It took a few tries to figure out how to slice and dice veggies the way I wanted them to; for instance if I want to dice cucumbers, I must first slice them in 1/4" to 1/2" slices, depending on how small I wanted the pieces. Also best to slice tomatoes before dicing them, and use the larger dicing blade to do tomatoes. I was unsuccessful getting this gadget to mince garlic, but then I didn't expect it to perform on garlic - I prefer very tiny pieces of garlic in salads, etc. unless they are being baked in a chicken or casserole dish. Then the garlic can be chunkier. All in all, I am EXTREMELY happy with the Progressive GPC-4000 PREPWORKS Fruit & Vegetable Chopper! A great kitchen tool at a great price.

I used this for the first time just the other day. I used it to chop onions. I found that it was best to slice the onion in about 1/4 to 1/2 inch slices then process it with the chopper. I did have to put a little muscle into it and it snapped down and chopped the onion slice in one shot. Boy... was it ever a shot, when it went down it made a loud noise and I thought I broke it, but no worries, everything was in tact except for the onion. I love that all the pieces land in the container and onion chopping tears. Saves so much time and easy cleanup!

This looks like a great product in pictures, it is not very sturdy though. Cutting soft throngs like avocado is easy, anything else requires a lot of force and the thing sounds like it’s going to break. The dice is too big for my liking so you still have to chop to make it smaller. It also takes up a lot of space.

I was dubious about this item. I had seen a lot of the cheap knock offs circulating around and could tell they would break easily at the hinges with little force applied. This, however, is not the knock off... It is built so well, the plastics are extremely strong and solid and I have used it every day since it arrived (over a month ago now) to make everything. Salsa verde, pico de gajo, stir fry, omelette veggies, fresh veggie salads, fruit salads and that's not counting all the other meals I've just thrown a few chopped veg into. It is easy to clean, the little cleaning prong is great and it just rinses off with hot water. My family have been amazed at how quickly it really does everything. I use the smaller dicing blade for dehydrating most vegetables, so they can rehydrate easier. So for ease of use, I start with a thick slice, but not too thick, of whatever I am dehydrating, put it on my dicer and smack down the top, and that's it. As an example, I used my apple peeler, corer, slicer to do apples, took those slices and put through the dicer blade of the Progressive. A couple to three layers at a time. Worked awesomely! I bought this item specifically to chop onions. The photograph of the item shows it chopping an onion, so I assumed that it would do a great job. First time I used it, it would barely go through two layers of onion. If you are intending to use this for chopping anything other than a soft vegetable, don't buy it.
I ordered this a year ago. I figured I'd give it some time before I reviewed it. It is a great chopper. A cheap alternative to some more expensive ones. I would say my use of it is moderate as I don't cook daily. Each time I've used it, it has done the job with no problems. You do have to be mindful of what you are using it for. Soft fruits like bananas, strawberries, kiwi, etc. are a waste of time. Also, vegetables that tend to be hard like carrots may take a bit of elbow grease. This is a bare bones chopper that will get the job done but don't expect anything too extravagant. Definitely worth the price and will hold up for many uses. If the one I have ever does fall apart, I would definitely order the same one again.
Very happy with this product. You do have to cut the vegetables into quite small pieces to make it easy to chop but the vegetables end up very evenly diced and perfect for soups like Chicken and vegetables or Pea and ham soup.
Doesn't cut anything. Tried onions and they get stuck. Some veggies like cucumber cut, but it's very hard to push through.
Few years back bought onion cutter. Best product so thought to buy 3 blades one. Received yesterday and after keeping in garage for 24hr got this cutter to start prepping lunch by cutting onion. Long story short 180lb hubby stopped trying in fear of breaking product and I'm typing review while onion still waiting on cutting board. Not happy with you Progressive
