Beautifully Creamy… I started on oat milk as an alternative for health reasons. I’ve tried all of them except this one. Upon trying it on offer, I must say it is definitely the best! It’s so creamy and delicious in porridge or cereal or on its own. Works fantastically in coffee, half oat milk half boiled water from coffee machine, yummy! I found I didn’t need a saccharin as it was kind of sweet-ish which is a big bonus. I am very particular with my oat milk. It’s great Asda has different offers each week so I’m able to try them all and switch around when offers are available. It also has a long life.

I’ve worked with several different oat milks throughout my career in coffee. Pacific Foods, the texture is a little grainy. Oatly, the flavor can be a little play-doh-y. Minor Figures is expensive and the flavor can be lacking at times. Califia is consistently the best tasting, and best-steaming oat milk on the market. If you don’t believe me, ask the baristas at Ghost Note in Seattle. They had a blind taste test of every oat milk on the market here in Washington and unanimously agreed that the Califia was best. The flavor tastes like oats, too! And the ingredient list is incredibly simple to boot. Plus, you can usually find it under $4 where I live.

Have been using this milk for months from Walmart and was so happy to find an alternative milk that was able to make micro foam. Just recently I bought this milk from Amazon in a 6 pack and none of those milks made the micro foam. It was so watery and ruined a few of my drinks. I then bought this milk again from Walmart and that also did not foam. I reached out to Califia and they sent me a new lot and that one still did not foam well. I feel like they changed their recipe (even tho they said they didn't) or are missing a critical component. How is this milk passing quality control? The whole point of buying this specific barista version is because of its ability to micro foam. Seems like other people are having the same issue with recent batches. We finally upgraded our coffee machine and it came with a latte and cappuccino frother. I was excited to finally be able to make these drinks at home so I bought this milk because I had originally heard good things about it. This product does not froth well. In fact it didn’t froth at all. I was very disappointed in this product. I was wondering why none of the stores have any in stock near me. I had to order it online and it was on sale. Just to be clear it was not used error or an issue with our machine because other milks seemed to have no issues and they frothed beautifully. Sorry but I won’t be buying this one again. Also pay careful attention to the 5 star reviews. All the dates are from years ago and pay attention to the most recent reviews. There is obviously a problem that needs to be addressed with the product, everyone can’t be using it wrong.
I have been buying this product for 3 years. Recently I noticed that it was not frothing as well and it tasted a bit off. I checked the date on the box, it was still good but noticed that it said Made in Canada. I opened another one that I had that did not say Made in Canada and it was perfect. Just like it always has been in the past. I was wondering maybe the formula hasn't changed but has the location where you make it changed? Could that be the reason it is not the same......Is this product, Almond Milk Barista's Choice now being made only in Canada? Nothing bad about Canada but the product was perfect and I am trying to figure out what happened to the quality. Thanks for your time.
After 5 years of enjoying this product, I thought it was a one-off when I received an entire case of these that did not steam at all and were noticeably thinner than the previous cases. I was wrong. Califia Farms changed the thickening agent they use in these, and the current thickening agent in it is not meant to be heated - thus, the breaking/curdling, and horrid taste. This is now the fourth case, or 24 cartons of this almond milk, which all had the same exact issues:- they curdle / break when steamed- they are almost transparent in color and lacking in texture- the taste is completely offRecent reviews both here and on Amazon agree. An absolute shame, but it's time to look elsewhere; these are completely worthless.Perhaps the worst part of this entire ... MoreAfter 5 years of enjoying this product, I thought it was a one-off when I received an entire case of these that did not steam at all and were noticeably thinner than the previous cases. Really? See attached photos of old/new. Please don't gaslight and lie to your customers about why your product is suddenly worthless. Thanks.
I started buying this barista blend oat milk several ago after asking my favorite coffee shop what specific product they’d used in my (delicious) latte. Nearly every day since then I’ve consumed it either at home (steamed as well as over ice on warm days) or at said cafe. I’ve almost always purchased for home from Whole Foods (both in store and via Whole Foods/Amazon (local) grocery delivery. A few weeks ago, I noticed it smelled “off” (or different from usual) when I opened a carton. I figured it was a fluke and tossed it. Bought new one few days later, and on opening discovered same smell. I tried a small sip and it didn’t taste good. A few weeks ago, I noticed it smelled “off” (or different from usual) when I opened a carton. I figured it was a fluke and tossed it. Bought new one few days later, and on opening discovered same smell. I tried a small sip and it didn’t taste good. Today I was super excited to visit my coffee shop so I could have a “good” calfia barista blend oatmilk latte, figuring my recent bad milk experiences were due to user error on my part. When I got my steamy perfect- looking latte I was shocked to take a sip and gag. The taste was terrible. I brought it back to my regular barista and asked if they’d started using a different kind or brand of oat milk — he showed me the califia barista blend oat milk carton he’d used, the same as always and told me how he’d been disappointed to be unable to drink his favorite morning drink with it himself also! He said the flavor has “just changed or something” or it was a “bad batch” as all the cartons they’ve had this last week have been the same. I’m very disappointed to say that I can’t buy or recommend this product until/unless the change is addressed and a resolution communicated (& of course identifiably good cartons are back out in the market). I’ve been happy paying a premium for what was an amazingly good product; I’m not willing to spend that money just buying different cartons hoping one of them might be newly corrected or from a “good”/older batch. Very disappointed loyal fan & customer here.
I love this product usually but one day I opened a carton and poured it in my coffee and choked. It had this horrible taste like there was a few drops of fingernail polish inside. I figured it was a bad batch and bought more from a different store. The new carton was fine so I let it go. A few cartons later I got another one with the fingernail polish taste. It took awhile but I finally narrowed down that it’s the cartons that say “Made in Canada” on top that have the horrible taste. They appear to be the newer batches. I don’t know if it’s one particular plant that is using a different recipe or if that is going to be the new normal but whatever is going on, PLEASE make it stop. The original taste is delicious. It’s my favorite creamer. Whatever you’re doing ... MoreI love this product usually but one day I opened a carton and poured it in my coffee and choked. First batch I purchased last week was amazing. I was feeling like a barista with my new Nespresso machine. Went back to repurchase and made my drink excitedly this morning. First sip, I could have spit it out!!! It tasted like someone had watered down play dough and put it in my drink. Went and grabbed the other bottomless our other recycling bin to see if the recipe had changed and it hadn’t. Read others reviews about batches from Canada tasting awful. My new batch is from Canada and the last one was not. Be careful and do not purchase any from Canada. The taste is bad enough to make you gag.
Honestly, this used to be the business. I was delighted to discover Califia a few years ago and for a long time it was the clear best oat milk going. Excellent on its own or in coffee or tea. Then, something went badly wrong. In recent times the milk seems to have become thinner, and worse, now has a distinct sour flavour that pretty much ruins any coffee. I take special steps to ensure I don't make it too hot, etc. but it makes no difference. The milk still tastes OK on its own, but coffee is critical!Oatly Barista is now the top dog for me. Sadly, Califia has joined the rest of the oat milks that are just about palatable and nothing more :(Please sort this out, I'd love to have my old Califia back!
