I love using DAS clay! It has a nice texture and good workability. This is the first time I tried the stone color, I usually use white because of decorating purposes. The stone color added a different look to my project. I started by making leaf impressions that can be used as trinket dishes or decor. When using a matte spray sealer, I was able to get a super cool effect that made them look like real stone! I also used mica powders on some of them which were awesome looking on the darker clay too!

Easy to work with. I like the weight and strength of this air clay. It's much closer to kiln fire type clays than other air or oven bake options. It does have a bit of memory with accidental imprints, but usually those can be sanded when dry. Fine details keep nicely.

It's been a really long time since I've worked with clay and since I have no access to a way to fire clay, air dry was my only option. With that said, it's a great clay. It does start to dry relatively quickly, but I didn't find that an issue as I kept my hands moist and would rub it down with a wet paper towel if I needed to make sure it stayed soft. It was very easy to sand once it was dry. I used it to make a simple vase and then also smooshed it into a silicone mold to make roses (which turned out fantastic). As for painting, I found that it took to spray paint way better than acrylics.

#sweepstakes So, I tried DAS paperclay a few years ago, and I couldn't stand the smell of it... But now, some years later, I find that I can tolerate it better than I did. The package even has a label now that says "low odor" fomula, so clearly I was not the only one.. It still has an odor, but it doesn't seem as toxic smelling as the previous formula. I still prefer to work with it outdoors when I can, because my studio does not have great ventilation. But smells aside, I do really enjoy working with this clay. I am not able to do regular kiln ceramics at this time, so DAS is my alternate medium. I got a package of white and terra cotta. I like to knead the workable clay first really well, maybe that's from my days as a ceramicist. But I find that it helps with ... I am not able to do regular kiln ceramics at this time, so DAS is my alternate medium. I got a package of white and terra cotta. I like to knead the workable clay first really well, maybe that's from my days as a ceramicist. But I find that it helps with more intricate modeling and detail. And I keep a spray bottle on hand to keep the clay moist and pliable, even a little tacky. I let my bird sculptures air dry outside for about a week. They don't actually need that long to cure, but I do that just so there is no hint of a smell. Next I am going to paint them with flashe paint.
DAS modeling clay is a dream to work with. It's completely manipulatable, just like regular clay but you don't have to have it kiln dried to finish your product. The air-dry capability (takes about 24 hours) of this product makes it super easy to use and complete a sculpture. It's fantastic. The other great thing that I've discovered is that even once the clay has completely hardened, you can still add to it later. Totally amazing product that creates a great surface, from smooth to ruff, very versatile. It's the best of the air-dry clays that I've come across yet after years of searching and I will continue to buy as many as I can. Love this stuff.
DAS brand quality never disappoints. I had used the terra cotta color and was intrigued by the stone color. It was darker than expected but turned out perfect. Would recommend this product.
The service by Plaisio was excellent and the delivery was right on time. I love the DAS clay, I tried the stone effect for the first time and so far I like it. It is better and cleaner than using molds and cement to get the stone effect.
I turn to Blick whenever we are onto a new art pursuit. Both the vast variety and affordability of products never cease to astound me. This modeling clay has been a steadfast material in our home since my toddlers learned to coil. Many of our masterpieces have been tragically lost to the throws of our youngest. Some have survived and have made grandparents cry with delight upon receipt. If you're making people cry with your art, you know the materials are good quality. My mom got her art materials from Blick, I get mine from Blick, and I hope to pass the Blick devotion down to my own children. #blicksweepstakes
I love good clay. This was great value and just what i needed . You can create anything with clay. I use it to create dolls , littke clay rings to use with other craft projects such as macrame gnomes ...the list is endless .
Great performance material. Dries fault quickly without shrinkage or cracks. Easy to work with and manipulate. Keeping it moist allows for smoother finishes.
