Negatives- Extremely heavy (29.5kg) not 19.4kgBag is pretty cheap, cant see the zipper lasting very long, have to fight with it to get everything back into the bag.Hoping that the awing panels give enough cover from the rain when open. Will be a annoying having to enter exit tent if its fully closed and may get very hot inside. Disappointing they don't have rain fly for the 8p tent size, that would fix that issue.Be nice if it had guy rope pockets.Positives- lights work great and good design.nice and dark, keeps tent cooler, over all seems descent quality.Future trips will be leaving some poles out to lighten load, hopefully will get easier and quicker at packing up.

We used it for the first time this weekend and we are very pleased. The led light strips are awesome and the dark room effect works like a charm. Would definitely recommend. We used the one side as a bedroom and the other as a kitchen/storage room. Perfect size for my husband and myself. Fits a double high queen air mattress.
I bought Instant Up 8P Lighted Northstar Darkroom in November. Received on-time despite delivery interruptions prior to Xmas. Easy set up and extremely dark inside!
Lights work great. Quick set up. Needs all the guy ropes pegged in to stay upright in a moderate breeze. Door zippers don't go to the floor so not great if you like a full door for air. Very roomy, fits 2 queen mattresses with space on the sides. Canopy works well.
Set up by myself the first time in ~30 mins. Packed up by myself also in ~30 mins. Size is very good for 2 queen beds. Lighting is good. Construction quality and design overall is very good.
Perfect size tent for a family of four with the fun features of the interior lighting, storage and the excellent dark coating which delivers on its promise.Have had an issue with a corner pole extension unfortunately. The spring clip is held in the inner pole with a plastic bung only. It's a weak interface and mine popped out when extending, requiring disassembly and refitting, with some epoxy to hold the clip/bung assembly into the pole. Best to take some care putting up. Have found it more effective to assemble the poles and then clip on the tent inner as it lessens the force required to put tension on the frame in the final steps.Bar these issues it's a good buy with some great features.Have had no issues packing it up as it squeezes in well. Easy tent to setup - was a fairly intuitive process I found - but good that the instructions were attached to the bag so you always had a good reference point. Nice materials. Not as spacious as the 10P but fits in everything nicely and is slightly less heavy!
A follow up review after a couple of weeks of use. The Coleman instant up remains a good value family tent for weekend use and small trips. We have sadly had to bin ours after winds destroyed the pole mechanism even though ours was fully pegged out and all guy ropes in place. The internal clip sheared in half, blowing out the pole. The winds were unseasonal for the Finke river, but it is something to be aware of for prospective buyers. We have upgraded to a heavier duty touring/4WD tent, but would still recommend the Coleman instant up for families needing a light duty tent: the lighting is great and has lots of nice features for a good price.
