I think this is a case of 'Brotherly Love'. I have had the NV1800Q for a little over six months now, and I cannot speak highly enough of it. I use it mainly for quilting, and a bit of free-motion embroidery. It has heaps of great features for general sewing (I repaired some jeans a while back, and was able to sew sideways along the length of the leg while it was over the free-arm!) and specially for quilting. The extra harp space is great when quilting a queen size bed quilt (I haven't tried anything larger than that yet), and the 'Free Motion Mode' is something I use all the time. The knee-lift is an absolute god-send when doing applique, and the automatic thread cutter is practically life-changing! I highly recommend it.

Super fast delivery, couldn't wait to get started. This machine was to replace my brother FS180Q which I felt I had outgrown and loved. The added features on the Nv1800Q that helped me to decide were the easy threading, thread cutter, ICAPS. Pivot function, extra wide table, knee lift to name a few and the additional feet I had purchased for my previous machine fit.I spend a lot of time at my machine now I am retired and I wanted to invest in a machine I could grow into and enjoy as much as my previous machine. I am always learning.

This is the first time I have used a computerised sewing machine as my former machine was a Janome 7025. This Brother machine came with a lot of accessories, particularly a walking foot, and a very comprehensive user manual, as well as a quick start guide. I’ve only been using it for 2 weeks but already I love it and it has allowed me to improve my sewing skills. For instance, I make patchwork quilts and the 1/4 inch seam allowance foot is so useful. The needle threader is straightforward. Being able to use a foot pedal, or not, is also a good feature. The programming of various stitches is easy to use and I have been able to quickly and easily practise some of the more decorative stitches. It will take a while to explore all this machine can do, and because it’s ... MoreThis is the first time I have used a computerised sewing machine as my former machine was a Janome 7025. The machine does everything I expected and more. As stated in the details it is heavy and if you intend to move your machine around you should consider this aspect. Lots of nice features to make sewing very smooth and easy.
Bought this back in July 22 and have had nothing but problems. It has been in and out for repairs because the machine just does not want to work correctly. Do not recommend unless you have a spare when this goes in to be fixed. I had really high hopes for this machine, and it’s just been a disappointment. And they said I can’t get a refund because it didn’t happen in the first 30 days… but it takes more than 30 days before you realise the machine is junk.
I upgraded from a Brother machine that was over 20 years old, and I am pleased I have stuck with brother. I bought this machine for its automatic functions (needle threading, cutting, tying off) and the wide base and walking foot that were included for quilting projects, and love it so far! It is fairly intuitive to learn, although I haven't explored all functions yet. Very happy with my purchase and feel that this machine will suit my needs for the next several years at least. Delivery was super quick (2 days to south Australia) and the echidna team called to confirm my address, and were great at fixing up the website hitch when the sew day sale coupon wouldn't work for me. Great customer service and allayed my fears about making such a big and important purchase ... MoreI upgraded from a Brother machine that was over 20 years old, and I am pleased I have stuck with brother. I purchased the brother for quilting and it is so smooth to use. Love the push button functions. The speed button is great and allows a constant pace. The extra table length is so helpful.
I bought this machine as I was looking for a lighter machine to take to classes. I compared it to many other similar machines and found this machine weighed only 9 kg and has list of the functions I was looking for.To my surprise when I set it up to use it I found it delivered so much more. I love sewing on it.It is quiet and sees very smoothly producing beautifully balanced stitches. I don’t have to worry about the stitch tension as it adjusts it automatically.I love this machine and am very happy I found it!
It has been a whole new learning experience for me. Some good some not so good.At first I loved all the stitches that are available and did a test run on some of them. Plus for me is the automatic needle threader, which in other machines have never been successful. So far it is working well. I like the two light sources that make my sewing easier to see. Not so good is the bobbin holder winding at the top of the machine. That sits up from the machine and unless I am really vigilant the thread has twisted itself underneath the plastic bobbin holder when filling a new bobbin. It is really difficult to get this thread out and I can see that it will be a nuisance and have to take special attention to this. How on earth can I stop this from happening as the thread will build up under there and create a real problem. Does this bobbin disc lift off?? I have never had this issue before as the bobbin has always sat down close to the machine. With this machine it is sitting up somewhat from the top.I would appreciate feedback on that issue.
