I have a simple requirement for an AIO machine: it must scan painlessly and the scan feeder needs to be sturdy. I have replaced two AIO machines made by a competitor for no other reason than these two features. To be fair this Brother machine thus far wins well in those departments. I am extremely happy with both the speed of the scanning and the ability to scan both sides of a sheet of paper simultaneously. The paper separation (the ability to scan every page of a pile of paper, and not drag two sheets into the machine at once) seems flawless thus far, allowing me to actually walk away from the machine while this operation is being done, instead of neurotically watching to make sure each sheet is actually scanned. Five out of five thus far.Printing? Seriously? ... MoreI have a simple requirement for an AIO machine: it must scan painlessly and the scan feeder needs to be sturdy. Five out of five thus far.Printing? Seriously? This is a laser printer, for heaven's sake. I have three printers in my office: a black and white laser by HP, a color AIO inkjet (came "free" with a computer purchase) by Brother, and this laser color printer. I am very disappointed with the print quality. I print essentially black and white lists/catalog material, requiring high quality small font production. The MFC 9340DCW is without doubt the worst of the three. Even black and white printing is poor. I prefer both their inkjet printer, or my old stalwart HP laser (10 years old) over this, since the black and white printing quality is simply inferior - too light and not clear enough, especially when using 6- and 8-point fonts. I have resorted to only using it for received faxes, since it's the only machine attached to a phone line. The color printing, likewise, is very poor. While the general consensus is that inkjets produce better color prints, I find that, since I don't use the color function much, the jets often get blocked and so I get sporadic color prints. I simply want the printer to work without any input from me besides presings the "print" button. Never happened on my previous inkjet AIO, nor on my current inkjet AIO (HP and Brother, respectively). So, I had hoped that, by buying a laser color printer, I would get more consistent and better results. The color print is simply washed out; it just looks like a poor inkjet print; to be fair, this is on regular printer paper, not photo stock. The software is what I have to interact with, and I simply don't get on with HP applications. I had hoped, by using a different manufacturer, I would get a better software suite. I am very happy with both the software and the touch screen user functions, although the touch screen seems to be a fingerprint magnet.

This is a great printer with great speed. Colour and black and wife are both great quality. Scanning and faxing can be a bit slow but pretty good for an all in one.Comes with Paperport scanning software … excellent and easy to use.Biggest drawback, to do two-sided printing, you have to manually take the paper and turn it around and then print the other side. Automatic duplex printing is not possible, although they say it is … it always jams … 109%.

This printer is phenomenal. I have been using this printer for over 3 years now and it works better than expected. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I hope this model will continue to be manufactured for a long period because I would like to purchase an additional printer for my office and home office.

I had / have a Oki Color Printer and it was close to the same age. If was just a color printer not multifunction. I decided for the price of toner to grab this one on 02/02/2015. I do not know the cost per sheetcomparison but on my scale it would be minor as OKI says their upfront cost is recovered in operating cost.I do have this printer connected via Cat 5 to my router but I also have the wifi enabled so others on the network can also print. Set was easy, did not need an IT guy to set up either. It rarely jams, I can not even count the Jams on one hand over 5 years. If anything, I neglect the machine because it does not require much attention.
This is my 2nd Brother printer of this series. My original has about 12,000 pages and still going strong, but the seller caught my eye by showing his had only 900 pages, $215 and free shipping. I couldn't pass it up. I only print text and small color diagrams that I use outdoors. I like laser for this because the ink doesn't smudge if it gets wet. I don't print big photos because experts claim this printer isn't great for that. I tried refilling cartridges from bottles of toner with mixed results. EZink sells a set of five TN225 toner cartridges for $40 with free shipping on eBay. I've nevar had a bad one. The machine counts pages and doesn't automatically reset to zero when replacing a cartridge. The secret reset menue is available by turning the printer on, raise the toner door, then press the asterisk button for six seconds. I reset all cartridges to zero and replace them when print quality deteriorates. That's because the machine declares a cartridge low several hundred pages before it actually begins to skip or streak. The machine allows me to print, scan and copy to the PC or use the Brother control center app to do that from the PC. --
I do a lot of color printing, that is the reason I chose a laser printer. The jets of a jet printer plug up too much. There are several problems I have, one is the lack of instructions and explanation of printing options—I have to do too much trial-and-and error to get the results that I need.Another disappointment is that I use the Hallmark Studio card program a lot, but the MFC-9340CDW is not too compatible with this program, at least I can not program the printer to print both sides when using this program except to manually turn over the stock, I would rather I didn’t have to do that. (for other work I can use the printing options and print both sides. (for other work I can use the printing options and print both sides. (I had no problem with this when using a jet-ink printer.)Another disappointment is that there is a feeding problem with printing envelops. Sometimes I can’t get the envelopes to feed, even number 10 envelops, (there are three ways to feed envelops, but at times none will work. At other times the envelops will feed in too late (or too early) and the image is way-off center, not even showing the return address; I must feed in envelops until it works right. This can be expensive, especially when I use other than a number 10 envelopes, much of the time when the envelops do feed they wrinkle badly, even with the envelope feed option turned on—not so good if you want to make a good impression, especially with business correspondence. In spite of these issues I’m very satisfied with the printed color results, I’m not going to be too harsh on a review. Especially if the company tries to fix the issues.
Have had this for 2-3 years, and it has never been something that has worked as it should, but as it wasn't cheap we persevered. It has finally started jamming paper constantly even after a solid clean, so it's time for the bin, and it has put me off getting another Brother product. The main issues were (and not all of them):- No where near the advertised print speed. The printer has MASSIVE delays in getting the data and then actually printing it even for the most basic documents over WiFi, or Ethernet cable.- Toner does not last anywhere near the specified page amount. From a 2500 cartridge, you'd be lucky to get 800. Yes, genuine toners, about 500-600 NZD a pop to replace them all and almost every time one of them leaks. For reference, this printer is only just shy of 7000 pages, and I have replaced the toners 3 times in the last 12 months alone.- It is impossible to use from the touch screen. You have to do everything from a PC. Not a problem for printing, sure, but if you just want to copy something you have a physical copy of you have to place it in the tray, walk back to your desk, start it, wait 1.5 minutes for it to spoon up and then just START to do the job.Good Points:The only thing I liked about this was the highlighted green points for servicing etc and how easy those parts are to remove and replace etc. Made it super easy. It's almost like the engineer behind that idea knew you would be pulling this thing apart often. If you have ever seen the film 'Office Space', this unit rivals old mate 'PC Load Letter' and if I had a baseball bat would get the same fate.
This Brother - MFC-9340CDW Wireless Color All In One Printer's maddening paper handling shortcomings are the worst of any color laser that I've ever owned. And I've owned several. I cringe whenever I'm faced with needing to print an envelope, heavy paper, card stock, labels, etc. Basically, anything other than standard 20-28 lb paper. This thing complains and errors and makes me open this compartment or that compartment, pull this lever or that lever, and so on! Usually, I'm forced to power it off and start over. I've never had another color laser make me do all that and make me this miserable in the process.Twice I've had to pull all four toner carts to clear some imaginary paper jam.Speaking of toner carts, I only bought this Brother color laser because its ... MoreThis Brother - MFC-9340CDW Wireless Color All In One Printer's maddening paper handling shortcomings are the worst of any color laser that I've ever owned. Which I thought would be a nice break from HP's $120 color toner carts. When I received my first set of Brother OEM replacement toner carts I discovered they only offered approximately 1,400 printed pages which is about half the pages of replacement carts for HP color lasers! So no bargain there. The only reason I gave this Brother printer 2 stars instead of just 1 star is the minimum paper width of this printer is narrow enough to accommodate the width (i.e. height) of a standard personal check. All other brands I've owned won't go that narrow.Other than that one plus, I absolutely hate this printer and truly can't wait until it breaks down and I can go back to HPs.
We finally decided to give in and buy a laser printer when our inkjet messed up and stopped printing black ink. I researched for months before deciding. Price was a huge factor and this one had great reviews. It does everything I could possibly need it to do! Our main reason in buying a laser printer I s homeschooling, but as the church clerk/secretary I have already used it for church purposes as well, like when our church printer quit on us.The only thing I’ve not tried is faxing as I just don’t have a need for that. I hooked it up wirelessly and it was super simple. Everything works well. The only complaint I have is printer speed. This may be something I’ve just got to configure myself or maybe I misunderstood the copy speed for the printer speed. This may be something I’ve just got to configure myself or maybe I misunderstood the copy speed for the printer speed. Either way, for now my way around that is if I need to print multiple copies like say for the church bulletin like I did last week, I can just print one from the computer and then make copies of the rest. If I try to print all from the computer, it wants to restart each time so it seriously takes about a minute per copy. That’s not cool, but maneageable with the copying until I can find another solution.I have printed from my iPhone, iPad, and iMac all. There was one slight issue when trying to print from the iMac that I have to resolve too. Even when I change the printer settings to short edge (duplex printing), it still printed on long edge. I honestly don’t remember now if I printed from my phone or a flash drive, but one of those ways made it print on short edge.Anyway it still gets five stars from me because I haven’t had too much time to research and find solutions. The print quality is excellent and it does everything I need it to do! I know the toner is just a starter set, but it’s lasting great so far!In summary, even though I’ce had a few hiccups with it, nothing has been major and I’m very pleased with this purchase. You’d have a hard time finding a better deal! Trust me, I researched for such a long time!!
Overall a nice machine. We have it connected to the network through ethernet.A few tips:1. Use the CUPS driver when connecting to a Mac (I don't have a windows machine). The Apple drivers are horrible and it didn't even work over Wifi with the Apple drivers.2. Before replacing your toner cartridges, watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MlSLy0UbNy8The machine only guesses how much toner you have left based off of how many pages you've printed.
