement heads - keep an eye out for specials on these as well. I've paid as little as $9 for two (they're usually over $30).If I were to buy again, I'd get one of the lesser iQ models without all the AI marketing nonsense. You'd end up with teeth that are just as clean, and your phone won't have drool on the screen.

I’ve only used it 3 times so far and this is the best toothbrush I’ve ever had! The price tag made me kinda put off by it, but I do not regret one penny spent. I’ve always been an oral b toothbrush gal, and seeing the price for it was crazy! All the features plus the app is perfect! I love that you can use the app or charging doc to track the brushing. Especially the built in timer and reminder to switch heads after 3 months. I don’t think I’ll ever switch back to a manual toothbrush again. I’m getting braces again in a couple of days and wanted to opt for something more ortho pro and this is it! I’m so amazed by everything this toothbrush has to offer! Also, it’s SOO powerful other electric toothbrushes left it always feeling like it didn’t really clean my teeth ... MoreI’ve only used it 3 times so far and this is the best toothbrush I’ve ever had! Worst purchase I made
14 February 2024

Bought this July of last year, so this review is months in the making. This thing is not worth the money. Brushing my teeth has turned into such a hassle. The whole time, water and toothpaste is pouring down the toothbrush. I have to hold my arm at an angle or else I get a mess running down my arm. I have to hold my head over the sink or else it pours down my chest. All this while just using a pea sized drop of toothpaste. I am on my second brush, so maybe 6 months in and I am seeing mold already growing all over the inside of the brush. This is absolutely disgusting. When using the app, the bluetooth is so wonky that it will show the left side of my mouth being brushed while I am actually brushing the right side. I don't even use it anymore and just count the time ... MoreBought this July of last year, so this review is months in the making. This thing is not worth the money. Connecting the brush was easy and went through the first time. The app will give a lot of information and coaching on how you're brushing but I find simply using the base and watching the light queues and timer as well as the brush itself to be better for me. Head swapping is easy BUT why oh why do we not track multiple users by head swaps??? I would think this could be as easy as adding a small switch on the head to a user 1 or user 2 position OR simply allowing you to choose a second user on the brush itself. If this setting exists I cannot locate it.Charging using the base is nice and I get the proprietary charge there BUT why did they not make the travel case/charger either include a battery since it uses the same charger port as the base OR better yet use a standard USB-C charger port? When one is traveling it's easy to forget that proprietary charger but everyone has their USB-C charger and if not it's super easy to find one. This is my biggest gripe on the IO-10.As for how clean my teeth feel after using the IO-10 all I can say is I am impressed, the real time coaching on brushing and the action of the brush has really helped my teeth feel cleaner than I thought possible. Other than the charger shortcoming I am super happy with the IO-10 and am welcoming a new age, for me at least, in tooth care!

I love almost everything about the Oral-B iO series 10 rechargeable toothbrush. It comes with a handle, 4 brush heads, charging cord, charging base, and a hard shell case. The round brush head oscillates and vibrates and it fits nicely around the surfaces of each tooth. Every 30 seconds you get a short stutter that signals to move on to the next quadrant and after 2 minutes you get a longer stutter that signals that you should have completed all 4 quadrants of your mouth. If you turn off the toothbrush before the 2 minutes a little sad face illuminates on the handle. If you use too much pressure you will see a red ring of light on the handle, too little pressure, a white ring light and the right amount of pressure shows a green ring of light. There are 7 smart setting, Daily Care, Sensitive, Gum Care, Intense Clean, Super Sensitive, Tongue Clean, and Whitening. Each of the settings has a slight difference in intensity and if you are new to electric toothbrushes I would suggest starting off on the Super Sensitive setting and work your way up until you get use to the vibration of the brush. The handle also shows you how much of a charge the toothbrush has so you know when it's time to recharge it. My toothbrush arrived 43% charged and it took an hour to bring it up to 100% which I consider quick and the unit holds a charge perfectly. I found that it needed to be recharged after 7 days of using it twice a day for 2 minutes or so each time. I found that my teeth felt nice and smooth like I had just had them cleaned at the dentist. The round brush head makes it easy to clean the back side of your back molars. The hard shell case is nice and holds the handle and one brush head. One end of the case has a charging port so you can charge the handle while it is in the case but it takes twice as long to charge. There is a green light on the bottom of the case that blinks green while it is charging and the light goes out after it is fully charged. I found the placement of this light to be in an odd place because you can't see it while it is charging and you can't simply turn it upside down to charge it because it won't charge with the case upside down. It also comes with a iOsense charger where you just plug that in and sit your handle on it. I found the handle doesn't fit securely on the charging base. The instruction booklet says it is magnetic, but it must be a weak magnet because the slightest touch or bump of the base causes the handle to fall off of it. You can sync the toothbrush with a free Oral-B app, however, it takes quite a bit of time to set everything up and requires your cell phone, charging base, cord, and toothbrush to all be on the counter. The whole thing becomes time consuming, confusing, and frustrating. I could not get it to work properly and gave up. I just want to brush my teeth but I don't want to spend hours in the morning and evening doing it.

Furthermore, the base displays the upper and lower areas of the mouth which help to guide you through the brushing process. Each part lights up white once you have brushed sufficiently in that area. A red light indicates brushing that is too hard and green light is just right amount of pressure. These lights can also be seen on the handle itself. Overall, this brush is a superb brush to provide instant feedback on your brushing habits and keeps you in tune with how you brush. I am eager to see its efficacy at my next dentist visit. Aside from the inaccuracy of the areas of the mouth I am brushing, another con is that the handle does not hold well onto the base which can cause it to accidentally fall onto the floor. This concerns me since we have tile floors and this may cause this brush to break.

[Rewarded Review] Would not recommend!

It actually pains me to right this review, because I do love how well this brush cleans my teeth. It definitely gives you the “fresh-from-the-dentist” clean feeling, and even helps remove staining. The issue is not with the performance, it is solely related to the battery. The batteries fail to take a full charge after a time, and it has happened to multiple brushes.I bought the IO 9, and it failed at about the 1-year mark. The display shows the battery between 30-40%, but it dies in the middle of brushing your teeth.I am religious about properly charging the battery. I never put it on the charger until it is under 10%, and never take it off until it’s fully charged.I liked the IO 9’s performance, so (after my frustration reached its peak with battery issue) ... MoreIt actually pains me to right this review, because I do love how well this brush cleans my teeth. I hoped that they would have corrected this issue with the new generation. It actually turned out to be worse. I am a little over 3 months in, and it has started doing the same thing.Sadly, I will not be purchasing anymore Oral B products. I have not contacted warranty, and do not plan to. I’m not interested in going through the hassle of shipping the return, or waiting to receive a new one. I’m afraid the whole scenario is just totally unacceptable when you pay $400 for a toothbrush. Also, for those wondering, there is no real difference between the 9 and the 10 (X). The 10 has a little different paint job, and the charging base has lights on it that are supposed to track your progress cleaning the different sectors of your mouth. It works properly about 25% of the time. Oh, it has a digital clock/timer too. There is no (zero, none) difference in the actual functions or performance.Just my two cents, which I’m told is worth about $3.50. :)
