The steam wand was great I was able to make good milk for the first month (manually) and then all of a sudden I did nothing different and milk was the same. It was super foamy and wasn’t steaming right. I googled and there are Reddit threads of people having the same issue. Some people running into this a year after purchase too. Now I have to go through the hassle of warranty. Tried so many times and it was super frustrating I thought it was me until I did more research!

After doing my research I chose a Bambino Plus. It seemed like the best value at the time. An added bonus, which I was hoping NOT to use was the Breville customer service. Overall, the Bambino was an excellent product until it stopped working! However, Breville customer service face-timed me, tested it with me, and then dealt with the issue. The bottom line is that Breville replaced my unit and (so far) it has been working great! The machine heat up super-fast and provides a consistent espresso shot. Frothing is good (I would rate it 8/10, but that is excellent for the cost of the machine!) Of course, the machine has it's limitations, and it cannot be compared to a machine four times the cost. But, for somebody entering into the "coffee game", this is the only ... MoreAfter doing my research I chose a Bambino Plus. It seemed like the best value at the time. I’ve gone through two and on my third because of problems. After 6 months of owning my first one. the hot water stopped working to pull shots or steam with on first one. The shots never tasted that great. Almost zero crema. The second one started flashing and wouldn’t work anymore after two weeks. The shots tasted good. Slightly more crema. This third one I’m on pulls excellent shots, lots of crema…but I’m not holding my breath because I don’t know how long it will work until it also breaks down. This product is VERY inconsistent on each machine and I will prob never buy it again.

As I couldn't see how to edit my original post, this is a follow to my initial review last month, where my machine wasn't heating up properly and I was waiting for a replacement unit to come back into stock. I was offered another colour for immediate delivery but I chose to wait. Well, I received it exactly at the forecast date, and the difference in water temperature is noticeable. It's still not quite as hot as it could be for plain expresso but since I usually add hot milk, its good enough for me, and it's now pretty quick for a drink. Customer service was really superb, where they quickly offered a replacement unit, and fast followup once my new unit became available. After a pretty short learning curve we are now making coffee shop quality espresso drinks. We’re starting to experiment manually and are finding the videos very helpful. We had what we thought was a problem/defect and phoned Customer Service who walked us through it completely. They even waited and watched while we videoed making a cup! Magic. Problem solved. Actually not a problem with the accessory -just a problem with the users! It’s a handsome machine and it looks great on our kitchen counter. I highly recommend the Bambino Plus.
The stock portafilter provided with the machine seems to leak while pulling a shot. The issue is present irrespective of grind size, tamp pressure, specific beans, etc.I've seen enough other people experiencing the same problem online that I suspect it's a design problem - the stock portafilter has notches towards the rim, presumably to make removal of the basket easier, but I suspect this interferes with the seal the portafilter is able to make with the group head gasket. I have used a different portafilter with this machine without experiencing the same issue.
After several pounds of coffee and experimenting with the different variables to get a worthwhile espresso, I give up. This machine just does not seem to me to be user-friendly for achieving satisfactory results without suffering too much. I bought this machine on the basis of many very positive reviews, too many and too positive to be true? I wonder... I have to say that I like a full-bodied, sugar-free espresso. Since I have this machine, I put a little maple syrup in my espresso to remove the bitterness that I can't manage to eliminate at least in part. Would you say it can depend on the grind as well I will answer that is true that's why I also bought a Breville Smart Grinder pro coffee grinder to control the grind variable which didn't have not solved the ... Would you say it can depend on the grind as well I will answer that is true that's why I also bought a Breville Smart Grinder pro coffee grinder to control the grind variable which didn't have not solved the problem of bitterness. The coffee grinder works very well and is easy to clean. If the merchandise return period hadn't expired since mid-February, I would have gladly exchanged it for a more expensive machine allowing more parameters to be controlled, including water temperature, which the Bambino Plus does not not.
It's a nice machine, and doesn't take up too much space. It is a bit of a process both to use and clean the machine, however, making it feasible to use only on weekends when I have more time. Putting in the coffee always make a big mess cause you have to 'tilt' the piece to use the 'razor', and it drips quite a bit of coffee in the bottom tray. Everything has to be washed by hand, so taking all the pieces and washing them each time is a bit of a pain (thankfully though the pieces detach and reattach fairly easily). It makes good lattes, but overpriced
I really want to love this machine because it makes a very good latte. The draw back is the machine doesn't let you know the machine needs descaling or the wand is blocked etc until after you have already made the espresso shots and it is nearly impossible to get it out of "descale" mode etc to continue your coffee. This has happened way too many times for me and the espresso portion just goes to waste. No matter how clean I keep the wand the machine ends up telling me it won't steam because the wand is clogged so I use the tool and it does nothing and then I wait for a long time and it just starts working again.....All while the espresso portion has already been poured. For a while I started steaming the milk first to avoid this but the extra hot steam setting is not hot at all and my milk ends up going lukewarm. Also, the highest froth setting does not produce much of a froth at all unless I am using skim milk, any thicker of a milk doesn't get a decent froth to it. The other issue is that the drip tray leaks everywhere and this may not seem like a big deal but the steaming wand purges itself with water after every steam and that ends up leaking onto the counter. I've had this machine for about 5 months and although I love the beverages it makes, I do not love the other issues. I'm not sure if my machine is just a lemon but I am very disappointed.
I have had my machine for just over a month. I am using fresh ground beans, well before the expiry date, and I have yet to make an espresso that is palatable. I have tried the single wall and the double wall filter for both 1 and 2 cups. I have tried tamping much harder, lighter and everything in between. I have varied the coarseness of the beans I am using. All resulting in bitter espresso and no crema. When I contacted Breville, I was advised that I need to use beans that have a "roasted on" date, rather than a "best before" date!! They also asked if I was using a Breville grinder! Had I known I couldn't use my favourite beans and a non-Breville grinder with this $600 machine, I would never have bought it. I want to trade it in for a model with a built in grinder, ...
