Was looking for a basic laser printer but couldn't resist this one from Brother for more $ but includes colour and flat bed scanning. Officeworks were out of stock so I ordered online for collection. Staff member was helpful in bringing it out to my car.

Bought this in late 2020 after doing some research. I am so disappointed. Blue and black toners are streaking (see attached photo) and despite doing all the steps outlined by Brother (save for replacing the whole internal gubbins) nothing has helped. Now I'm not a heavy printer-user. This sees AT MOST 20 or 30 sheets a month, but I wanted something reliable. More fool me.I have not mishandled it, I have not dropped it, I have not had to replace the cartridges (it sees that little use) so I have not used third-party toners. This is just a rubbish printer. Don't make the same mistake as I did and buy this.

This is such a versatile printer. Printing, scanning and photocopying excellent. Would have wanted a longer warranty for piece of mind, included. Also cannot do 2 sided printing using the app. Need to use a laptop for this action.

Do not bother with a Brother laser printer. We have the MFC model and it is hopeless! Every other day, you get a "Drum!" error message and the corona wires need to be cleaned. You'll be spending a fortune in ink as well when you buy original Brother ink cartridges, only for them to leak everywhere and splatter on pages. Avoid if possible.
This printer worked well for the first 6 months. The toners are expensive and I am constantly getting error messages 'no toner installed' even when they are mid use as well as when one needs to be replaced......18 months after purchase I am unable to get rid of the error message and use the printer
I have always had inkjet printers for my home-office because I couldn't afford a laser printer, particularly a colour one. I finally became so sick of issues with ink (when you don't print regularly in an inkjet it dries up, and the printer self-clening mechanism then proceeds to waste all your ink), that I decided to seek a laser model. This Brother printer is fantastic. It was delivered in double-quick time, was easy to set-up, connected immediately to my WiFi and prints beautifully clealry. The automatic duplex printing is a great paper-saver and so-far I am extremely happy with the whole experience.
Purchased to facilitate networked printing in a shared home office, our Brother printer, connects effortlessly with devices over WiFi, including mobile devices, scan option is easy to use. A joy after our previous printer from a different manufacturer
This is a report from Arch Linux 5.15* CUPS support: OK incl. two-sided* XSane support: OK up to 2400 dpi* WiFi: 2.4 GHz
So far the printer seems fine. Brother trumpets their green credentials but then packs the machine in big blocks of polystyrene which cannot be recycled in kerbside collections. When making comparisons for making a purchase, it would make a difference if the packaging was recyclable - specially since the machine itself has a limited life and will end up as e-waste.
Brother sewing machines were very reliable and used in industry for many years and still are. That was one reason I bought this printer, the name and I hoped the reliability would be the same as the sewing machines. I was not disappointed, a great printer, solid performance and inexpensive to run. Add to that air drop facility and a scanner function plus duplex printing and I have to pinch myself to make sure it does it all. Overall a brilliant workhorse, dependable and inexpensive.
