CeraVe - Resurfacing Retinol Serum - 30 ml

Little to no scent, it does sting a little after applying but after checking multiple sources and many reviews, this is normal with retinol products. I have very sensitive skin so I imagine those with normal skin will not have any stinging.I dislike that CeraVe doesn’t disclose the amount of retinol percentage and instead gives a non-answer, but the tiny amount of retinol it has is indeed effective. I have REALLY uneven skin, lots of bumps from old blemishes that made hiding everything with makeup difficult. I bought this a little over three weeks ago and used it in tandem with Melano CC to lighten blemishes and it’s amazing how much has changed, my skin is nearly flat! Be prepared for a LOT of flaking at first if you had bad issues like me. After using up this bottle, I intend to change to a resurfacing product with a higher percentage of retinol!

I had suffered from severe acne breakouts in my early 20s and foolishly to try and get rid of the huge bumps on my face I'd try to pop them and pick them off , creating horrible scars on my face. I would always have to wear makeup before I left the house because I was super embarrassed of how my skin looked. Now I did my research prior so I knew that it was going to take more than a couple days to start seeing any improvement , and I also knew of the " retinol purge" which is what happens to some when they first start using it, its just the retinol pulling up all the the dirt and pollutants from under your skins surface , just stick with it, dont quit! After about 5 days when the purge started subsiding, I could start to see the improvement of my skin, the texture evening out, my large pores on my nose starting to shrink, my skin started to look more plump and firm, and there was just this beautiful youthful glow to my skin that I hadn't seen in ages! I can't put into words how happy I am with this product , and can't wait to see how much better my skin will look continuing this every night! If you're on the fence with it, give it a try! I LOVE this product! It has worked such wonders on my skin and it’s the ONLY product for acne that I’ve used that does not break me out before “improving my skin.” I have very sensitive skin and I’m naturally prone to acne due to my oily skin but this product has helped my skin in so many ways! I normally only apply this product at night right after cleansing my face. It does slightly peal my skin but nothing crazy or noticeable! I don’t use or invest in a lot of skin care, if any at all because I’ve found over the years, they don’t do anything for me other than break me out much worse. It has been one of the toughest things finding a product that even does anything. This products has not only helped with acne but also with older dark spots. I have extremely sensitive skin and am able to use it daily. I have tried Differen which also has retinal in it, and that product turned my skin red and itchy instantly. This product has caused no irritation. Using this I have clearer skin. Acne marks fade much faster using this. It has retinal in it, so it can help prevent wrinkles. After I wash my face and apply it, my skin feels cleaner without drying out. Then I apply a moisturizer on top of it. I didn’t notice a “resurfacing” effect on my face- however, I started applying the other Cerave retinal product to my neck and chest (purple and white bottle for wrinkles), and it absolutely resurfaced the skin that I attribute to sun damage. Have been using this serum for 3 months now. Started with Twice a week, and have now switched to Thrice a week. I have had no purging or peeling with this. My skin is on the oilier side during the summers, but since I started using it during the winters, I preferred using a thick Barrier care moisturizer on top of this. I have definitely seen improvements to my skin with the glow and the overall look, however, I am waiting patiently to see prominent results over long term usage. The serum has a creamy texture, lightweight, non greasy and well absorbing. It comes in an air tight, light protected pump, which is easy to use, especially for a pea sized dosage, which is released with just one pump. I'm shocked that it actually works!!

I really should have done before & after photos to fully appreciate the contrast. As someone with " bad skin" to the point I had borderline depression over the pain of its existence, I have tried countless acne cure alls & even creams promising just abit of improvement & seldom notice much difference. I have been using this for 3 weeks & I notice a difference, I'm stocked!! I've been using this for a month now, at first i started noticing my eyelids would swell in the morning but would go away in a day or two. I NEVER put it anywhere near my eyes or eyelids at all. I used it once a week. I even apply vaseline around my eyes before applying this to my face to act as a barrier for the retinol to not get around eyes while i sleep ( I move a lot when i sleep, this may also be the main problem.) I continued use with precautions and same persistent problem. My methods just did not work, my eye problems only got worse. I already expected the purging, and dryness that comes with retinol but i never expected this, i knew all the risks and such. But this is just a warning to everyone, look out for allergic symptoms.

The CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Serum was a new product I added to my regular CeraVe lineup & the failure of the pump construction was a real disappointment. I switched to CeraVe Retinol Serum from my typical Neutrogena serum (also pump container) because i wanted the ease of the pump dispenser at a more affordable price. No product was extracted with rigorous pumping (haha) of the container. Prying the lid off of the container (the lid isn’t threaded so it must be pryed open) I found there was no syphon straw to guide the cream from the container out the pump and onto my “laughter & wisdom wrinkles”. This is the first occasion CeraVe product was packaged in an inferior, nonfunctional container. I’m rating it a zero because a faulty package decreases the worth of the product to me and having to either pry the lid off every time or leave it sitting open causes waste of the product from frequent spills. The product seems to be performing similarly to the Neutrogena retinol serum product I typically use and I guess I will be switching back to assure reliability in manufacturing.
