Velvet Haze is what I think an elegant, aging hippie woman would wear. She’s had a lot of cool experiences and wears a lot of unique jewelry. This scent is so complex it took me days of wear to really think about. It’s so well balanced: it truly is soft like velvet, being somehow creamy, sweet, warm, and powdery all at the same time. Truly gorgeous.

This is my favorite scent EVER. I’ve smelt and tried many different perfumes. Most perfumes to me smell very similar, and that’s a basic floral scent that is too boring for me. I need some thing unique, different, and stands out. This one does that. The hibiscus is very obvious but the undertones of patchouli and bergamot makes this scent truly unique from any thing I’ve smelt before. This is my holy grail perfume and the price is steep but it’s worth it. The scent also lasts for hours. It’s the longest smelling perfume I own.

I sampled almost the entire Byredo line (with the Grande Selection set), and this was one of the top standouts to me. I think the Velvet Haze is perfect. I get a really cozy feeling, but also really clear and airy. I don’t think I get any coconut - it’s definitely not a tropical scent, nor is there any of that sunscreen feeling that I normally get from coconut scents. The patchouli here is really mellow, and there’s a slight sweetness without feeling sugary or cloying. There’s an hint of cocoa nib in the background, introducing a tiny bit of richness. Love it! This is an excellent evening and date night scent for me.

Patchouli lovers take note!! I bought a hand decant from scentsplit.com (highly recommended). This perfume smells like a warm patchouli hug wrapped in velvet. It’s smooth-not hippie high school patchouli-this is grown up. It leans feminine in my opinion. It’s sophisticated. It has hints of wood and coconut but it’s not tropical at all. It’s a good winter scent but I am wearing right now. I absolutely am in love!! For reference I also adore Bacarrat Rouge 540, Glossier YOU, Dolce Gabbana The Only One.

Delicious memories of the 90’s

I owned a purple velvet Biba suit in the 90’s this perfume would have worked so well with that suit. It’s a different scent, heady, chocolate, smooth smoky and deep. Excellent longevity and silage. Comforting and not like anything else I own. Different for Byredo too and totally addictive. I can’t stop smelling my wrist while wearing this. It comforts me.

Perfect unisex

This scent is perfect for every day wear, which is why it is my signature scent for fall/winter. But still suitable for all occasions, all seasons, and all times of day. Safe enough for the workplace, but bold enough to get noticed by everyone. My only complaint is the silage - it’s there for the first couple hours only on my skin.

Sweet and musky

I am extremely picky with perfumes. I tend to use Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 only - my holy grail! I tend to find most perfumes far too sweet or too tart, if that makes sense in olfactory terms. I have tested a few Byredo perfumes and this is by far my favourite - it's musky, deep and sweet. It does smell like how velvet looks. For me it's just a little too sweet and so gives a bit more of a mature vibe. But I recognise that I'm particularly sensitive to sweetness, so I think it's a pretty pleasing perfume! For that reason I can imagine me using it when I'm a bit older. But definitely worth going and have a sniff if you can!

Unique and sexy

This is a beautiful, evocative and creamy scent that develops over time and is like wrapping yourself yourself in a warm (but sexy) scarf.I'll try and describe the notes to give you a feel for this - they may sound a little unusual but bear with me: the first spritz is coconutty, with a warm white floral notes - it feel sassy and uplifting and quite like a holiday scent but with a sensuality that is perfect for colder weather (I'm wearing this now in November). VELVET HAZE EAU DE PARFUM

honestly it is my fault, i should know better. overall I do not like unisex fragrances and i keep trying them. On me it pulls the masculine note and I feel a fragrance of a male neighbor. But I think on a guy it could smell really lovely, sophisticated and quite soft actually which i like in male fragrances. Nice scent just not on me

WORTH IT..WEAR IT AND SIT BACK AND ENJOY

I think what the fragrance house of Byredo has created here is magic! That is exactly the way I would describe it...as a magical scent! A scent that is hard to describe, but picture the character Penny Lane from the movie Almost Famous, but not in any contrived, silly way....Or even a Harry Potter or Lord of The Rings-ish setting, due to the way it warmly envelopes and invites you to connect deeper to your soul. It’s an elevated, creamy, and seductive scent that’s not overwhelming which is sooooo important. I would say that creative type personalities would enjoy this scent, and, it may be a stretch, but the scent could facilitate, or at least inspire, further creativity.
