I bought this kettle with ease from Argos. Although I really like the design and performance of this kettle, what I don’t like is the plastic smell after each boiling. I can only assume it is coming from the plastic water gauge as that is the only plastic inside. It is not only an unpleasant and concerning smell, but it means that any water remaining after boiling has to be thrown away, kettle rinsed then refilled. What a waste of water! If it continues I will return the item. I would like to know Breville’s explanation please.

Well what can I say!I was due to get a new kettle because id had enough with how long my old one took to boil.Then I was lucky enough to try this gorgeous one.The second I opened it I loved it. The design is definitely good for me. Im regards to silver/grey. It was really cold when putting the water in and you could feel the difference. Then within seconds of turning it on. It started warming up super fast. I couldn’t believe it. I absolutely love how you watch the light fade from blue (cold) to red(hot) and not only that the light doesn’t cut straight out once the kettle has finished. It stays red letting you know whether the kettle would need to be boiledAgain. Completely worth it and would highly recommend

The light is really a nice feature as I am one of those who press the start button again if I didn’t witness it boil and stop infront of me. Highly recommend this kettle, it is light weight and the lid comes off easily. It is a lovely brushed steel which doesn't show up finger marks when touched. I love how the kettle will light up red to let you know its boiled/hot - when its cold it stays a grey colour. Its a handy feature so you don't keep re boiling the kettle. Water is lovely and hot just the right temperature for making a cuppa.
Very happy with this kettle. Nice and light. Love the lights - I always used to reboil the kettle if I'd gone away and come back after it had clicked off. Now I can see it's still hot enough. I like having a lid that totally comes off - so that it's easy to fill and rinse out if needed. Some people may prefer a lid which clicks open with a button - so that's personal preference. Boils quickly and keeps the water hot for a long time.
I love a simple and easy to use & clean kettle.This Breville Edge Still Hot Kettle certainly does the job. It looks very expensive with its brushed stainless steel finish, which I find super easy to clean and robust to last longer than a fully plastic kettle which always shows hard water stains. the water heats up very quickly and stays hot. the handle is nice and long and a good distance from the body of the kettle, when its hot this matters alot!The only thing i didn't like is the size of the knob on the lid. i wish it was a little taller for my fingers to easy open. especially if the kettle is hot .
I got this kettle based on it's name of "Still Hot Kettle", where I expected it to "stay hot", which it does not do sadly. As such this review will be a bit of a mixed bag. As a kettle it is quite good, I really like the design, it looks lovely, and I love the brushed metal look of it. The colour changing feature is good, I would imagine that those hard of hearing would benefit seeing the colour change from white to red as it gets hotter. The key feature to this kettle is that it stays red while the water remains above 80 Degrees Centrigrade, meaning that as long as it is red you do not have to reboil, a feature that Breville says makes it environmentally friendly. It’s a really smart and handy kettle to have!I like the idea of saving energy as it’s show you when boiled water is still hot enough to do drink, without re-boiling. We using it in our office so it’s really good feature. Non slip base is really good thing. I like stainless steel finish, easy to keep clean. We do great amount of drinks in office, so built in limescale filter is great. Great kettle to use at home and in the office!
I love the red light to indicate it's still above 80c. I used to always reboil, but now I don't need to. The last kettle I had for 10 years so difficult to judge quality and value for money. We had a ÂŁ10 voucher too so only cost us ÂŁ30. The price at George was better then Amazon though.
I love how lightweight and stylish this kettle is. It's great that the kettle stays illuminated, so you know the water is hot enough to use. It's great for saving energy and is better overall for the environment. Many times I've re boiled the water in other kettles, as I didn't feel it was sufficiently hot. I really like the swivel base, which makes it easy to switch the kettle on too.
