I purposely purchased this product to juice pomegranate seeds. However, the seeds kept getting stuck under the shield. It did juice, but not as efficiently as I had hoped. It is better suited for ricing potatoes and applesauce. Now on the lookout for a more appropriate piece of equipment.

Well made stainless steel, but the bottom scraper part was made of a brittle plastic like substance that arrived broken. I am a tall woman and found it clunky and wobbly to use. Perhaps a large male chef in a restaurant would have an easier time. The OXO with 3 legs for balance had its hook beat, though it was not as high quality as far as stainless steel quality. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS FOR A WOMAN

Yeah, this is really expensive but will last a lifetime. I'm tired of pressing veggies through my small potato ricer - takes too long and the hot vegetable burns my hands.Cooks Illustrated placed this as the winner on their list of food mills equipment reviews and their reviews are usually accurate. They claimed it makes the best, smoothest mashed potatoes and the unique plastic scraper on the bottom works well.I just received this so disregard my stars because I have yet to use it :) However, wanted to share that Cooks Illustrated claims this has been discontinued. So buy it while you can, if interested!

This food mill allows me to make the perfect consistency of mashed potatoes, creamy soups and dips (bean dip). The food mill is sturdy yet easy to disassemble for storage when not in use. It comes with a handy scraper which attaches to the bottom of the sieve that automatically scrapes as you turn the mill.

I have been researching for the best potato ricer. As it turns out, this food mill is what I needed for my potatoes AND tomatoes AND making applesauce or pureeing any cooked veggie without using an electric appliance! Yes this item is bigger than those small potato ricers. Yet I have space in a corner cabinet that is perfect. I have used it several times in the last month.High quality construction.

I had bought a cheaper food mill and it didn't work as smoothly or as nicely as this one. There were issues with the other one not grinding all of the food. This one grinds all of the food with no waste. I use this food mill all of the time, from mashed potatoes to apples
