In my opinion 70 street / 30 offroad. It runs very smoothly on paved road concidering the tread profile. Off road performance is fantastic in dry conditions. I haven't ran it in deep mud, however it performs very well on typical wet dirt roads. The tire came well packed with a recent production date. No balance weights were required which speaks to good construction. I would buy it again.

Cycle Gear is super impressive, my first time using them for tire mounting, I ordered tires online from Cycle Gear, dropped the wheels and tires at my local store, they called later that day. Total cost including recycling fee, under $70. The dealer charges over $200 for install if you roll your bike in. Totally worth it. It takes longer to gather the tools than it does to remove the wheels. My old tire place has closed so Cycle Gear will be my go to moving forward, probably another example of the big guy eating the little guy. But when price and service is this.....

These are a great choice for on/off-rode tires. I think they wear pretty quick, but you get excellent traction for it. I've got a 130hp 620lb ADV bike and traction in corners on the street is outstanding. Plus, I've been able to go on any backroad I dare and have never had a problem. If you can, get a TKC 70 Rocks for the rear if you're going to do much off-road. They have the same grip on the street, but much better traction off-road due to their slightly different tread design. Thumbs up.

These tires have excellent grip wet or dry, they're stable in a straight line, they corner well, and they look great. They would be 5-star tires, but on my Bonneville T120, the front burned up in about 5,000 miles while the rear was still going strong. I don't ride like a maniac and I keep an eye on my pressures. Considering how stiff they are (which makes changing them a pain) and that they're supposedly meant for big adventure tourers, I expected to get more mileage.Maybe they work better on other bikes, but 5,000 miles is remarkably short-lived.
I've put nearly 1k miles on em so far and there's nothing bad to report. They seem to roll smooth at 80mph and grab sufficiently on Texas Hill-country back roads. All paved. I have not encountered torrential rains or adverse weather conditions, however I felt secure with a light drizzle on the road. Of course I have abs as well. I'd recommend these to anyone with an adventure touring bike or the like. 4 stars for the tread life because I haven't had enough miles to really say.
I have only put no more than 10 miles on them so my review is more like first impressions si I can't speak for longevity. So still scrubbing off the tires but they feel great. I used to have TKC80's on my bike and found them to be great off road and incredibly sticky on pavement.I know these are more pavement and milder off road capable, still expecting good things although not as aggressive off road.Love the pattern. The tire looks great.
Let me tell you my story with this tire. Slapped it on my T700 this spring and did the giant loop rally in southern oregon. Rode 1100 miles there and back. I then rode a few months later to Grand Tetons, yellowstone amd then up to Glacier national park and back home totaling over 3,500 miles. This tire got me through dirt, gravel, super wet roads (torrential downpour) with absolutely no issues. It is time for a new one after about 5k miles, but it is a great tire. Highway miles, dirt trails, this tire eats it all up no problem.
The front tire looks good. It rides nice and the grip is good in wet or dry. I have not taken it off road yet. The turn in to corners seems a bit slow but nothing bad. It is slightly noisy but not to the extent of being annoying. Overall it is a good tire and I am happy with it. I have not ridden it long enough to have an opinion about tread life.
I typically use TKC 80 on the front and TKC 80 or now the TKC 70 Rocks on the rear. I have use the TKC 70 standard rear as well. The TKC 80 rear achieved 6500 km on about 60% asphalt and 40% gravel at a cost of $239 or 3.7 cents per kmThe TKC 70 Rocks rear, so far has achieved 7600 km, and I suspect it will reach about 9000+ km in total. Again about the same split 60/40 asphalt and gravel. The tire cost $271 or 3.0 cents per km.The TKC 80 at 3.7 cents per km would have an operational cost of $333 or $62 dollars more (plus a tire change). That was over 4 months of riding so 15 bucks a month, less than a tank of fuel.I change my own tires at home or on the road if required so no cost there but it could add up for others. Thus, I am very happy with the results. ... MoreI typically use TKC 80 on the front and TKC 80 or now the TKC 70 Rocks on the rear. I would definitely use a TKC 70 Rocks for a longer trip (Calgary to Tuk) but maybe the 80’s if I stay closer to home and keep the % gravel up.I have a new TKC 80 in my garage ready to install once I do the next 1400 km BUT may very well order a TKC 70 rocks anyway. The front TKC 80 has lasted 14,200 km so far and I suspect it has another 1000 left. The Dunlop TrailMax front looks like a possibility at $177 with the TKC 80 at $196 but I am likely to stick with the 80.I have been very pleased with the tire in all conditions.
I installed the TKC Rocks on my 22' Tiger Rally with a Dunlop Mission front and it's a great combination for street and dirt. They currently have 1400 miles of mixed street and off road from a recent trip to the NEBDR and look great with very little noticeable wear. The TKC hooked up really well in rocks, mud and everything in between. On pavement it acts like a street tire-excellent. One reviewer claimed it's "sketchy" until scrubbed in, I didn't notice that at all. Its never slipped on wet or dry pavement even when new and pushing a bit in sport mode. It's also very quiet. It's now my "go to" back tire after trying nearly everything available on prior bikes (F8GS, KTM 990/890/390 adv). As for the Dunlop Mission front, it's a bit noisy on pavement but quieter than the Heidenau Scout and much quieter than Tractionators. Very confidence inspiring in gravel/sandy corners and both wet dirt and wet pavement. It's the heaviest front tire i've tried but not a deal breaker. Mated with the TKC 70 Rocks, its a stellar combination. The Mission Trail still looks new after the first 1400 miles. This combo is a bit pricy but the performance you get is worth it.
