8 GB Memory Module Kit for Mac Book Pro

I bought my Mac Book Pro early 2011 and started out with Final Cut Pro to make movies and edit footage and then I had to upgrade to Adobe Premier which functions best, and basically requires, an 8GB memory chip. SO! I bought this from B&H because I saw so many different versions being sold @ etc. but feel I can better rely on B&H and know that I get a good quality product for a price equal to what I would find on Ebay or Amazon but the bonus is my knowing that I will receive this product in great condition. And so it came, in great condition, to my door step and it was incredibly simple to put it my computer. So far, it sounds like I should have put 5 stars. It did not do this as well as I hoped. Maybe it's because of how I inserted it? Or some distinct condition my computer is in in regards to the fans, I don't know. But I do know that the condition of the chips is not the problem...I hope not because then I would not know what to think of B&H. I am now inspired to do more research about this company. I have good expectations of it and will continue to purchase product from this company because I have had great outcomes with previously purchased products.

Definitely a good buy

My Macbook pro Late 2011 started slowing down the past few months especially with the usage of Microsoft office programs such as Word and Powerpoint. The programs would take from 1-3 minutes to load and it was very frustrating. I was given the advice of upgrading my RAM to help with the speed of my laptop. I upgraded the RAM from 2 x 2GB (total 4GB) to 2 x 4GB (total 8GB) as purchased. My laptop is so much faster right now, and significantly so when opening Microsoft office programs. The load time for opening Microsoft programs is currently 3seconds instead of previous 1-3minutes. I have the Memory Clean app and before I changed the RAM the free memory available was 1-3% and now it has increased to an average of 20%. My Macbook Pro still takes a long time to start ... MoreMy Macbook pro Late 2011 started slowing down the past few months especially with the usage of Microsoft office programs such as Word and Powerpoint. I'm not sure if this is the reason but I am reluctant to upgrade my OS for fear of either draining the battery faster or slowing down the laptop. This RAM was a good price on the website and it arrived within 2-3 days. Definitely a good investment in helping with the speed of the laptop.

Great Product, Really Happy With It

I regularly use programs like Adobe Photoshop and Premiere. At least I tried to - before this memory upgrade on my Early 2011 MacBook Pro. I couldn't move layers in Photoshop with my previous MBP memory. The program would crash the moment I tried to move a layer, so unfortunately I learned to work with. After the update, I'm just feeling stupid cause I should have done the upgrade years ago. Don't debate it. It made me like my laptop again.

Great product!
13 March 2018

My 7-year-old Mac was not performing well due to not having enough memory. I'd only had 4GB installed when I bought it, so it wasn't too hard to figure out. Fortunately, this problem was easily resolved by adding two Crucial 4GB memory cards, which were very easily installed (thank you, Crucial, for your excellent video and printable step-by-step guides). Crucial also was able to tell me exactly which memory cards I needed and delivered them to my door within days. So now with the full 16GB memory, my Mac runs like new. Thanks Crucial!

Review of (8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3) Performance
9 November 2015

I use Neat Receipts and iPhoto. These applications require more memory.I was expecting faster response time. Not sure if this would happen with even more memory. I have been tagging my photos with iPhoto Tagger. It takes several days to tag a library containing 44,000 plus images. My Mac ejects my external drive containing my photos and then the whol library is missing. I have had to start tagging all over again. This still happens with more memory, and it could be an operating system or sofware problem instead.

Went from editing in proxy to full HD ProRes! (no raid)
10 October 2017

I make videos for a living. I use a 2.5GHz i7 Late 2011 17 MacBook Pro, and it was lightning fast in the beginning. Came with Snow Leopard. Then, by the time I got to Mavericks, I had to buy an SSD to make it fast again, because the new OSes always make everything slower. Earlier this year I upgraded to OS Sierra and everything worked correctly, but very slowly compared to the old Snow Leopard days. Things were slow again. I've always only ever been able to edit 1080p video in proxy, using ProRes Proxy as my editing codec. That was with 8GB of RAM on an external USB 3 drive, piped in via thunderbolt adapter (no RAID). Upgrading my RAM to 16GB with this RAM enabled me to edit in full HD ProRes codecs without any chopping during playback! I can almost get away with ... MoreI make videos for a living. I can almost get away with full res 4K, but it still chops about once every two seconds. I should have done this years ago.

Works great in my small refurbished Optiplex 790
24 October 2020

When I discovered my refurbished Dell 790 only had 2Gb of RAM, I ordered this straight away. When I got it, I was worried about it fitting in the smaller form factor case. (The one original stick was very short) Fits great, works great. I'll be ordering another two sticks soon. It's like being able to walk and chew gum again. (Or run Chrome and Spotify)
