A brilliant garden toy for one or two kids (or adults...). This version which you stick into the ground is also miles better and much more robust than the 'heavy base' all surface version which we found a bit flimsy. Fab for a fairly small space. Our kids (6 and 9) have had loads of fun with it.

This is the one to buy. There are others but this works great.I hammered a suitable diameter copper pipe into the lawn, leaving about six inches above ground. I then placed the swingball pole into the pipe. This prevents the hole in the lawn from getting bigger as the pole moves. If the diameter of the pipe is still a little large you can use some duct tape to reduce this around the top. But remember there is a pipe sticking out now so be careful and put an upside down plant put to cover it, or pop a flag in it !

I bought the swing all for my grandsons (aged10 and 7) . They both love it . It secures into the ground by solidly giving good stability for playing safely . In fact their father and mother enjoy a game as well . Excellent quality and value for money

I wanted a swing ball, and decided to get this one with a spike to secure it in the ground rather than with a plastic base to fill with sand or water because it would take less room. The first problem was trying to get it in the dry London clay of my lawn. There is a small plate that it appears you are supposed to stand on to get it into the soil but it's too small to use. So we tried hitting it instead but bent the plate. We finally hit the pole, with a block over the top to protect the pole. We still didn't manage to get the plate flush with the ground, and so, after one game, it was too wobbly to use.We will try to reposition it and get it all the way into the ground, but I'm regretting not getting one with a plastic base to fill with sand or water.
Just the right challenge for my six year old granddaughter and we all enjoy playing with her. I like the fact that it is easy to move when not needed. It is perfect for those who have a lawn and ours has stayed stable. It is good value and my granddaughter is pleased with the progress she has made.

Following an operation and unable to play outside games with my 11 year old grandson over Easter I bought this which was an instant success and was played with for hours. It was perfect for a strong young boy to whack constantly! Just the correct height for a tall youngster but could be adjusted for shorter players. He assembled it easily and it was excellent to stick in the grass and could be taken out and replaced the next day with ease. Also perfect for two players when his mother came to pick him up and challenged him to a match! Buying from John Lewis on-line was easy and stress free. I was able to pick it up from Waitrose the next day without hassle.

I bought the swing ball game for my granddaughters visit. They had great fun with it all afternoon when they visited me for the day. I too played the game with them.
