Most importantly: it does its job as a blender very well. No issues on that front.There are however 2 reasons why even my 3 star rating feels generous. The first is that it is the loudest blender I've ever had. The "smoothie" button uses the highest speed setting, and you better make sure everyone in the house is okay with being woken up. The other issue is that the rubber band around the lid gets dirt trapped under it. I removed it to clean it, and after putting it back the lid has even more difficulty fitting than before. You now have to put some serious effort into pushing it down.

When my old Breville blender stopped working, I was dubious about what is now on offer as my old blender had a lovely glass jug - which you can't get now. I also did not want to spend too much as the blender is mainly used for breakfast smoothies only but I needed it to be strong enough for ice crushing. We have had this new blender now for a week and used it each morning. I have been very happy with the power of the blender and the jug is very nice (though not glass!). The blender has good safety features and is easy to clean especially around the blades which are a little higher up so its easy to clean it properly at the base of the jug. All up, we are very happy with the blender especially in this price range with many other brands costing up to six times more.

My daughter and I purchased this blender for my 81 year old mother. We needed a blender that was moderately priced, high powered and self cleaning so she wouldn't have to handle the blades. This one fit the bill. The ring to lift off the lid is a very nice touch and helpful for her too. She has so far only made smoothies with it, but will soon venture into other recipes. I had high hopes when I purchased this blender. At first, it met my expectations. It did not take long for the blender container to leak a dark metallic smelling mess through the bottom of the blade assembly. I called customer service. They were responsive and polite. I ended up purchasing another blender container in hopes that my first one was simply defective. Not long after, and with light use, my replacement container has the same leak. Same metallic smelling mess. In most cases two failure do not indicate a trend. However, I suspect this is either a manufacturing or design failure.If the containers did not leak I would rate the blender a 4 or 5. Sadly, this is not the case. If you want to spend $70+ dollars to replace your jug, give this one a shot.
I purchased this blender to create smoothies during a period when I would not be able to eat solid food after gum surgery. I started using it right away and all of the reviews I read were very accurate. It is a very powerful blender. The function buttons are perfect for performing the function they are designated for and the other buttons for Chopping, etc., are very useful for general meal preparation purposes.I don't have the same issue that some users mentioned about the blender moving around on the counter and walking. Mine does sort of wobble, but it stays pretty much in the same spot that I start the function in.I am very happy that I did not compromise and go for a cheaper brand, this has turned out to be a great purchase.
I’ve been a fan of the Breville brand for quite a while! And, when my old blender gave out, I new I wanted a quality blender for my daily smoothies! This little blender is mighty, and chops and blends my smoothies in a fraction of the time as my old one! It blends everything to a silky smooth texture, I can’t wait to make hummus for my next gathering! It is lightweight and easy to clean! I have a small kitchen so this being a smaller profile item is perfect for my needs! I love the self cleaning feature, and the pitcher can be submerged, and placed into the dishwasher if you want! The lid fits very tight onto the top of the pitcher, so the loop (helps with removal) on the top of the lid takes a little getting used to, but I’m managing fine! I LOVE the preset Smoothie settings. There are two. But that is not all. The design is so thoughtfully made. The things I appreciate: 1. The way the pitcher fits on the base. No twist, turn, did I set it on right. You just set it on and it settles in one of three position grooves. 2. The easy grab rings on the lid (which fits tightly) and the plug. I have arthritis and these are a godsend. 3. The self clean mode. I have owned this blender for almost 3 years, and I use it every day to make a breakfast smoothie. It is absolutely perfect for me. I dump in the ingredients, hit the "smoothie" button and it's breakfast. When I'm done I dump in some water, hit the "clean" button and it's ready to the dishwasher. And it goes in the dishwasher without being disassembled which is a real plus.I bought this blender to replace a 30 year old Waring bar blender which was, let's face it, a real looker. I love the Breville products and have used them over the years. Guess you could say, that loyalty remains confident in the product. The product seems to work well when new and after a period of time of moderate use, the performance declines to malfunctions and smells like motor burning. It is much like an electrical issue with motor giving off smoke. As this issue began, seemed minor and now to the point where I am unable to use my Breville without safety concerns. It is possible that this is a problem with the plastic molding and the steel metal gears making contact during the blending.This is only my 4th or 5th Breville blender and maybe time to move to next generation. I don't think this can be replaced again.
Wow! I've been living in the dark ages. I've had my Oster blender for many years but it broke thisyear....soooooo I treated my self to a brand new one; more than I would ever imagine spending on a blender but well worth the price! I love the simplicity of it and the fact that it has it's own cleaning cycle is a winner! I also love that the blade is built into the container vs. it being built into the base.The cleaning cycle is amazing....give it a quick rinse, add 2 cups of warm water and a drop of dish soap and watch the magic happen for 1 timed minute. Genius!!! Thank you Breville!
