Bought these hoping to use as daily sneakers and mild trail walks. This is an odd design. The entire body of the shoe is very soft, pliable mesh (the grey section). It almost feels like a water shoe. The heel (black part) is super rigid and the difference between the two creates a biting friction on my heel. I wore them a few times before I figured this out they wouldn't break in due to the design. Unfortunately they are not even comfortable enough to mow the lawn in so they are off to the thrift store.

Got these May of 22. Excellent shoe. On casual light hikes and around town, these are spectacular. ALL-DAY COMFORTABLE which I think is pretty rare in my book, for any shoe. Only time these shoes haven’t worked for me is when I walk outside on softer ground (soaked grass, light mud). Loose rock and gravel are a bit too much for these as well. So I guess I’m saying these aren’t hiking shoes really, at least in my book. The soles are very, very soft and they have worn down fairly quickly. But if you want a super comfortable shoe that you can walk all day in and take out into the country a bit where you need a little grip, these are your shoes.

The shoe construction is ok and can stand up to the conditions you find outside. The fit is bad and after a month of using them I'm giving up. The back is very hard and has a steep angle so if your foot is all the way back it will chew up the back of your foot. The tongue (the thing in the middle between the laces has a super thick end piece that will press on top of your toes. If you tie it slightly loose so that the back of your foot doesn't become hamburger after about 30 mins of hiking or trail running then you get to experience your toes slamming into the front of your shoe. I had these shoes a month to see if they would get better after a wear in period but I'm tired of waiting and getting something else.If you go with these shoes I would recommend a half to ... MoreThe shoe construction is ok and can stand up to the conditions you find outside. I wanted a lightweight hiking shoe for an upcoming overseas trip and this seems to meet my expectations. I thought this actually could optionally be a slip-on shoe, which would have been even better, based on the photos. The photos or text should indicate that it is not, as slip-ons are becoming more common. The cushioning also seems a little thin in the front. Past experience with Columbia shoes helped me guess right on the sizing. I usually take a 9.5 or 10, and going with a 10 was the right call.
These are some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. Especially if you need a wide toe. I mean it, seriously comfortable. Unfortunately, as the entire shoe is basically completely mesh, your feet are not protected from dirt or water at all. Step in the smallest puddle, your foot is wet. Do a little bit of outdoor work or hike through a dirty or dusty area, your feet are completely dirty. But again, they are super comfortable. I wear them quite a bit if I'm going where it won't be dirty or raining.
Favorite for wearing around town and through trails that meander around-town and on loose gravel. Very solid feel. Flexible for various foot positions, decent during winter (best for in between the change of the seasons) and breathable. I like how I can tighten it like a boot to secure around the ankles while still feeling like a hiking shoe. Saying that, they're not the most supportive on a full on sprint while carrying weight. It is quite comparable to Altama's that I sometimes wear on deployments. If Fairbanks came in coyote brown, I'd wear them in uniform too. Too bad Columbia doesn't produce boots for the military even though their crosstown rivals, Danner, does.
This shoe is the shoe of my dreams! Besides the amazing color of olive green, it has so many features that make this shoe the shoe for all occasions! Let’s talk hiking. It has amazing grip and a sole that provides the stability to trek over dirt paths, tree roots, and riverbeds. The material of the main shoe body has some flex so even snug fits aren’t too snug. Need the shoe for daily street wear? No problem, its design allows for street use without the strange glances. The shoe is breathable, durable, and comfortable. Needless to say this is most likely the best shoe I’ve ever bought. The only downside is that they don’t include extra shoelaces or even have the option to buy a second pair. Other than that, BEST…SHOE…EVER!
This shoes, for me, were almost perfect! They fit true to size, are great fit a myriad of uses, and look great! This will be the 4th pair I’ve bought now and i hope you don’t get rid of these anytime soon. I’ve used them for hiking, and well as my everyday shoe. They also are fairly slip resistant, and I work at an Aquarium, so I am walking across slippery surfaces every day! They seem to be fairly sturdy, however the sides tend to rip 1st, but that might be my wife feet :)The only complaint I have is that they should include a second pair of laces or offer them on the store as the green shoes have a unique pattern on their laces that I can’t get anywhere else and my 1st pair of laces ripped.Otherwise, these are amazing and I would recommend them to anyone!
The shoes arrived and I’ve had the chance to wear them twice. Can you really judge a shoe by two wearing? Two emails already to rate the shoes so it gets a 3/5 - does it deserve that maybe not but the marketing guys need to back off. First wearing? The heel cups had pokey bits that bothered me. Uppers are a “waffle” fabric that looks a bit cheap, looks like it may collect dirt, and may not wear as well my other Columbia hikers. Comfort was decent enough and tread is nice and grippy. Soles aren’t Vibram, so time will tell how they wear.
Great shoe right out of box.I have wide feet, and though these shoes aren't available in wide sizes, they have a comfortable width that has allowed hours of walking with no issues.Columbia's sizing is a little different than other brands, so I recommend ordering a half size larger than your regular size. I did and they fit great. Eg: I'm 6', 195lbs and I wear a size 9, I ordered 9.5Very light, and feel great on outdoor and indoor surfaces.Breathe very well. Great for casual walking around town, or light hiking.I live on East Coast of Canada, and they feel great and perform well on small day hikes or walking my dog through our rough and rocky trails.I'm not sure I'd wear them for serious backpacking or days long heavy treks through rough terrain.Go good ... MoreGreat shoe right out of box.I have wide feet, and though these shoes aren't available in wide sizes, they have a comfortable width that has allowed hours of walking with no issues.Columbia's sizing is a little different than other brands, so I recommend ordering a half size larger than your regular size.
