*Only used photo functions, this is a review of using this for event photographyI rented the 5D IV to capture an event, and it greatly surpassed my expectations. Having never used this camera before, it felt effortless to get used to. If you’ve used a DSLR, you can use this. Everything was very ergonomically laid out and the way it interprets light and color is very impressive. I’m finding myself doing much less post work on the images than I normally have had to in the past. It feels great in your hand and somehow the feeling of releasing the shutter gives you a very satisfying feeling.It’s no wonder this has been a workhorse In so many photographers tool boxes. I will be renting this again for sure.

When editing your videos, The paid version of Davinci Resolve is also the way to go. Your recorded material will look very professional & cinematic.4. last but not least purchase lens filters! Amazon has some great filters that will work great on your investment.The 5D Mark IV for me is a beautiful camera that is my go to for everything video related. I love what this camera produces and would recommend it to anyone from entry level to professional. Canon has some great cinematic cameras that I may venture into in the future but for now, I'm going to stick with the my trusted partner, the 5D Mark IV.

The images created using the 5D Mark IV paired with the 24-70mm L glass is phenomenal. Shooting in RAW, I have such wonderful control and the ability to fine tune the highlights and shadows. I could care less about the video capabilities and really wish this camera was available without the video feature. There doesseem to be a perpetual number of customizations that I'll need to work through. I wish Canon (or any camera brand) would develop a still photography only camera with very straight forward menus and controls. Basically, a film camera with a digital sensor without spending Leica prices. Having said that, the Canon 5D Mark IV feels great in the hand, is very intuitive, features a great optical view finder and is built like a tank. I held off upgrading my 5D Mark II for many years but I'm glad I finally did as I saved several dollars overthe original price when it was first released.
I have nothing but praise for the 5D MK IV. Its exceeded my expectationns and blown me away coming from a 7D MKII which is a great crop sensor camera on its own. I'll still use my 7D but the MK IV is out of this world top quality. The number of rejects are minimal and this is just a beast.On another note, the handful of bad reviews talking about auto-focus seems odd. I've never had an issue with AF and why dont those posting bad reviews upload photos to show it? Im wondering if those are bogus reviews? Makes you go hmmmm...Anyway, don't hesitate on this camera especially if you're coming from a crop. The full frame experience is an eye opener even though I still have a place for my 7D. Cheers...
At over 30 MP with 4K video this is the best camera I haveever owned. It fits my hand like a glove.Since my previous camera was the 5Dmrk3 my handis already familiar with where the buttons are and the setup that I prefer. I can set any of the exposure triangle settings without ever taking my eye from the viewfinder.It has over 60 focal points and I find it hard to not take agood picture.This camera is totally customizable on the setup. There is notmuch that I cannot do with it.It has a huge array of lenses to choose from and since I didn'tgo with the EOS-R series camera I can use them all without adapters or having to re-buy them all.The weight and size of the camera is perfect for my hands.I feel that the newer EOS-R series cameras need a ... I was super excited to make the switch from Nikon to Canon and get this camera in my hands after shooting Nikon for 15 years.. I got the 50mm f/1.2L to go with it.. I had focus issues.. like 30% of my photos were not focused correctly. It would back-focus. I took it in to my camera shop and they calibrated the lens to the camera and it still didn't fix it. Thought maybe it was the lens, so I tried the 24-70 and same issue.. Talked to a few other photographers and they also had the same issues with the camera. The chromatic aberration was also awful! It was all over everything in the photo! I've never seen that before. Have never had focus issues or bad chromatic aberration with Nikon. Also, with Nikon, I can set my settings in Manual mode and can flip to aperture ... Just purchased this second 5DMarkIVI, having previously owned a 5DMarkII and 5DMarkIII. (I always shoot with two bodies, each with a prime lens.) There is something about the ergonomics of these cameras that just works. I have found them to be incredibly reliable and rugged, having experienced inevitable mishaps during years of heavy use.Using L glass produces simply lovely images. More current cameras have better specs, but honestly, for me don't produce any better images unless shooting at ISO 3200 or higher.I tried the newer R series/mirrorless camera, but found it to be terribly unbalanced. Putting an 85mm f1.2 lens on the front of one of those cameras makes it difficult to obtain anything near a natural balance. Plus, the 85 f1.2 lens for the mirrorless ... More current cameras have better specs, but honestly, for me don't produce any better images unless shooting at ISO 3200 or higher.I tried the newer R series/mirrorless camera, but found it to be terribly unbalanced. Putting an 85mm f1.2 lens on the front of one of those cameras makes it difficult to obtain anything near a natural balance. Plus, the 85 f1.2 lens for the mirrorless camera actually weighs more than the same lens for this EOS camera. Go figure.All to say, I plan to stay with this system as long as I can and hope whatever is released down the line fits my needs.
