Recently purchased 2 more of these toasters 1 for myself and one for my gluten free husband (have to keep our wheat and wheat free bread separated). The previous ones we both had were 1 year, and 7 months old.The problem with all 4 toasters is that even when toasting on maximum temperature the bread is barely toasted and we either have to use the 'bit more' option once or twice or put it down again and watch the darn thing doesn't over do it.We thought with the first 2 purchased it was just bad luck but on day one of the second 2 we had the same problem. Not prepared to pay $600+ for a dualit toaster so just putting up with it but not impressed!

Got it for decent price on sale and it’s a lovely looking shiny appliance. The actual length of the slots don’t go to the ends of the toaster so you can justabout fits 2 slices of regular loaf bread. As others have said, it does burn the edges of the toast at times so the bit more feature just burns it that bit more. You really don’t need the setting on more than 2-3 for golden toast. Careful, the top of the toaster gets very hot to touch.

Bought this toaster August 2019, stopped working in Nov 2020 after only 15 months! The spring mechanism broke, so the lever wouldn't stay down. Would expect an 80$ toaster to last a bit longer, was willing to spend that extra bit more for a good brand. As it was just outside of the 1 year warranty I made a complaint to Breville and they offered me a 40% discount if I purchased another Breville toaster from their website. This gesture of goodwill restored some of the faith in the product name. Unfortunately, I have seen a steep decline in quality of products over the last years even those of formerly reliable and reputable brands. To think my parents had their toaster for 20 years!

Excellent toaster. Cooks the toast quickly so that outside is toasted while inside is still fluffy, unlike many others which leave the toast dry.Extra 30 second button is really useful to add a touch more without having to watch it to prevent burning.Fruit loaf button is useful too.Only criticism is that it is a touch shallow for the larger loaves of bread that we like to buy (eg Tip Top 'The One.' Top of slice doesn't get the heat because it sticks up a bit too high in the slot. Can also be a touch uneven in toasting, but not significant.Overall, we love it.
We were after a toaster that is simple, works well, has a few functions without the bells and whistles. Also, our last toaster sounded like a fire alarm going off when it popped the toast up which we really wanted to avoid this time - no alarm on this one. This ticks all the boxes at a reasonable price. Overall, very happy with it.
Happy with it for the price. But my last Breville smart toaster was better. This one is fussy with the bread. Depending on the type of bread it sometimes doesnt toast evenly. But overall for the money its okay. Im learning how to judge the types of bread. I liked my Breville smart toaster better. It lasted 6 years but it was only a 2 slice. This is a 4 slice.
This is a nice Toaster, looks good, toasts pretty evenly, fits in a small area.If you don't keep bread frozen, it does the job. I do need to preheat mine, even on max and defrost. If you have some space to keep the toaster its pretty decent I find the crumb catcher redundantly shallow, or it doesn't cover the area or something, I need to clean crumbs on almost every use.Toasters can generally last for 10 yrs, so while $80 for this guy is reasonable, going the extra $130 mile for a better toaster would have payed off the inconvenience of crap I don't need to think about.Delivery was good, product came in good packaging, in good condition, in great time. Not that this was unadvertised, I've only just realised that these are things I wish I was looking for.
I gravitated to this bottom of the range Breville appliance because more highly priced toasters seemed a ridiculous indulgence for such a simple process and this one offered to toast without needing to be the size of a small oven. It does toast bread as it claims - wow! The “little bit more” and “frozen” features are one-day wonders, really, as you still have to experiment with how long it takes to produce toast to your liking and you can then leave the dial on that setting. My main disappointment (admittedly a very first world problem) is that it is advertised as having “2 extra deep and wide toasting slots” to accommodate the wider breads on the market but is not quite wide enough for the bread I buy, requiring a portion of the side crust to be cut off to fit into ... MoreI gravitated to this bottom of the range Breville appliance because more highly priced toasters seemed a ridiculous indulgence for such a simple process and this one offered to toast without needing to be the size of a small oven. I guess you have to fork out more dough (no pun intended) for the extra centimetre of slot required to accommodate such bread that more expensive models are cut out to provide.
We have called our toaster Steven…. Because it rhymes with uneven. I have loved my Breville toasters in the past and this time wanted a long 4 slicer so I could toast big slices of sourdough. Steven the Uneven toaster is terrible. It either burns the bread to a crisp or only toasts one side of the bread or barely toasts at all despite being turned up to max. It does whatever it pleases. Steven is temperamental and no one in the house likes it. For $99 I guess I got what I paid for but seriously, Steven, you have one job. Surely it can’t be that hard.
happy user of Brevillle products in my kitchen. However, this toaster, even though I like the layout making it possible to toast larger bread slices. However my first one started toasting only one side (the central heating elements stopped working). Sometimes you get a faulty device so was happy to exchange for a new one. However another 4 months down the line the second one started having the exact same issue. For me this is a. bit more than a coincidence. Not good enough. Decided to get a refund instead and unfotunetlly have to look for another toaster.
