Incredible strength, beautiful sound and these are perfect for a slew of genres.A little more percussive for slap than I would really like, but I'm using this bass for more rock/metal anyway.Solid purchase

I've been playing bass professionally for 30+ years and came across these string and thought I'd give them a try. I installed them on one of my Fodera's and was amazed on the overall tonal quality and ease of playing. The fundamentals and harmonics are crystal clear and they're very well balance throughout all registers. I just picked up a second set and my pianist (who has commented on my bass tone numerous times since installing them) has been urging me to install them on my Sadowsky. Way to go D'Addario. Job well done.

These are a perfect fit for my Czech import Grendel GR4 by Michael Tobias Design. The sound from these strings is very articulate and well balanced, as is complementary to the neutral sound of Tobias selected electronics. These strings will remain the only choice for this particular bass of mine, perfect for misanthropic anarchist music. I couldn't be happier with these strings or this bass.
My first impression of these strings were not that great when I first put these on especially considering the cost of these, but these strings just might become my favorite!I'm usually a strictly stainless steel string user and prefer very bright strings, the brighter the better like Pro Steels or Flex Steels. At first they seemed too similar to typical nickel plated round wounds but within a short time, their character changed to a tone I really like. These strings are bright and have a fantastic midrange presence to them. The E string is not boomy, but is well defined and stays defined even when tuning down. These strings have a smooth feel and tension that's not too tight, good for fingerstyle playing.I think it may be too soon to tell if these will the best ... My new favorite strings. A lot of punch without being overly bright. Smooth feel and sustain.I had been using Dunlop Super Bright Nickels which are a great buy for the money but they were a bit too loose and flabby which caused a lot of fret noise when digging in. The Dunlop's also got dull pretty quickly. The NYXY's sound great with the right amount of tension. comfortable and no fret noise when digging in. They are no super bright sounding. If you want a really bright sound try stainless steel strings. The only issue is that there seems to be a few dead spots, but that maybe my bass more than the string itself. Because these strings have more punch, I might be noticing the fret based dead spots. They definitely seem louder than the Dunlop's. We'll see how ... MoreMy new favorite strings. We'll see how long they retain their brightness, but so far so good. The other con is that they are very expensive twice the price of the Dunlop's I was using. Luckily you don't have to change bass strings that often. So far they have been worth the extra investment.
These are my go to strings. They have a smoother, faster finish than the XLs but all the boom. Both are tuned great. They do not have the harshness of stainless but very responsive and articulate.
I'm a guitar player, but needed a bass for recording. I bought a used one a year ago that had been strung up with flatwound strings. I loved the feel and the old school tone, but if I listened to any of my tracks in the car or on my phone the bass just seemed to be lost in the mix. I don't pop or thump or do metal so I didn't need anything too bright. These have brought life to my bass tracks. These are warm enough and bright enough all at the same time.
After 14 years, I decided it was time to change my bass guitar strings. I liked the sound of the old strings but 14 years was probably enough. As an aside I do not play bass regularly so the bass sat most of those years. After doing some online research, I decided that I wanted some nickle coated string to give me that mellow tone that I liked on the old string. With the new strings, I did find that tone but only after adjusting the eq on the bass. What a difference in tone. I had a whole new library of tones. Great purchase.
I have used many brands and models of strings over the years. I have to say that D'Addario nailed it on thehead with these new model, NYXL strings! These are hands down, the overall best strings that I have ever played with on my basses, period! My Wal Mk I bass came alive and became even more of a tone monster with these strings than ever before. I will now be using these strings on all my basses, and I will try the NYXL guitar strings on my guitars as well. Give them a try. Thumbs up!
