Christian Dior Hypnotic Poison - 150ml Eau De Toilette Spray

The Hypnotic Poison fragrance is undoubtedly a 90s classic, and an iconic gourmand-amber fragrance that has been coveted by women and men for decades. It begins soft and sweet with a delectable stone fruit jam scent, topped off with ample sprinkles of dessicated coconut. Smooth, powdery vanilla and a ‘cyanide’ almond accord soon steal the spotlight - this is where HP rightfully gets its scandalous name from, as this blend is inimitably hypnotic (some would say its hypnotising powers are poisonous!). Soon after, a dusky sandalwood cuts through to the base, where all is dark and brooding. It isn’t as pungent as it once was, but I’d say Dior have retained its hypnotic qualities over the years, so I can’t complain. The poison apple bottle is stunning too!

I get compliments all the time & have even written down the perfume name for women who think it smells that good that they want to try it! One of my fondest memories is that my mother wore the same cologne for years that it has permeated all her clothes & I love that she always smelled good. With notes of vanilla & sandalwood, I have been told I smell like everything for sugar cookies to cotton candy! The scent is distinctive w/o being overpowering. For the price of this perfume, it is a great value. If you live in colder climates you could wear this all year long, but otherwise this is not for warmer climates. Very unique, I’ve never had another fragrance that I would compare it to. Seductive vanilla and amber. The amber in here reminds me slightly of that iconic BR540 which is like ozonic and mesmerizing to me. The vanilla is the star of the show but as it stays on skin longer, it becomes much more complex than just vanilla. Lasts forever and a couple spritzes go a long way. This scent smells exactly as the bottle portrays it. Like a red vixen. PS…some ppl get playdoh vibes from this,and I can kind of see what they mean, but it’s just for a split second.

A Zillennial’s signature scent since 2014!

In undergrad I worked in the Macy’s cosmetic/fragrance department during the holiday season and got to try out many different popular perfumes. This perfume entranced me upon first spray and as time wore on, the dry down and residual smells HOOKED me! This does NOT smell like play dough to me! Again, everyone has different body chemistry and I feel this works amazingly with mine. The first spray does remind me a bit of vanilla root beer, BUT YOU NEED TO WAIT FOR THE DRYDOWN PHASE. That phase is more important to me than the initial spray as that is what you will smell for the 8+ hours after. The scent quickly evolves into a delicious, creamy almond vanilla. It is worth every penny to me because you only need a couple sprays max and it will last for 6+ hours. Back when infinity scarves were trendy, I’d spray this onto my knit scarves and it would last until I washed them. I always receive compliments from both men and women when I wear this! This perfume gives elegant, pretty, and young and not powdery, crotchety and old. This definitely is a fall/winter perfume but that’s okay as it is strong and lasts in windy and cold weather. A few reviewers have stated that the formula changed but I have not noticed that. I’ll update if anything changes!

An old favourite

I first bought this perfume back in 2007 after I smelled it on someone I worked with and had to ask what scent they were wearing. Each bottle has always lasted me a long time (particularly as I like to switch up my perfumes for the season and this I would say is more suited to autumn/winter). After my 2nd or 3rd bottle it didn't seem to be available in as many places as before.Now years later I saw it at John Lewis and decided to treat myself and it's still as nice as ever. It's a vanilla/amber scent but in a more grown up way than other overly sweet perfumes. It has a powdery almond undertone to it rather than caramel-sweet type vanilla. I managed to find one of these products which was labeled Poison and the bottle was a deep purple which I didn't realize until I was in my late twenties and I was living in the city, that this was a very well done copy of the original brand name by CD and I only came across this realization after I found Hypnotic Poison (EDP) at the perfumery in my city years ago. I had this 100ml bottle of Hypnotic Poison (EDP) for a very long time before I needed to get more.. sadly I learned that Shoppers Drug Mart doesn't sell the actual Hypnotic Poison real perfume and that they only sell the alcohol based version. It is still very beautiful and I have been buying it and still loving it the most over anything else. I just think that the Hypnotic Poison (EDT) isn't the same as the (EDP) and I also therefore don't understand why the labels and descriptions aren't clearly stating that there is a significant difference between the two and also Shoppers Drug Mart staff should be aware of this fact and should be able to identify the difference between EDT and EDP versions and I think that alcohol based scent should not be considered perfume when it's not called perfume by the manufacturer as it's alcohol based not perfume oil based. Real perfume lasts longer, and you don't have to use as much at one time to get the same result. I've also heard that the Hypnotic Poison perfume has changed so be careful with where you are buying it from.You might end up with a very close knockoff product which could send you away from something that you may have fallen in love with had you not been trying to get it cheaper.

One woman even followed my scent in the store until she found me just to ask me what I'm wearing. If you were just as devastated as I was when Dior changed the formula for Hypnotic Poison. RUN AND GET THIS NOW. Oakcha team, please never ever stop making this scent. I've been in tears all day because I am so grateful that I found this website and I feel as though I have my signature scent back. One of the most unique scents ever made.

I purchased this item from Dior as l used to have this 20years ago and loved it. I saw Dior had a 150ml bottle for a great price so l treated myself. Its just how l remember it, a gorgeous scent, so unique there is nothing else on the market now or in the past quite like it. Im so glad l have some again.I usually buy my perfumes from other retailers so never get free gifts with my purchase, but Dior sent it in the most beautiful presentation box it was pure luxury with a load of free gifts that made the experience so special opening it & checking out the goodies, and the box is worthy of keeping and treasuring too.I will come to Dior to buy my scents in the future. Poison...it's my style!!!

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PRODUCT. However, THIS PRODUCT IS SUPER STRONG WITH OUTRAGEOUS SILLAGE AND IT ISN'T FOR EVERYONE. I have a strong personality. And I am also rather complex and I'm not the youngest bird in the flock...and this scent is super strong. I literally stick my nose on the spritzer...I love it that much!!! I can't get enough. It's a bit like cotton candy with dark undertones but if you can't stand a strong sillage this stuff will knock you off your feet and could even give you a headache if you are migraine prone. It's called Hypnotic Poison for a reason. Poison isn't for everyone just the beautiful women who have the strength to enjoy it. And love it I do with a passion!!! The first thing I wanted to say is on the website the packaging looked a little cheap and uninspired (to me at least). However, in real life, it's actually very nice. It comes in a matching pink box with a magnetic flap and the bottle is secured inside with some sturdy black foam like material.On the scent, I have had 2 dior's hypnotic poison bottles over the years and it has been the only smell that felt "me." I usually have a hard time picking a fragrance...I have been quite hesitant to repurchase dior though due to the high price. I am no longer at a point in my life where I wanna "splurge" a lot. Eventually, I decided to look up if oakcha has something similar to dior's hypnotic poison, and they did!I am happy to inform that the smell is spot on. Oakcha feels a little more concentrated from the bottle cap, which is not a bad thing at all actually! The spray nozzle really dispenses a lot if you keep pressing, and it is very satisfying to use (whereas with dior and other designer perfumes, it gives you a small "sneeze" and you have to keep reapplying). Like I mentioned, oakcha scent feels stronger so you really only need maybe half a full spray. It lasts a long time too! It really does! With dior, I felt like I couldn't smell my perfume after an hour or so, which I know they say is because you get used to it/blah blah, but honestly, I've always felt like it's just their way of justifying why the perfumes don't last. With only mine by oakcha, a single spray lasted the whole day without re-application and the next morning I still smelt it on my hands.In conclusion, oakcha has a nice lingering and subtle smell that you can amp up or tone down by using more/less of the spray nozzle, and it sure lasts!
