Cuisinart Perfectemp Cordless Electric Kettle Stainless

The handle placement here is unfortunate in that when you’re holding the handle to fill it up, it inhibits you from clearly seeing the water level mark. Even when you’re not holding it, the water level being partially behind the handle makes this awkward to view. I upgraded from my cheaper Hamilton Beach kettle and am disappointed in this design. You can choose the final temperature, but you cannot see the temperature progress as it boils, making it less specifically customizable than others I’d used. Furthermore, the water opening is much smaller, making that harder to hold and fill under the faucet. Altogether, small things, but in an appliance I use several times a day, these features are inferior and make it less pleasant to use. The weight and shape is pleasing, and from other reviews, I understand that the quality and longevity will be superior, but altogether, I have a machine I like less that I’ll probably have twice as long. I’m disappointed and wish I’d replaced it with my same former brand.

I was excited to receive my cordless kettle from Cuisinart after reading reviews. Granted the reviews were mixed, but overall, I’ve been happy with Cuisinart products in the past, so decided that this would be the one. Well, I wish I had thought longer on it. The kettle is heavy and difficult to manage. It does not pour well as water pours out in many directions from the spout. One would think that the kettle would be ultra careful with the pouring design. The beeps are so faint that we can barely hear them when we do hear them. Often we can’t hear them at all when standing right by the kettle. They seem to be somewhat intermittent. The keep warm function is not intuitive and rarely stays on when set. It looks pretty, and yes, we do get hot water when using it, but if I were buying again I would not purchase this one.

I have owned the Cuisinart electric kettle for 14 years, and it's still working. The rate of how quickly the water boils has slowed down a bit, but that this didn't happen until it was at least 12 years old. The reason I am finally replacing it with a new one is because the bottom of the interior, where the water actually gets heated, has developed specks of rust, but this literally only happened with in days of writing this review. Scaling at the bottom has been non-existent for most of my ownership, and again, only within the past 2-3 years of the 14, was there evidence of scaling. So, I used a brillo, and it worked, but I noticed now, the scaling builds quickly, like, within two weeks of my scrubbing, and I may have provoked the specks of rust because of the brillo use, so I can't even blame Cuisinart for that. Note: I only ever used bottled water, and never once used tap, but since even bottled water has minerals, scaling is bound to happen, eventually.A review why I chose this model 14 years ago? There weren't nearly as many brands available then, nor were there brands that were as fancy. I had to purchase it at a specialty kitchen shop and it was actually more money back then, and wasn't widely available like it is now. This model was the only one that allowed you to cater the boil-temp, and I was drinking tons of green tea at the time (not much anymore), so it was most important. Also, this is the only, still, that minimized interior water contact with any rubber gaskets, silicone sealing, and/or plastic parts. Far too many reviews of cheaper models criticize them for this very reason, and some even alter the taste of the water with a chemical flavor.I'm just glad that Cuisinart has stuck to the same design all these years. Why change a good thing?Note to the person in the review that says it doesn't shut off; that is not true at all. It totally shuts off once it boil, but it you have the "Keep Warm" button on, it will continue to maintain the temp you chose so it never gets cold, and everytime it meets that temp, it beeps. Almost never used this option ever.
