This smells like a lemon bar, which I’ve really come to love. I disliked it a lot in the beginning, but I also disliked the product as a whole AT FIRST. This has become a staple part of my hair routine. I apply it when my hair is about 50-75% dry. And when I say apply, I mean a thick layer over my curls, not disturbing or combing, just scrunching. I’ve learned to ignore the smell and absolutely fell in love with this product once I learned the trick is just using a LOT. There are better things out there, just not with this packaging (I think this is the cutest packaging ever and that does matter to me to an extent) and usually not for this price. A trial size lasted me only about 5-6 washes.

You need this for your hair routine! I love the way this product feels in my hair. It make it so soft and manageable. My kids have all variations of curl types, and each one has no issue with the formula. It hydrates, not heavy, no bad residue, smells amazing, and results last at least 48 hours. For example: ill use this product in the morning, my curls hold shape through the day, next morning i can run my fingers through + shake my curls full w/ minimal frizz. A must try for sure! Another key is topping everything of w/ 😍😍😍 no crunch!

The Curl Friend is a nice soft hold styling cream. It has good enough hold to combat frizz, but doesn’t get crunchy or make my hair look stringy. I like that it has moisturizing ingredients to help my hair in dry conditions. I use this cream in winter or if I need my hair to be really smooth and neat looking. While it does weigh my fine 2A hair down, it also helps it look less frizzy and messy overall.

This curl cream is like no other. Its perfect balance of moisture and protein, give my wavy curly 2c-3a curls, whether going for an elongated softer look, like one photo, or tighter more defined voluminous curls, i never worry about definition or moisture retention or not having some protein to help bring my curls to life! I cannot say enough amazing things about the entire cake curly hair collection, and I absolutely love the way they smell! Just cannot get enough!!!

I love, love CAKE products. I literally have the entire line up for styling curly hair. I have been a long time fan of these products. I have been buying CAKE for years to style my hair both curly and straight. I hands down love the spell and so does my boyfriend! I love these hair products for styling curly hair. The products help to enhance one's natural curly/wavy hair. And it's not all hard and sticky after using the products. I am and will be a life long buyer of CAKE products.

For years, I have searched for hair products that didn't dry, frizz, fry, or ruin my hair. I am literally ecstatic over Cake!! I am going to shout from the rooftops on how amazing all of the products are! I don't usually leave reviews for beauty products, but I have to say that I finally found hair products that work for my fine, frizzy, curly hair. As a result, I started looking for replacement products and have tried Aveda, Quidad, Curlsmith, Not Your Mothers and a ton of other curly hair products that either didn't have enough hold or had too much hold. I am pretty sensitive when it comes to smell and all of the products consistently smell the same, which is good when you using several at a time. The smell is sweet, but it is not overpowering. I definitely recommend these products!!

Best product I've used in years

I have wavy, fine hair but I have A LOT of it. I have worked in salons and tried everything out there over the years and this is my absolute favorite. My curls are so defined and bouncy. I do have to use a clarifier every couple of washes to remove residue, but I do that anyway so it's not a big deal. This paired with the Cake Mousse is my go to now. I've used it for over a year and get consistent results.

Leaves a lot of residue on fine hair

I had high hopes for this product since I love their hair spray so much, but it leaves way too much icky residue on my waves. I have fine high-porosity 2B hair down to my mid-back, and only used a quarter-sized blob on lengths before air-drying (I don't use gel or mousse on top when it's just casual styling). Once my hair is detangled with a Denman-type brush and the waves are formed, I don't touch it so as not to disturb the curl clumps (that's the secret for pretty mermaid waves) I was very disappointed and surprised to feel how sticky my hair was after it was dried. There was so much icky product residue I could feel it on my hands, I literally had to wash my hands every time I touched my hair. I tried using even smaller amounts but it felt the same. Purchased this after many much research in the Curly-Girl-World.I did the mousse-gel-mousse method, followed by 10 min of cool setting of a diffuser and then once a cast formed, scrunched out when dry with Cakes' Locksmith Dry Conditioner spray. I use a silk bonnet to sleep with over my hair each night and refreshed the next morning with the Locksmith again, its Sunday, so I'm enjoying being lazy and want to see, w/o any styling, how the hold, volume, softness and curl hold up through the day.I have chin length 3b and 3c curls, mostly grey with scattered salt and pepper, coarse and very dry and frizzy hair. I'd been using Redken Curvaceous for years, but it seems they're phasing that out, so I went looking for another product line to fall in love with.
