Have been using these for a few weeks now and here is my feedback. The optical quality is excellent for the money with a fairly wide field of view. Not too heavy or bulky for a full sized nitrogen filled binocular. I get the impression that corners may have been cut slightly with the build, the white branding is already rubbing off after only a few uses, and the bag and straps are also pretty basic. That's not to say they don't feel well made - the binoculars have a solid feel to them and it's clear that Celestron have focused on making the optics as good as possible. The image clarity is exceptional and with the 42mm lens the brightness is great even in low light, which makes these perfect for birdwatching. I would highly recommend these binoculars for anyone ... I bought these for my husband’s Christmas present. He’d researched reviews before choosing the Celestron DX42. He has other binoculars but wanted something specifically for using on walks in the fields and woods of Shropshire. He is absolutely delighted with the binoculars (he shouldn’t really have them before Christmas) They are so easy to use and the clarity and field of vision is outstanding. We would definitely recommend them and also recommend buying from Firstlightoptics: the best price, great communication and a fast delivery.

I purchased these on the advice of a friend who is very much into birdwatching. The binoculars are nice and bright and offer a very clear image, as well as a good field of view. I opted for the 8x42 model because I was told this had a wider field of view which is better for amateurs like me. It's quite heavy but the quality of the lenses more than makes up for that. Excellent value for money too!

I bought these for my son to use on wildlife walks. I opted for the 8x42 as I felt anything with more magnification wouldn't provide a steady enough image for him. I had also read that they fold close together so would be ok for his smaller head and they do fold close enough for him to use comfortably.They seem fairly well made and the image is bright and easy to focus with little chromatic aberrations. Overall I think these are very good for binoculars of the price and would be excellent for beginners. I would be less sure if they were at their full price of £160 as there ... I gave these binoculars five stars because, at this price, they are an incredible value.I purchased the Celestron 10x42 Nature DX bins for my grandson, and I'm very impressed with the performance so far. The optics are bright and clear, the focus is quick and precise, and they're pretty lightweight for little hands.The storage case is nice and the lens caps on both ends are tethered. If there's a better buy it at this price, good luck trying to find.These also came with a Celestron Lens Pen, don't forget to pick up that little jewel... you'll never leave home without it.Whichever binoculars you finally decide on, don't bother looking anywhere else... B&H is the only place for optics. The website, salespeople, and shipping department are all top-notch.
Why pay 5-10x more? Celestron once again proves high quality optics can be had at a bargain price! I own another brand of 10x42 Fog proof, Waterproof binoculars that sell for nearly 20 times more than these Celestron Nature DX bins. These bins are also Fog proof & Waterproof. Very compact, clear and focus much closer than the more expensive pair. This is the second pair of Celestron binoculars and see no reason to ever purchase any other brand. Celestron delivers nearly indistinguishable quality as the designer brands for a fraction of the price.
Excellent clear bright, sharp images, Well built and comfortable to use, I particularly like the smooth focus wheel which allows for quick viewing. I found the close focus to be about 9 ft, rather than the 6.5 ft stated, but thats fine for me. The only negative I found and the reason I cant give five stars is due to the looseness of the eye cups. They are to easily accidentally moved from the desired position. I would recommend them for birdwatchers looking for high quality observations at an affordable price.
The glass is clear, easy to adjust, feels good in the hands, easy to carry. So far only used for bird watching but looking forward to using them in the desert and woods on some upcoming hikes.
Just got these a few days ago. I have a 10x42 Pentax already and wanted to get something less expensive for my brother. He is not into these much but liked my Pentax pair.I tested them side by side. This unit is as sharp and just as good albeit a little less bright. I paid twice as much for the Pentax pair. For 1/2 the price, you can't go wrong.If you are on a budget, these binos are the best bang for the buck. If you want slightly better quality and willing to pay double, then get the Vortex Diamondbacks.BTW, first time shopper at Walmart.com. I had a very good experience. Fast shipping and good follow up.
