Large lumps, perfect for low temperature slow cooks which it does well.It can be broken into smaller pieces easy enough.But even when broken into smaller pieces I've struggled at times to get high temperatures from it, other times it's been great.It stinks! The odor from the last box of this charcoal surpasses that of any other I've tried, so much so that I won't use what's left of the box.A good amount of charcoal in the box.

Very happy with product in past and not inclined to leave feeedback, however, on this occasion was disappointed to find the box filled with two (2) huge pieces - likely over 3kg each - and a small handful of useless dust making up the difference in weight. Both too large to be useful in Kamado Joe so had to go out to purchase a different bag on the day

Best value charcoal on the market. It is a good mix of large and small pieces of lumpwood. Many other brands at this price point are made from dressed timber off cuts that do not retain heat for longer cooks. This product gives you the high temps for quick grills or low temps for sustained slow cooks.

Great quality, holds heat well and lights easily. I like to combine it with a few briquettes but they are probably not needed, I just always have some on hand.
Bought for an upright smoker, only just managed to do one cook with the whole box. The pieces were either too big to fit into the fuel door or so small they incinerated immediately. Bring back the Heather's lumpwood!!
I find this one to burn nice an hot and keeps going. Yes, as others have said, the size is inconsistent throughout the bag, I find that a positive. I use the smaller stuff for the quick start high heat cooks, and the larger chunks in the slow smoke. Great flavour as well.
I've tried many brands, this is my favourite. Covers the kamado cooking range, i.e. gets crazy hot for pizza and maintains a consistent burn for 90C low-n-slow.
Use to be great. Latest purchases have been all small sizes and burns very quickly. I notice people have been opening boxes to check the size before purchasing. Changed to heat bead brand and very happy.
Been using this for about 3 years now. Use it in my Kamado and other grills. It's great that has different sizes. You use the big for those longer cooks and the smalls to get it going and for those shorter cooks. Still for something ultra long Low n Slow like a brisket or Prime Rib or St Louis ribs you can't beat more upmarket fuel especially with the bigger chunks. But the big stuff in here is great for a 1-2hr lamb and the smalls for a quick heat to do steaks, pizza and burgers where the smoke isn't the main event and you want a quick fire of an hour or 2.
This charcoal is good quality and burns really clean. I really liked it when it came in really chunky pieces but until recently it was all really small inconsistent sizes. Not sure if i was a little unlucky in the box that I picked but at 30.00 a little expensive to take the chance. I would not buy again. If your desperate its a little on the expensive side for what you get but it will do the job.
