I was traveling to Iceland and wanted to bring along a lens to capture the Northern Lights, but couldn't afford the professional Canon lens I wanted. Lensrentals was the perfect alternative and really affordable for my 10-day trip. The lens arrived in excellent condition and the packaging was way beyond what I expected. I'm so happy with the rental and would totally rent again to try out different lenses.

I am not a pixel peeper, but in my eyes the lens provides great results. The images tend to be from reasonably sharp to tack sharp depending on the conditions (camera settings, tripod vs. hand held etc.).In conclusion, I can heavily recommend Canon 16-35 f4 for crop shooters as well, with the restrictions stated above.Yet a few words about Calumet. I decided to order from Germany, since the prices of camera gear are often lower than in my home country (Finland). I chose Calumet because their payment methods and delivery options were wide-ranging and hassle-free compared to many other companies. There were no extra charges and delivery within EU was free. I came to this result by comparing different camera stores via idealo.de website.

The Canon 16-35mm Lens is the ultimate tool for landscape and portraiture photography. Creating crystal clear results for both photo and video, it is highly rewarding and satisfying after every shoot. While I have not used this lens on a job yet, I did spend a few days testing it. Having already seen scientifically done test data on-line, I did more of a real world eye test for sharpness and vignetting. Using a Canon 5ds and shooting at various focal lengths/aperture combinations, I compared the results side by side with my Canon 35mm f/1.4L. Surprisingly the 16-35mm outperformed the prime at certain settings and seemed to at least be equal at most others. So I am (almost) satisfied. Vignetting as reported, is dramatic, especially wide open. However, the newest Adobe Lightroom has correction settings for this lens that for most part fix the vignetting and the distortion. If Im using it for candid people shots it acquires fast and accurate focus on both cameras, regardless of focus method Im using. Manual focus is a breeze, the focus ring is easy to adjust and feels just firm enough, not too sloppy or not too tight. Colors and contrast are excellent. If I do my job right images rarely require post work, with the exception of milky way and star images which usually need adjustments. Most of my photography targets landscape scenery and northern lights. Lens is being used on a Canon 90D not a full frame camera. I was drawn to this lens by the reviews and the f2.8. I have not been able to put this to the total test yet but comparing photos taken with the new lens vs. the old canon EF 18-85mm f3.5-5.5 is just remarkable. Clairity and detail edge to edge is so much better with the new this lens. The constant F2.8 will be fun to work with. Auto focus is fast and spot on using the one spot focus. Looking forward to taking some nature shots when the snow stops for a few days here in northern Michigan. Can't wait for the next time the northern lights are viewable to get some memorable photos.
