Laughingly called the ‘gorilla’, because that’s what he is! He is big, heavy, very robust, silver and grey; just like a gorilla. He is the second one we’ve had in this family.We use our ‘gorilla’, for toasted sandwiches, grilling lamb,chicken, steak, bacon and roasting pork bellies - yuumm! Plus more!This ‘gorilla’ does like to have clean feet and left well apart!The fact that the temperature and time functions are easy to control makes this ‘gorilla’ another family member.

Very good grill - easy to use.Absolute pleasure to clean with the removable plates.Minor issue with the temp probe storage - it sometimes doesn't stay in it's housing and pops out but this is a small issue with the advantages outweighing this.

I have had two of these types of grills from Breville. They are a great concept with the removable plates making cleaning up very easy. Had some drama with the non stick surface but Breville have been great to deal with in finding a solution.I would recommend the grill for the shear ease of use.Oh - it doesnt mention that you can open it up like a BBQ grill when you have more items to cook. Used that function regularly
This is the best sandwich press/grill I’ve owned. My teenage kids have used it every day over the school holidays to toast various sandwiches.I’ve cooked lots of different cuts of meat. I don’t think the cooking probe is worth using, the cuts of meat I use are too thin to bother with it.The plates wash up perfectly clean with hot water and dishwashing liquid but I’ve started using baking paper to make it even quicker to clean up.My favourite thing to cook on the grill is chicken schnitzel because there is no need to turn it over so the crumbs stay on perfectly. The meat stays tender and moist inside. No more shallow frying!

We were looking for something that had a large smooth plate on the bottom and ribbed on top (most other brands that have this design are angled for juices to run off so not ideal for pancakes or cooking eggs or are too small for our needs). With this one you can have it on an angle if you want or you can adjust it so it’ll lay flat! Brilliant! Our pet peeve with the other press we had was that when you opened the lid, any juices ran down the ribs and on to the counter top! We wondered why it wasn’t designed better to catch those juices in the press. Well, this press addresses those issues with its clever design. Brilliant! It has a ... MoreSo happy we found this! Another awesome feature that we use a lot is that you can open it completely flat to cook your bacon and eggs, or steak and veg at once. Brilliant!!! Overall, it is everything we wanted in a ‘sandwich press’ and more. It is pricey ... but I guess you get what you pay for. We use this everyday. Absolutely brilliant! Now, hope it lasts and doesn’t disappoint on that front.

They are also impressive for the integrated heating elements and durability. The unit drains well and in being adjustable to a wide range of heights and able to open out is extremely flexible. The heat sensor works really well (though will not likely see a lot of use here) The sensor is conveniently located on the side of the unit though a little more positive clicking into place wouldn't go astray - easily dislodged if bumped. Externally, the unit is neat, up-to-date, immediately readable/understandable, simple to operate and very easily cleaned. I had previously purchased a George Foreman Grill with removable plates and was very disappointed as didn't cook meat well at all, particularly steak - turned out it was only 1600 watts.. After a lot of online research, I purchased the Breville Smart Grill Pro (2400 watts), and I love it!!! Heats up very quickly, cooks steak perfectly, and as it also cooks toasted sandwiches/rolls, bacon and eggs, and a lot of other things beautifully, I can now dispose of a few other appliances. Highly recommend this appliance, and I should have stuck with Breville in the first place. I have other Breville appliances which have never let me down.

I bought a Breville sandwich press 20 years ago and my daughter put a certain fairy sticker in the base - she was very in to fairies at the time. While we loved making toasted sandwiches with it and it was amazing our circumstances changed and we gave it to a friend after moving house. However years later we were at Camberwell markets I noticed someone selling the same sandwich maker at their market stall. On closer inspection I flipped it over and found the same fairy sticker my daughter left on the base, I bought it instantly. We went home and made toasted sandwiches for lunch just like old times, it was still in perfect working condition after all those years.
