Chef'n - VeggiChop Vegetable Chopper

This is the third I have purchased, two for gifts. The hand powered chopper is such a handy tool. Chopping onions, dicing sun dried tomatoes, chopping herbs, chopping roasted capsicum, eggplant , olives etc for a “ smashed” plate, scrambling eggs…. The possibilities are endless and this gadget is terrific. I definitely recommend this item.

3 Stirkes You Are Out

After 3 uses I was permanently locked out of getting my chopped food! The lid came apart in 2 pieces. Ugh, which was really gross, as you could start to see the build of gunk that was just starting to form between the two pieces (something that I never would have thought about. Unsanitary. Can only imagine what it must look like after awhile). In any case the bottom portion that was stuck on the container was on there good and tight! I even went to my handy neighbor next door & he didn't feel that he could get the lid off without busting the container to do so. We even tried using a screw driver to pry the lid off.Needless to say that breaking down like this on the 3rd use is a bust. Customer service was great. They are taking the item back. They gave me permission to bust the thing open to rinse out the food stuck in it. I'd really like to send it back to the manufacturer's rotten food & all!I would not recommend. I would not keep one even if it was free and guaranteed to never lock me out of my food again. Seeing what I saw growing between the two plastic plates after only a few washes has turned me off forever. Be aware what is lurking under yours.

FANTASTIC!

I bought one of these about a month ago, from another online retailer, but I just had to tell everyone how great this is! I used it the first time two days ago. I do that. I buy things that I think I’ll like and then don’t use them for a while. In this case, it was a mistake. This thing is so easy to use and so easy to clean! It chops wonderfully. I love it so much that I bought two more for two of my good friends. They got them today and they think they’re really cool also. You will not regret having this in your kitchen. Those electric ones are a pain to clean. Put this on the top shelf in your dishwasher. Voila!

Gets me cookin!

Gets me cooking! I dont cook I bake and leave that venture to my talented husband. We love fresh produce and often make salsa and guacamole. We are a family of 3 so this works amazing for us! I used it the most then he saw how great it was and uses it now to prep vegetables.Ours recently broke after 5 years and everyday use and I panicked!Just ordered two! You will not regret this purchase!

Great Little Chopper!

I really like this chopper! I needed something to chop raw potato for a recipe that would save me time in the kitchen. It did a very nice job. My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is that the blade wouldn't always chop all parts evenly. I had some parts chopped well, while others needed extra work. It is small, which is good since I have a small kitchen. It is also quite easy to clean. Just watch out for those blades, they are really sharp!

Great Product

We received the veggichop hand powered vegetable chopper by chefn right before Thanksgiving and it turned out to be perfect timing. I will say I was a bit unsure of how well it would work, but we needed to chop some pistachios, so we gave it a go. My husband used it first and loved the ease of adding in what you needed to chop and then pulling the cord repeatedly. It reminded me a bit of starting a lawn mower, but way easier and it was fun. It took our full hard pistachios and chopped them up into small pieces for our rub on our lamb. It also was much easier to clean up than getting out our big Kitchen Aid Chopper. It was small and compact but held the 1 cup we needed and still chopped adequately. The pull cord has a nice large round handle to grasp and stores conveniently on top of the lid, so its seamless. The bowl can also be used for serving and has a storage lid included as well. This is a must have in our kitchen and will be our got to chopper when we need to chop something quickly. Also, to add my husband keeps using it, so I know it is a good product and fun too. Makes life a lot easier

I love this thing. We had one previously but it fell from a height and got cracked, so we instantly looked for a replacement.It's a lot easier to clean than a whole food processor and offers a lot more control over the result. It also happens to be perfect to try and involve our toddler with cooking, as he wants to help with everything and pulling the right mg seems to amuse him greatly (though I hold the bowl for him at all times).I wouldn't be able to get cooking done safely around my son without this thing, and I can't easily get someone else to help!I like to mix in herbs with onions and they get chopped a lot more nicely than doing it by hand in a fraction of the time.

Pull cord frays

This is my second purchase of this chopper. My first one was great and lasted about three years. This one has a different cord and within two or three uses, the outer cord appears to have completely frayed (makes a total mess every time I pull) , leaving a cord that looks like the cord on my original chopper. No clue how durable this cord is, but I'm going to buy a new chopper now so I'm not caught without during Thanksgiving meal prep. HUGELY disappointed.

Sadly, would not buy this again.

I had only used this 5 or 6 times when the cord broke, making this useless. I love the convenience and easy clean up, but soooo disappointed at it's short life. I wish I would have read other reviews before buying this. I would not have wasted my money.

I first had exposure to this type of chopper at my cousin's and was very impressed. I ordered one but it was an newer model. The things that I like about it, compared to her's, was the larger capacity, ring-pull feature which was easier to use, and the lid so that it could store unused product. Having said that, I really liked the first one so much better. This model chops very unevenly. I was using it to do a salad with chopped veggies the other day. I put in the same sized pieces of carrot, onion and celery. The carrot barely chopped in very uneven pieces while the onion and celery pulverised into mush. Larger pieces of the carrot also wedged in between blades. I tried it chopping items separately and there again was no consistency in regard to piece size.
