D&D - Heroes' Feast The Official Dungeons and Dragons Cookbook

we have tried about 12 recipes so far and about 9 ended up in our permanent rotation. Very few things were a hard pass for us. The halfling chili was not something the kids enjoyed, but with very few tweaks most everything else was amazing. the one dish that required no tweaks at all was the potato and leak soup, everyone loved it. The second on the few tweak list would have to be the Sembian honey-glazed rothe ribs on pg 34, the sauce is now our favorite BBQ sauce recipe. I can't wait to start making these for our gaming group.

Beautiful Book, But Not Enough Pictures

Few recipes don't have pictures or any kind of illustrations at all. It would have been perfect. Also, there isn't anything too creative but your typical Western/European style dishes like ribs, stew, etc. But it was a great addition to my DND book collection. Cooked the ribs, biscuits, beef stew, and a roasted potatoes dish. It was fun. I think the potatoes dish didn't have pictures so wasn't sure if I made it correctly or not.

Best incentive to learn to cook for a nerd

This book got me excited to cook for the first time in 20 years. I never thought to try and make bread before seeing the Elven Bread recipe. Our favorites from the book are Miner's Pie, Bangers and Smash, and Stuffed Egg Battered Toast.

Bring the RP into the Kitchen

This book’s excellent. It’s by the same people who did Art & Arcana, and has a similar high quality production value applied.The recipes are themed based on race and location - so you’ll get human recipes from a specific tavern, Dwarven recipes, etc. There are meat and vegetarian options, and even a section for drinks including cocktails.The authors know their audience; this book is aimed squarely at roleplayers familiar with D&D (and probably Pathfinder, too). You’ll enjoy this book if you like adding a little bit of character flavour to dinner nights, and bringing a themed recipe to a dice-rolling session sure beats eating a bag of chips.Where I think the authors excelled was making the recipes accessible - they know that RPGers aren’t always going to be good ... MoreThis book’s excellent. Advanced chefs will be able to tune these recipes without breaking a sweat, making it good for all levels of cook. The book starts with the implements of war you’ll need, and these are similarly basic; I reckon these may be similar to the equipment a dungeon adventurer would lash to their pack. You won’t find the need for specialised tools, and the ingredients are for the most part things you’d find at your local supermarket (only exception I’ve found is when they call for [optional to add colour] saffron).Dropping to four stars because this book hasn’t been adapted for metric measurements for non-US audiences. You’ll need to keep Siri/Alexa/Google Assistant on hand to convert F to C, lbs to grams, etc., and be familiar with what Kosher salt is (pro tip: this is salt with a larger grain size and doesn’t taste as salty as standard table salt - be aware).I think this book is just a pretty good cookbook all around, and the theming is something that made reading through it - even without making all the recipes yet - a lot of fun. If you’re a huge geek like me you’ll love it, and this would make a good coffee table book or present for that gamer in you’re life if you’re not into D&D.Worth your time.

Delicious and Intriguing

My friends and I love D&D and I love to cook and try new recipes, so when I found this, I got really excited. The recipes look delicious and they're very diverse, so you won't have any trouble finding something that everyone likes, plus a good portion of them are fairly simple if you're not a confident cook.

Delicious easy recipes!

The recipes in this are delicious! Purchased my first copy for my son who loves the d and d game. He made a few recipes out of it which were great so I decided to get a couple other books for family members. Price was great and I highly recommend this cookbook!

EPIC!

The book looks awesome. The recipes sound complex, however are fairly easy to follow and understand. Each recipe has a description that gives it a little history from where it originated from in the D&D universe. At the end of 4 of the 6 cuisine sections in the book, it gives a menu from either a tavern, restaurant, or inn that could tie in with peoples D&D campaigns if they choose. The photography for the book makes the recipes mouth-watering. Definitely recommend. Definitely going to enjoy making my first dish with this book.

Great book for cooks and gamers alike

This cookbook is amazing, even if you're not a D&D fan. And if you are and enjoy cooking, it's perfect for you! I bought this for a friend that loves both and he couldn't wait to jump right in and make something. I even cooked up a recipe myself out of this book; Otik's Spiced Fried Potatoes make a great side dish to any meal!The book itself also has cool little stories about lore, illustrations, and anecdotes from within the Dungeons and Dragons realm. The recipes themselves are fairly easy to follow, despite how involved some can be.All in all this book is worth it, especially for the gamer/chef in your life!

Not just for D&D fans

This cookbook isn't simply a collection of recipes, but it is more than a few recipes scattered in a D&D storybook. The recipes are many and varied, and one is welcome to read the comments linking the recipe to various aspects of the D&D experience, or not. Both types of people can use and enjoy this book. Also, the photos and artwork on each page are stunning and masterfully laid out so this beautiful cookbook would make a welcome gift for any visually creative person as well.

Surprisingly Great Menu Options

Obviously we bought this because every role player should own it. The book is funny and well-written, and clever. But our teenage son, the aspiring chef, has enjoyed making many of the recipes and sharing them with his family and his gamer groups. We each have our favorite recipes. Some are challenging, but plenty are just good cooking. And while there is some alcohol, the book is appropriate for the under-21 set.
