Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR Camera (Body Only)

I bought this camera in 2019 and 5 years later it's still my work horse. I've watched the mirrorless revolution roll out, but as this was the peak of the DSLR range - I'm still in love with it and not ready to move over to mirrorless yet. Especially in light of the occasional mixed review in terms of colours for the R series. One day I will upgrade, but this baby still holds up and i'm expecting it will carry my wedding business for a few years yet! Side note - I love its physical robustness. I once left it on a hot plate (stupid!!) and despite it melting a significant portion of the base, it works fine! Its also got wet in the rain numerous times but hasn't even flinched.

I purchased this camera a few years ago as a second body for the work that I do but it very quickly became my go-to camera, relegating my then main camera to backup, which I have not needed! Image quality, handling and reliability are superb. The shutter is very quiet making it a pleasure to use as well. I have taken this camera into some challenging conditions - heat and dust, rain and cold weather and it has not faltered once. All controls and menus are logically laid out and the option of creating custom menus makes changing settings simple and quick. I would have no hesitation in purchasing the EOS 5D mark IV again if I needed to.

My first serious DLSR. I upgraded from an entry level Canon camera and this baby has not let me down. Yes the newer mirrorless designs were very tempting but I’m an old fashioned type of guy and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to own the camera I dreamed of for many years and it has not let me down. I have used it in sub-freezing temperatures, rainy days, dusty and windy days and have never had an issue with getting the shot I needed. Solid and sturdy design allows it to take the occasional knock, while the easy to use interface makes it very easy to set-up and shoot on the fly. Highly recommended if you are in the market for a versatile unit with that old fashioned click sound.

Battery Capacity

Everything was great with the rental. I found the verification policy with work details to be provided to be a bit odd, but I understand the need to do that and we were able to work around it so no concerns with the renting experience or the staff's customer service. The only issue was with the battery that came with the camera. The battery was at 59% life (not capacity) max to be useful for day long shoots while traveling so it conked out at critical junctures. Thankfully I carried a spare battery with me which served as my main battery so it was manageable. Please ensure you provide a full life battery charged to full capacity upon arrival. Thanks!

I was simply BLOWN AWAY!

When I was asked to shoot my clients wedding, I was shaking in my boots! Loved the First One So Much, so Bought Another

I have been shooting Canon cameras since the days of 35mm film (Canon AE-1 + others). Furthermore, I am aware that Canon has introduced mirrorless cameras. However, I have been shooting digital SLRs for many years now, and just a few years ago, I purchased a Canon EOS 5D Mk IV. That first camera performed so well and yielded some incredibly vivid, colorful, crisply focused photographs that I decided rather than start over with an EVF type camera (newer technology) for my "long" lens 2nd unit, why not purchase another EOS 5D Mk IV (proven technology). My latest Mk IV camera has already performed very well (comparable to my first 5D Mk IV). The only very minor complaint I have is that the camera mode selection knob (where you choose Tv, Av, M, etc) is slightly out of alignment with the detent it offers, thus it gives the appearance that the knob is not quite in its proper position. None the less, this is a minor cosmetic flaw and the camera functions just fine as it is. Just not the quality that I have come to expect from a Canon camera. This was my only basis for deducting 1 star (I had the option to exchange for another unit, but I had already registered this one and did not wish to delay use of the camera). None the less, if you seek high image quality and have use for a higher end SLR camera, you will not be disappointed with this particular model, (unless you are just starting out and don't own a large inventory of "L" grade Canon lenses; I am aware that there is an adapter for EF to the newer RF type lenses). I would be comfortable recommending this model to other photographers who have a need for this type of camera.

Still Holds It's Own

I've had mine for 3 years and I couldn't be happier. I chose not to go mirrorless because the lenses are so expensive. I bought 3 EF L series lenses off of ebay for about 40% savings over buying new. Don't go for the cheap lenses with this bad boy, the L series lenses bring out the best in this beast. Feels great in the hands, it's like an extension of me. I shoot mostly landscape with it so the weather sealing comes in very handy. You cannot beat the price on this site. Best Buy still has them at $2600. The menu system is a breeze to go through with lots of shooting configurations. If you do get one and you're still shooting in auto mode you should really commit to shooting manually to utilize everything this camera has to offer.

Still the one

I am no professional photographer. I am a hobbyist photographer.This camera was an upgrade from my Canon 6D mark II. At the time of this review, I have only shot around 100 pictures. The 5d Mark IV will allow you to take more control of your focusing points, focus areas as well as more custom functions. It has been an adjustment for me, but I knew this before I bought it. Reading the reviews and watching the editorials, it has not let me down. The weather is mid winter now with not many colors in nature. I don't have a certain subject matter that I shoot, but I have shot both outside and inside pictures. They have not disappointed me. I believe with more practice, this camera will be a natural as my 6D Mk II. I decided not to go with mirror less at this time and ... MoreI am no professional photographer. Canon has been my choice from the beginning and I will be a die hard Canon user. I purchased this camera from B&H Photo and Video. I have purchased equipment from them before. They did not disappoint me this time either! They even had it stock! I ordered the camera on a Tuesday and received it the next day! This was fantastic! B&H has never let me down and I will continue to use them.

Wonderful, reliable camera that produces outstanding images.

Just purchased this second 5DMarkIVI, having previously owned a 5DMarkII and 5DMarkIII. (I always shoot with two bodies, each with a prime lens.) There is something about the ergonomics of these cameras that just works. I have found them to be incredibly reliable and rugged, having experienced inevitable mishaps during years of heavy use.Using L glass produces simply lovely images. More current cameras have better specs, but honestly, for me don't produce any better images unless shooting at ISO 3200 or higher.I tried the newer R series/mirrorless camera, but found it to be terribly unbalanced. Putting an 85mm f1.2 lens on the front of one of those cameras makes it difficult to obtain anything near a natural balance.
