I have found the ear protectors to be comfortable for continuous long term wear (over a period of 1 to 2 hours as example) and work just fine for subduing high level noise. However, I am disappointed in the amount of amplification for normal voice level hearing. Even at max volume, I have to continuously ask people to talk louder. In contrast, Dillon ear protectors, while not comfortable for long term wear, provide much better normal voice level amplification.

The battery contact became corroded and broke when i cleaned it with a soft bristle toothbrush. If that's not poor craftsmanship, I don't know what is.

I've had my pair for two years now. First pair I returned after a week due to high amount of static when switched on. This is my second pair that I use infrequently and, although it initially was better (as opposed to being correct) it now has a high amount of static in the left ear and a little less in the right. I would not recommend this model
These Caldwell Muffs are very comfortable and enable you to carry on conversation while shooting. I have even used them in the deer stand and turned up the volume to hear deer approach before I see them. Great value for the money.
Very effective. Positively clamps down loud noises without interfering with normal conversation. Volume control allows adjusting for ambient noise conditions. Even in an indoor range, muzzle blast from a .45 is well-damped. Most ranges recommend foam plugs under protectors (double layer protection) when firing large caliber weapons indoors; wouldn't hurt, but not strictly necessary with these. Instantaneous sound reduction upon firing.
Fantastic product for the price. I can hear chipmunks, squirrels and mice running in the leaves from my tree stand. Cuts out quickly so I can even tell when I make too much noise chambering a round. Works great for shots, cutting out quickly. I am ordering five more for the wife and Kids on the range.
These Caldwell electronic earmuffs work perfectly to protect the ears from loud noises, yet allowing normal hearing range noises like speech through in stereo so that you can hear direction of sound. The only way they could be better is if they only reduced the LOUD volume to normal range instead of cutting it out completely...
This is my first electronic ear muff. I have hearing loss and was hoping this would allow me to enjoy quiet conversation in the blind with my granddaughter. IT mutes sounds when the switch is off, but does not seem to amplify conversational sounds much above no ear protection. It helps some, so I'll keep them while looking for a good buy on something better. Bargains are not always bargains if we have to buy twice.
