Still working out how we feel about this. We are avid settler geeks, bought the 3D version, and wanted something we could travel with. It lacks variety of challenge, and feels quite 2 dimensional when it comes to strategy. Nothing on the original or 3D version.

Good value - two different games. One is similar to the Catan table top game, and the other is different altogether. Both are fun. I haven’t investigated replacement pad costs yet, but another reviewer suggested laminating and using a whiteboard type marker which I think is a great idea.

Catan Dice Game

I picked this game up during the Black Friday sale. I never played the board game version of Catan so didn't really know what to expect. Turns out, it's a lot more fun than I expected from a dice rolling game. A lot of that is owed to the mechanics of the game and how the game is designed. It actually can be quite addictive. The game consists of 6 dice, a wooden pencil stub. a pad of 60 double sided score sheets, and instructions. It all comes in a reusable clamshell package. It takes up very little space and is very travel friendly. The dice are well made, however, the one issue I have is that the dice in my set are not as colorful as that shown in the product picture. The gold icon on my dice are painted black instead of gold and looks very similar to the ore icon, which is also painted black. You have to look carefully to tell them apart. The lumber icon on my dice are also painted black instead of brown. It doesn't take away from the fun of the game, but would be an improvement to use different colors to make the icons more distinguishable. Also, the game comes with a limited supply of score sheets, so you'll need to save a few unused sheets to make copies, otherwise you'll run out. All in all, this was a worthwhile purchase and I would definitely recommend it.

Fun Game!

I bought this as a stocking stuffer for my husband. He is a big fan of the full version of Catan. I am not that big into board games, so when I saw this I thought it would be a perfect compromise for us. We both ended up really enjoying this game. The instructions are easy to understand and you can play a game in about 30 minutes. I definitely recommend this for people who like simple strategy games, and for those who don't want to commit hours to playing the full version of Settlers.

Fun lil dice game

Great game for two people. Not sure if this will keep more than two people entertain. Same concept as the Catan board game but certainly not as fun. I will recommend if you’re looking a game to take on long plans or train tips! Small enough to carry but will keep you entertain

Great for a quick game of Catan!

The Catan dice game is a quick version of the Catan board game. We really enjoy the dice game when we don’t have an hour or more to commit to the board game. Plus it’s so easy to take along. There are two versions of the dice game: Island one and island two. Island two is most like the original Catan board game, and it’s the one we like most.

Lots of fun

Lots of fun to play. My husband and I (with lots of Catan experience) enjoy it for a quick evening game. We also taught our 7, 9, and 10 year olds over Christmas break and they caught on quickly. I wish it came with more papers - they run out fast!

Simple dice rolling fun

Players take turns rolling dice to get specific combinations to build roads, settlements, and cities, and hire knights. They then write the results on the page as well as their score for the round.I like to use plastic sleeves and dry erase markers to reuse the pages from the booklet that comes with the game, but it comes with enough pages for several games for the recommended player count.It's not a good substitute for regular Catan, but if you're looking for a light dice game to play with a few friends you could do worse.
