Beware of those highly sensitive keys!

The only question now is if I can actually get used to those overly-sensitive keys.

[Rewarded Review] Corsair makes great peripherals
23 December 2016

I had been using ergonomic (membrane) keyboards for almost 20 years, so it was really hard for me to get used to typing on a straight keyboard again. Being an RPG gamer, I never realized how much my keyboard could affect my performance until I started playing FPSes.I finally ended up buying this keyboard on a whim when my bluetooth travel keyboard started messing up on me while I was out of town. This keyboard (without the 10-key) fits in my backpack with my tablet. It's considerably heavier than a travel keyboard, but I have been using it at home on my desktop for a couple of months now and I'm glad I made the purchase. The straight keyboard still hurts my wrists when I have to do a lot of typing for work, but if it ever gets too bad, I can still hook up my old ... MoreI had been using ergonomic (membrane) keyboards for almost 20 years, so it was really hard for me to get used to typing on a straight keyboard again. For gaming, it's excellent! If Corsair made ergonomic mechanical keyboards with negative tilt, I would buy it in a heartbeat. My only complaint about it is the lights don't turn off automatically when the computer goes to sleep. Every night I lock my computer screen (and let the computer auto-sleep after idle) and have to manually turn off the lights. When I unlock the computer in the morning, the light "wakes" with the computer.

[Rewarded Review] Decent Keyboard, Software & Support Sucks
20 October 2018

I've recently replaced this keyboard and decided I should write a review so that other people don't end up disappointed if they had similar expectations.I will say that overall this is a good keyboard, nice option if you want a ten-keyless design, and the included keycap tool/additional MOBA keys or WASD cluster keys is great. I would rate this product higher if the Corsair software wasn't terrible, and feature lacking.More than anything what is annoying is the macro keys. I am accustomed to Razer, Logitech, Steel Series, etc. and having an easy way to set up a macro key so I can leave something going in a game or on my desktop then hit it again to end. There is NO way to do this with Corsair! There is NO way to do this with Corsair! What's even dumber is if you start a macro say you want to run a few hundred times, even if you kill all the Corsair software running the macro won't stop! You either let it run its course or reboot.Apparently it USED to be a feature available in the software, that was for some reason removed. I contacted support just to confirm after forum crawling about this issue, and they were unhelpful and utterly dismissive (after not initially even understanding my request and repeatedly pointing me to download the software which I was already familiar with at that point).Overall I'd say save yourself the headache and either get a Logitech G series (always been pretty great) or if you're dead set on the cherry red style switches find an appropriate alternative online. Corsair makes some good stuff but I doubt I'll buy any more peripherals from them.

[Rewarded Review] Great Keyboard

First off I just want to state that this is a great keyboard. The keys feel good and the lighting is spot on. The size of this keyboard is on the small size due to the exclusion of the number pad and the extra function buttons that you normally see on gaming keyboards. For me, this is a plus since I do have limited space to work. This keyboard also has a set of media keys at the top of the keyboard: Mute, Volume Up, and Volume down. It also has a windows lock button for those times that you want to lock out the functions of the windows keys. It also has a brightness intensity button. The keys feel pretty good. It also has a windows lock button for those times that you want to lock out the functions of the windows keys. It also has a brightness intensity button. The keys feel pretty good. The stiffness is great for those who like to rest their fingers on the keyboard before they depress a button. The shapes of the keys are also nice and fit my fingers well. The one issue I have is that my typing speed has decreased slightly. This is due to the pressure and distance my fingers must overcome to depress each key. The keyboard I came from was a membrane keyboard which had a much shorter travel distance per key and little activation resistance. The lighting is cool. I currently have the keyboard set to show all keys red on a low light setting. When I press a key, a random color explodes across the keyboard. I like the effect. I also have the keyboard programed to recognize a few games. When I start up MechWarrior Online, every key that I require to play the game is lit in a different color and grouped according to function. The keys I do not use are turned off. I am a touch typist so if I need to type a communication to my teammates I can do so with ease.Other features I like about this board. It is quiet when compared to Razors mechanical keyboard. This is not to say that this board doesn't click loudly. What I am saying is that it isn't obnoxious about it like Razor. The keyboard also has a quality feel about it. The keys don't have that cheap plastic feel about them like some other keyboards I auditioned. The plate under the keys is metal and the body of the keyboard is stiff plastic. Again, the plastic does not have a cheap feel about it. The only thing I wish Corsair did was release the Cherry Red Silent keys with this same chassis. I did audition those keys and preferred them but the keyboard was too big and the media keys that I rely upon were missing. Finally, I have to point out the negative of this keyboard. The software truly sucks. The organization of screens, effects, programmable features, and profiles are confusing and poorly implemented. Supposedly I can create a mode for each profile and somehow I am supposed to know how to switch between profiles. I had to watch a YouTube video by a review just to get a simple lesson on how to manage the software. And even then, I stopped manipulating the keyboard lighting features at what I described above. There has to be a better, more streamlined way of making the lighting features available to the average person.Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and hope to have years of gaming, general computing, and typing ahead of me with this keyboard.

[Rewarded Review] Worst experience with Corsair keyboard ever...
15 January 2015

Just as the title implies, I've owned multiple Corsair keyboards. I've owned (4) Vengeance K70's, and now this, thing. I have never, EVER experiences double taps (or double registers) this early in the life of any mechanical keyboard. Two of the four K70's that I owned eventually (after about a year of use) started to double tap. One double tapping pretty moderately, but even still no where NEAR as much as this keyboard does and with as many keys showing the issue. The other K70 that eventually started double tapping would occasionally do so, and it was with only one key. This thing, the "Corsair Gaming", or whatever they've rebranded themselves as, K65 RGB "Best Buy Exclusive" started showing double taps just past one month of use. They were not that bad as first, but within the next month they became horrible. To give you an idea about how bad this thing is, it will double tap a majority of the switches, and on average it does it every 50-70 characters. Sometimes much more often. Just writing this review alone I've had to backspace and retype, having to retype the retypes even, almost every single sentence. It's a bit ridiculous. I am baffled as to what the cause may be, but I'm starting to lean toward it being these new RGB switches.Other than this ridiculously horrible double tap issue, everything else seems to be alright. Well, everything's about the same as a K70, just minus the num pad and a roller volume wheel. The "press up/press down" volume keys on this keyboard are okay, but when you're changing volume moderately it's a bit of a pain having to "tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap tap" instead of giving it a swipe of the finger. One other very minor thing I wasn't very pleased with was the fact that in order to take advantage of the RGB feature, and adjust your colors and such it requires you to plug in two separate USB cables. I'm guessing one's a data cable or some such, because there is no USB pass through on this thing like there was on the K70's. But, what you can do iis simply just temporarily plug in both while you're adjusting your colors and such, then when you're done simply unplug one of the USB's and it will hold the setting...I'm really not fond of the software needed to adjust the colors on the board (in particular how it functions) and the brightness of the LEDs. If you choose any color other than the brightest colors, such as the brightest red, the brightest blue, brightest green, yellow or white the LEDs are not nearly bright enough. So if I want to actually see my keys light up and have them look nice, I get to choose between a few colors. Not a lot of customization. Also, the way the software works it has to CONSTANTLY be running in the background in order to hold some settings, such as intensity/brightness settings. Which is kind of a pain because some of the media keys will show up a LOT brighter than others, so if you want to adjust the intensity you have to have yet another piece of useless software constantly running in the background taking up resources, all to have a fancy keyboard. I'm not sure if the software must be running 24/7 in order to hold reactive lighting settings or flash patterns and such, but I have a feeling it might. Also I want to mention, as I don't know if anybody else has noticed this themselves also, or if it's just my imagination. But these "Cherry MX Red" RGB switches don't feel like classic Cherry MX Red switches. They are a lot quieter, especially when bottoming out. I believe that has something to do with the body design of the switch acting as a buffer or some such. But that was one of the things I liked about red switches the most. The clack clack when it would bottom out.So there you have it. Granted, I might have just won the "Garbage Keyboard of the Batch Lottery" and others might not have this problem, but it's really putting me off. This thing apparently carries a decent average rating here on Best Buy's website (though people who write reviews on BestBuy.com usually tend to be more "casual users", and to casual users, some problems may not show up, or they may never notice them.Good luck!

[Rewarded Review] best keyboard
17 September 2016

To put it simple it's a no Brainer here this keyboard is small so it'll fit on any desk with plenty of space for your mouse. Fully customizable keys it's pretty much an new addiction to mess with a little confusing at first but easy to learn how to do. It's clicks from the keystroke are pretty much a smooth quite click you almost can't tell you pressed the keys in my opinion. Great USB added to the back of the keyboard works every time. very usefully for plugging in small devices like USB drive, phones, controllers, etc etc. It's easy to keep clean with there being no ledges you can shake the keyboard out for dust with ease. Not to forget the frame is pretty much bullet proof. The hand rest that comes with feel amazing to rest your wrist on it feels a little ... MoreTo put it simple it's a no Brainer here this keyboard is small so it'll fit on any desk with plenty of space for your mouse. This keyboard is amazing if you can get over the fact there's no key pad or simply don't like a keypad like me then this board will fully satisfy the needs of every gamer. Only one bad thing and it could just been a thing I encounter but the little corsair emblem at the top started lifting from day one its sad because it's nicely done emblem.Summary, just buy this right now!
