It's been great in the recent humidity to prevent mould growth and help with sleep. You have to use it for multiple long times for a few weeks, as the drier air will take moisture out of any mattresses, carpets, sofas etc. Once this has calmed, it requires fewer short usages to remove the humidity from the air only. The negatives are You will get a few 3-5cm spots of water (hardly surprising!) when it's moved after use. The side handles are very shallow, and it takes long arms and heavy hands to move it up or down stairs. We borrowed our son's 2.5L unit before we bought this one and there was more depth in the handles.

I've read a lot of reviews about it this product leaking and it doesn't surprise me. Upon opening and attempting to use my newly purchased machine, the machine was incorrectly saying that the water tank was full. The machine was unuseable. I think the way the machine detects water is flawed. It's disappointing because I have a breville coffee machine that I love and use all the time but this machine's build quality/design just seems subpar. I returned it and bought the Delonghi which was a little bit more expensive but works great.

I bought this not long a go and No water seem so be coming out of the hoses into the reservoir I have set up. It has not been humid really so could this be due to it not being humid or something? What does the pump button do? I picked up the machine carerfully and put it on a flat higher surface to make sure it drains the tank. I guess when the tank is full the light goes red yeh or if it off balance? I guess because the humidity is low it might not have reached the siphon hose. Id like to turn to someone from Breville to explain this machine too me please.

This is a great dehumidifier with an air purifier as well! It’s great to be able to use just the air purifier when it’s not humid. The combined function has been great with all the bush fire smoke and poor air quality in NSW. There is an relative air humidity percentage shown and lights which easily show if the humidity in the room is a comfortable level. In just under a month it’s removed over 80 litres of water from the air on the low setting. The only two things I’d be mindful of is that the air coming back out of the dehumidifier is warm and dry, and can increase the temperature in the room. However for me, dry heat is preferable than high humidity levels. However for me, dry heat is preferable than high humidity levels. The second thing is that if you are collecting the water in the machine, when it is full it beeps quite loudly for a while. This is annoying when it’s the middle of the night! There is an option to connect a tube to have the water go directly into a drain or sink, but I haven’t tested this option yet. Overall, a great purchase!
It blows my mind how much moisture this removes from the air. The windows arent wet on the mornings anymore. Cooking smells seem to disappear quicker. The laundry and bathroom are condensation free.We run it in the day or evening in our problem areas then switch off at bedtime. So glad I went for the larger capacity, it was a bit more than I anticipated spending but well worth it.Only thing to be careful of is a slight puddle (which may just be from moving it while full) I usually just avoid having it on the carpet just in case. To be fair, youre only using it when theres a moisture issue in the first place. Benefit outweighs this slight inconvenience by far.
2 speed settings on fan, high speed = crazy loud, low speed = also crazy loud. Night mode turns off the display and lights, which seems somewhat pointless because I sleep with my eyes closed, but I can't get to sleep because of the noise. Night mode does not reduce the fan speed any more than low (crazy loud). Does not come with anything that I would consider a 'smart' feature. No connectivity, no programmable timing other than count down to turn off.
To make a long story short this machine works, and works well. Sitting in the hallway of a three bedroom it has no problems keeping the humidity down in all three bedrooms, as well as dealing with teenagers long showers, or that boiling pasta pot steam. Yes, the laundry feature (read highest setting) does work, allowing school uniforms to drip dry no worries. Mildew and musk are no longer an issue and the perceived comfort it brings is vast. Is it perfect perfect Well, no. The User Interface takes some getting used to and relies a bit too much on its elegant simplicity in essence this is a plug and play device which works without being too complicated, just switch it on. Regrettably the instructions made it seem a bit more sophisticated than that. Letting it run on ... MoreTo make a long story short this machine works, and works well. The User Interface takes some getting used to and relies a bit too much on its elegant simplicity in essence this is a plug and play device which works without being too complicated, just switch it on. Regrettably the instructions made it seem a bit more sophisticated than that. Letting it run on automatic works a treat, switch to laundry setting when needed. Permanent drainage with pump is possible, but why deprive yourself of the excellent mobility the device offers emptying the tank works just as well. Similarly the dehumidifiers efficiency can mean it is noisy - but close a door to the part of the house it is in and you barely notice. There is a lot to love about this device, chiefly that it gets the job done. Smallish for the volume of air it can handle, with some very appealing trimmings it need not be shy about improving your quality of life if excessive damp is a nuisance to you. No, it does not connect to your phone - its not smart that way - nor does it violate the laws of physics - a fan sucking air through a box will make noise. However what it does - dehumidify - it does extremely well.
My second unit (which I received as a replacement for my first unit which leaked) also started leaking after a couple of months of use and even though it extracted barely any moisture from the air. It was as though all water extracted was immediately dumped onto the carpet. Breville customer service was difficult the second time around and asked for photos of the leaks. I don’t know how you can photograph water leaks from joints in white plastic at the bottom of a unit? This product is way more hassle than it’s worth
PROS: It works very well, we have it running 24/7 and it removes many litres of waterCONS: very heavy (13kg approx). It has wheels but it is hard to move on the carpet. Very loud, even in the "quiet" mode. It is impossible to sleep with it in the same room. The water tank gets stuck sometimes, not very easy to remove and put back in.
I now have 2 of these Smart Dry Ultimate Dehumidifiers. Both had problems with leaking from a split internal pump pipe, which I fixed myself using the supplied pump drain pipe (you need a 3 blade security bit to take off one panel). This seems to be a common manufacturing fault with these, as others have reported water leaks when they use the pump. The gravity drain works fine out-of-the-box if you dont need the pump. Other than the initial pump leaking problem (which isnt too hard to fix yourself if youre competent and have the necessary tools), the unit works really well and can remove more humidity than an Ionmax 632 that Ive replaced with one of these. They do move a lot of air, even on low speed, which makes a bit of noise and so I wouldnt run one in a bedroom ... MoreI now have 2 of these Smart Dry Ultimate Dehumidifiers. Both of mine are running 24x7 and doing a great job. Its great to be able to set the level of humidity that you want - the unit reaches it pretty quickly and maintains it well. The humidity level that it shows is pretty accurate too.
