A few flaws I've noticed now that we use it daily.
Normally I would say this is great. I have a bunch of different sizes. But, now that my kids are taking them to school and my husband is taking them on the job, they have a few flaws. Ones, they scratch and dent easier than you think. Not just by the kids. My husband came home with his practically destroyed and he doesn't know how it happened. He figures maybe someone may have knocked it with a tool. That's not normal though, I know. But don't expect it to last heavy duty construction, it won't. Second, this size doesn't fit well in many vehicle cup holders. Or sometimes just one of them but not the other. So if you have two bottles, one person has to put it on the floor or hold it. Now, the 20 oz will fit in the other cup holder so you can always have someone use a ... MoreNormally I would say this is great. I have a bunch of different sizes. So if you have two bottles, one person has to put it on the floor or hold it. Now, the 20 oz will fit in the other cup holder so you can always have someone use a smaller one. If you are going for the day then not always the best. I really like that the lids wash well in the dishwasher, and they switch from bottle to bottle. These are hand wash only but that's done easily. Ice water stays cold all school day long and into the evening if its been refilled with water at school. Lastly, they are a little heavy but that's good. To me, that means well insulated. Just a heads up for the kiddos. When they are full with water in the mornings it adds weight to that bag. But, they don't sweat except the top of the lid can get a little bit of moisture after a while. But the books stay dry. Overall, I wish it was a little more narrow for my jeep and didn't scratch and dent at every drop or bump. But, it does the job of keeping stuff cold. I can't vouch for hot, but cold, it works.... Great bottle, but leaks
I've never written a bad review for a product before, because typically I just decide its "not for me" but assume others might enjoy it. Unfortunately, I have to write a bad one for this waterbottle. The design is...shockingly bad. I'm just not sure how it even got through product development because the lid just leaks. The bottle itself is typical camelbak quailty, super strong, nearly impossible to break. The cap is clearly of nice quality too but the design is horrible. The "magnet" feature they use to hold the lid on is a great idea...in theory. It's nice that its easy on/off. But it leaks. This bottle can't be in any position but standing upright or it will begin to leak significant amounts of water. No amoutn of fiddling with the cap will get the magnet to ... I adore this water bottle.
I have owned a lot of water bottles over the years, some more expensive and some less expensive than the Chute Mag. This is far and away my favorite water to keep water with me on the go. I still carry a hydro-flask if I am schlepping something temperature sensitive, but nowadays those (much heavier) bottles get left behind in favor of this one when I just need good ole H2O.My bottle has been everywhere with me over the past several months, from everyday work commutes in town to alpine adventures in the Alaskan Arctic. It has been dropped, scraped, thrown around, used, and abused. Through it all, it has not failed or let me down. There are some superficial scratches in the plastic in some places from contact with rock and metal, but overall, the bottle is in great ... There are some superficial scratches in the plastic in some places from contact with rock and metal, but overall, the bottle is in great shape considering the conditions I put it through, and I look forward to making many more memories with it along in tow.The shape of the bottle itself is great: It is thin enough to fit in the not so room cup holders of my car and not so tall that having it in my backpack becomes a chore. Where this bottle really stands out, though, is the lid. The grab handle is just the right size. And the nozzle / cap setup is far an away the best combination of utility and ease-of-use that I have found so far. If I have one nitpick, it is that I am a little worried that the cap retention connection will fail long before the rest of this bottle is ready to give up the ghost. However, that is in part why I spent a longer time (about 6 months) using the bottle before writing up the review, and while slightly looser at the connection point around the base of the nozzle—it can be wiggled side to side a bit, at this point there no sign of outright failure after *heavy* use. The fact that CamelBak incorporates recycled materials into these bottles is icing on the cake.If you need a solid water bottle for everyday use, this one gets a wholehearted recommendation from me. I think you will love it.... Show more

Less convenient than expected but does the job
I've had the Camelbak Eddy 25oz as my go-to water bottle for ages so I thought that upgrading to the 50oz could make things easier for my partner and I to have a shared water bottle around for road trips, short walks, camping, etc.PROs- Very hardy, haven't gotten any dings on it yet after taking it on a number of hiking and camping trips- Opening size makes for easy drinking without spilling, even in a moving car or while walking- 50oz is a lot so this reduces the need to refill often if you consume a lot of water or are sharing the bottle- Handle is solid and a good size if you need to carry the bottle by hand around a lot, though not the most comfortable if hauling this hefty bottle for many milesCONS- Doesn't fit in cup holders and barely fits in ... The description omits to mention that this cap WILL LEAK if it's not screwed on closed! More than once now I've been surprised by spillage in my car because I hadn't screwed the top back on tight enough. (see photos) As others mentioned, the way this cap screws on and off just isn't the most intuitive.Overall, I'm lukewarm on this product. If you can get the hang of opening/closing it and have use cases for needing 50 oz (~1.5L) in a hard bottle (vs using a Camelbak bladder), then I'd recommend it as functions well. But personally, the bulky size and opening mechanism of this bottle wasn't that convenient for me. I'll likely keep using my Camelbak Eddy and Camelbak bladders more than this.... Show more

Lightweight, easy to handle
Great water bottle. Love that the cap is magnetic and out of the way when you take a drink. The bottle is lightweight and easy to handle. I like that it is see through because it encourages me to drink more water. I have a few yeti bottles but they are so heavy and I not see through and I can’t tell when it’s empty. Also I have arthritis and this bottle is easy to handle.... Show more

Love it! Highly recommended, and it’s affordable.
Excellent water bottle. I bring it to work everyday. It’s the exact amount of water that I need to drink daily. The see-through bottle reminds me to drink all the water by the end of the day to remain hydrated. As for the construction, it’s very light weight and sturdy. Love the magnetic cap that keeps it open while I drink, or drink and eat at the same time. The cap is also very secure. I forgot to tighten the cap once and carried it around, and it did not spill any water. Lastly, the handle is very convenient and easy to cary around without hurting my fingers. Only issue I have is not being able to place it in my car cup holder, but that’s a car problem not the water bottle.... Show more

Stinky lid
I like the idea of this lid, but it could be improved significantly. I wash the mouthpiece daily, but it still has a mildew smell unless I put it in the dishwasher. Also, I wish the plastic piece that connects the cap to the lid were made of silicone or something with more give; I know the plastic will break at some point, and then the bottle will have no lid. Lastly, I was excited by the semi-close option (just setting the cap on with the magnet without screwing on the lid. Doing this serves no purpose, however, as the bottle spills with or without the cap on unless it is screwed down. Overall, it is a weird lid, and I will not buy another of these when it breaks. The bottle itself is fine and I like the peach color.... Show more

The best water bottle I've ever had
I have long been on the hunt for the best water bottle. I have a tendency to knock over bottles, to lose them, to get seals all gross and mouldy, and just generally to stop drinking water because I don't like the receptacles available. The CamelBak Chute Mag is the solution to all of these problems. It's sturdy and bottom heavy, so even though I've smashed it backhand, it didn't fall over. It's easy to drink out of, and short enough that it fits under my water filter, so I love it, and will never lose it. There are no seal to worry about, and every nook and cranny in the lid is VERY easy to clean. In summary, Chute Good.... Show more
