A good replacement!

So we needed a replacement toaster and thought we could try a four slice toaster with two long slots so we could toast sourdough as well. This one is great, everything fits - two long sourdough slices or four normal slices. Nice design and I love the "little bit more" button! Really pleased with our purchase

I bought this toaster 2 weeks ago & I am disappointed! I had a Breville toaster before, it was the fully auto one...fantastic! I didn’t by the same again because of the price...ridiculous! The new one, you have to where gloves or clean the outside every time you use it. The old was was just good old white. But Breville don't seem to make that any more. The new toasters saving feature is....it does good toast!

I purchased this toaster in May. Having previously owned a couple of Breville toasters I have been extremely disappointed in my purchase. The mechanism is very rough, the lift and look feature is jerky and sticks like a cheap $10 toaster from the supermarket. The toaster also seems to take twice as long to toast the bread as our last model. I'm sure previous models allowed you to press the 'fruit bread/frozen' button before you lowered the bread but this model requires you to press only once the bread is cooking, which makes it easy to forget if you're in a hurry. This is the second Breville product I've purchased in the last year that I'm disappointed in. It's very obvious that Breville's quality has dropped in recent years. I won't make the same mistake again.

Disappointing.
20 March 2023

Bought the previous model. Poor design as cheap plastic power lever sticks out and easily broke off soon after we got it. (Lives in a cupboard not on the bench). I see they moved the controls to one end as must have been a problem for them all. Only lasted 3 years and now won’t toast as lever won’t stay down. Our last toaster lasted 15 years. No warranty. Breville Support says to buy a new one. Will look elsewhere

Don’t waste your money

This toaster does not work the way you need it to. We have it on one of the lowest settings but the toast still burns. When we toast from frozen and use the designated button on the lowest setting, it still burns and we actually have to make it eject manually. The exterior of the toaster is also too hot to touch after use. Also doesn’t accomodate non-standard bread sizes - our bread slices often get stuck when we lift the leaver.

Hot!
10 April 2023

This toaster is sleek and has some great functions. The light to dark function is a little touchy. Recommend starting very low. Only downside is the lift n look function will burn your fingers if used after toasting a few slices as the unit gets very hot. You must anchor your finger underneath not on top. My previous cool touch toaster had all the same features plus crumpet setting and the lift n look was a button, not a lever. This was a better unit in that regard. Kinda wish I had bought a non stainless unit.

Pretty average and disappointing
26 June 2022

Needed a long slot toaster for homemade loaves. Disappointed in this - the wire filaments that do the actual toasting seem to be very uneven in their operation with patches of the filaments not even lighting up let alone emitting heat. Maybe because they are so long the current doesnt travel along them efficiently Who knows. Makes for a very uneven result with tops of crusts burning while the bread isnt even coloured at all. Also the pop-up is EXTREMELY loud, sudden and tinny sounding - makes us all jump! I was looking forward to levelling up after our regular sized pop-up carked it - but have been sadly disappointed

Slow Dry Toast
16 September 2021

We wanted a 4-slice toaster for our family, and this looked perfect.I love the four slots, and I think it looks nice. I don't love how slow it is, or the quality of the toast it makes. It's a lot slower than our old toaster. The setting goes all the way to 6, but we haven't needed it past 2.5 yet. I have no idea how long 6 would take but I'd guess you need to put the toast on the night before, or set the alarm for 3am.I've had to completely re-design my morning routine around this toaster. Formerly I would start the eggs, then when they were half-done I'd slam on the toast. The dream was always to have the toast pop up 30 seconds before the eggs were done, so I could butter it just in time for some perfectly-cooked eggs on toast. My new routine involves putting the toast on, going to the cupboard and getting out the cast iron pan, preheating it for a minute, cracking the eggs into a bowl, fishing out bits of shell, then pouring the eggs into the pan, waiting anxiously for the toaster, getting bored, starting to unpack the dishwasher, noticing the toast has popped, buttering it, only to discover my eggs are now overdone. I will get better as I learn the timing, but you see the point I am making -- it's significantly slower. My food-critic daughter has also explained to me that because of the length of time the bread is exposed to low heat, the resultant toast is dried-out, yet somehow cold. The old toaster would cook the outside surfaces but leave moisture in the centre of each slice. Your mileage may vary.Family members have suggested we discard, sell, or re-gift this toaster after just a few weeks of use. Like a new kitten, I don't feel it's right to throw it into a river just because we don't immediately love it. Like it or not, it is now part of our family until it passes naturally. We have a cat that poops in the bath and I'm told they live 18 years - I hope this toaster does not last that long.If this toaster suffers any "accident", for example, oh I don't know, a plastic magnet falling off the fridge into one of the slots and melting into the wires on subsequent use, as befell our previous, deeply-missed toaster, I will be suspicious, to say the least. That kind of thing should only happen once.

Terrible toaster
18 December 2021

This is the second breville toaster I have bought this year, I decided to buy the expensive one after purchasing the cheaper one and being very disappointed. This one is just as bad. I asked the sales staff for the best toaster regardless of price. They recommended this one and it is rubbish. I want evenly toasted toast... that is it. This one always burns the bottom of the bread. Also doesn't toast even at all. I don't care what it looks like or how much it costs, I just want a toaster I can set and forget not have to keep checking it all the time..

Useless toaster! Takes too long and toasts unevenly
20 February 2022

Bought this from Tingalpa shop. Takes way too long to get insipid pale toast so you have to go again. Who's got five minutes in the morning for some friggen toast. Lost any confidence in the Breville brand, bought heaps from the outlet store. Please don't bother raising a case unless you're issuing a refund for this and my scraper mixer that stops mid way.
