An amazing budget water filter

We purchased this after looking at a fitted water filter, which was way above our budget. The filter fits in the bottom shelf of our fridge. The tap hangs over the shelf making it
easy for my children to use. We fill it with a jug as it is very heavy when full. The water tastes amazing compared to the chlorinated water that come out of our taps. I have had
the brita jugs in the past but with a family of 5 we couldn't keep up with filling it! This holds enough water for us to fill school and work bottles up in the morning plus more. I
highly recommend this item!

I fill a glass jug with tap water and then pour that water into the container. (The container was too high to fit directly under the tap on my sink.) Given that the tap water here, in Donegal, is incredibly dirty, the cartridge does an excellent job in filtering out pollution, flouride, limescale etc. and the water tastes clean. Really good design. Simple to put together. Really pleased.... Show more

I dont like the throw away culture and so finally having had enough of not being able to enjoy something as simple as a glass of water without it tasting like old pipes, decided to invest in a water filter jug. Knowing how much water we used to drink i was very happy when i found this tank as i would just be constantly refilling a jug. I was still sceptical and wondering if it was not much more than a fad directed at people with more money than sense.. see told you im a sceptic sorry BUT..I am so happy to report this tank has changed my thinking, it tastes lovely just good old plain uncontaminated water I would recommend this to anyone, i promise you wont be sorry.BRITA are now my newest trusted brand and if i could rate it more stars i would. The tank arrived with one cartridge i also ordered another two costing about 10, and there are options to order bigger packs of 4 and 6 and obviously the more you order the better value i think 6 are around 24 as we have only been using ours for just over a week i have yet to see how long the filter lasts, i use mine for filling the kettle, the dogs water bowl and cooking. There is a little display in the lid that tells you when the filter needs changing, going from 5 bars down to one or nonehavent got there yet when its time to change it. My display is still reading 5 bars and i have used the tank every day and have got into a routine of topping it up every morning whilst waiting for my coffee, this is working well and makes sure we have a full tank every day.The tank does take up a bit of room in your fridge but to me its worth it and does mean i dont have room for rubbish fizzy drinks so for me thats another bonus lol. it measures aprx 22 x 31 x 23cm and is longer than it is taller this was one of my concerns that it would be too tall and disrupt shelving system too much but its actually 23cm tall and 30 deepback into your fridge if you get my meaning, its 22cm wide.I was also concerned there might be a taste from whatever it is inside the filter i know probably a daft worry but thats me.. but nope there really is no weird taste, the water tastes just like it did when i was growing up, before there were times when you have to think god knows what could be in the water.. it looks super sparkly clean and tastes great. I can definitely say without a doubt nobody will regret buying this tank. As you can tell i would highly recommend even my 30 yr old who visits regular now chooses a glass of water as apposed to the usual coffee lol all good, less work for me. Oh and one last thing, im not sure and it could be a coincidence but in general i am feeling better than i was healthwise.. less tired and less moody, and the only thing thats changed is having filtered water. Thank you BRITA you are excellent . EDIT Just wanted to update on this great item, i wrote this review around the 19 of july, I have only just had to change the filter on it and it is now 22nd august very happy with this.Arrived on time and well packaged.... Bought this to get rid of bottle water and its super. Large quantity means only have to refill every 23 days. Its on a low shelf in the fridge which means our little man can help himself to drink. He loves this new independency and actually end up drinking more water just because he gets to use the tap but stories aside this is an absolute brilliant product in my mind. Well see over time for durability but Im not worried with Britax. Ive another of their small jugs for years and still in great shape. Water had a very slight taste initially by no means a showstopper though but after few cycles of fillingemptying the water is absolute tasteless. My husband has noticed same. So overall very happy with this item. If youre looking to confidently get rid of bottle water ... MoreBought this to get rid of bottle water and its super. I bought this big crappy water filter tank and it was one of the worst buying decision I have ever made. The tap doesnt screw properly and we had to place it close to the sink just to be safe and avoid flooding. The tank itself is huge and takes a lot of space in our kitchen. The instruction guide that came with the product is very confusing, lacks clarity, and requires several reads before you can make any sense out of it.The Brita Memo that reminds you to change the cartridge was stuck at four bars even after four weeks, and despite activating the MAXTRA cartridge filters properly. The water from the filter also had a taste whenever we drank water from it. We contacted BRITA after four weeks for a replacementrefund, but they wont entertain our complaint.I have ... MoreI bought this big crappy water filter tank and it was one of the worst buying decision I have ever made. Week after week I struggled as I tried to jam all of the empty bottles of water into my recycling bin, knowing that only roughly 10 of our plastic is recycled in the UK this was just bothering me more and more. I hate tap water so knew that wouldnt be a good solution, I also drink a lot of water so the jugs Brita offer would just be forever getting refilled, then finally I found this. I was sceptical at first having drank bottled water my whole life and been so fussy over it but then I read the reviews and finally made the decision to buy one.First things first, it does taste different to bottled water but after just one glass I was already used to the taste of it. I even compared it to the taste of tap water which I immediately spat out. It really does change the flavour and in absolutely no time you will be used to the taste in fact Ive come to find it so refreshing, I now find it a little weird when I taste bottled water again.Changing the filter is very easy and it does last a descent amount of time. I do hate the amount of water you have to waste when breaking In the filter but I suppose there isnt much they can do about it. The little tap is so easy to use and it definitely encourages the none water drinkers to drink a little more water. Cleaning the jug is very easy and though the filters may seem expensive they last you a long time and far reduce the cost if you were buying bottled water all the time.So to sum up Great way of reducing plastic waste my recycling bin has never gotten full since Saves all those annoying trips to the shops and carrying heavy cases of water Tastes just as good as bottled water The little tap makes it so easy to quickly grab a drink of water. As long as you have a stock of filters, youll never be out of water.Overall, I absolutely love this thing. For years I have been a total water snob and never thought I could replace my bottles but I finally have, so you can too You wont regret it.Side note you will be washing a lot more glasses than youre used to..... I write this reluctantly. I am sensitive to Chlorine, and dislike the taste of it. Having run 6 blatches through, (twice as many as suggested by Manufacturer) the reduction in chlorine, both taste and smell, could not be discerned. There was also a "metallic" taste to the water from the Brita, which did not appear prominent in the tap water as drawn. I then cleaned the unit, and repeated twice, replacing the cartridge filter each time, both times rinsing filter and discarding initial batches. There was again no discernible improvement. I then tried running a batch of store bought bottled water, (Glaceau Smart water) through the Britta unit. This again came out with a metallic taste which was not apparent in the water added to the reservoir. I gave this water both as ... MoreI write this reluctantly. I gave this water both as the untouched Smart bottle and filtered through the unit in separate glasses to 2 other people as a blind test, both of whom remarked on the metallic tang to one glass (the Brita filtered water), and chose not to drink it. have spoken to other Brita (jug) owners who have said theirs are not being used either. have purchased a small DeSal plant, which does do the job beautifully. Sad, because it is compact appealing and nicely engineered, just doesn't begin to do what it says.... Show more

Bought this recently and kids love it - can feel the filter working and no taste of added chlorine. Not hard to setup and easy to use for kids . Comes with 3 filters so that will last a year easy. Indicator shows when filter to be changed so that helps too. Daily used in our place of 4 people and I only need to refill twice daily - more on weekends. Recommend it... Show more

My old water jug was well used looking to replace I found this larger 8litre one. I was forever filling the 1.5litre jug up. This is great I wished I'd seen them before. Fits nicely on my 2nd fridge shelf without being too imposing. A tap is a great addition and I love this product. Thankyou Robert dayas for the competitive price and safe quick delivery. Highly recommended. Been using for 3 weeks without problem... Show more

I honestly don't know why we didn't buy this sooner. The filtered water tastes great; the tank and filter are both easy to setup; it doesn't take too much room on our counter (we prefer room-temperature water); it looks good in our kitchen; and it feels to have been made with good quality materials. My only criticism has to be the difficulty of sliding open the flap that covers hole into which you fill the tank with water. It's quite a tight clip and takes a bit of effort to dislodge. Otherwise, I am super happy and would definitely recommend it to friends and family.... Show more
