2nd update: the key has been getting stuck in the lock more frequently. Even when I use the graphite lubricant, it doesn't come out. I end up walking away from it and coming back to it a few hours later and suddenly it comes out easily. I'm about to have a new gate made and I'm thinking I need to find another lock...bummer because I really like this one when the key comes out! Update: It's been really cold lately and the lock stopped working on the push button side (I was still able to lock/unlock it on the latch side). Easily fixed by using a graphite lubricant in the lock - good as new after that! The key to installation was getting the hole through the post, straight and inline with equal distance on both ends..The directions, with some intuition, we're well displayed and easy to follow after a few read throughs.The actual locking mechanism however is made of plastic so to make it last, best to be very gentle with it when turning the key. The two directional screw setup really sets each of the three pieces firmly.

Great concept for a gate lock. For the high price, it should have more internal metal parts. The plastic parts also don't have the precision needed for lock components. I had to grind some plastic part to make it work properly. The plastic also flexes internally when turning the key to lock and unlock the unit. I just hope it doesn't snap the plastic shaft inside.

I purchased this lock for my new installed privacy fence in May. The lock was installed and worked great for the past month. Afte about a month it started sticking and the latch would get loose. I started to notice a few of the screws were loose so we tighted then. About 3 times after the third time the button started sticking. Now we are forced to reach around the gate to open it because the latch is now the only way to open the gate. So disappointed. I was really rooting for this product. The first month i was really bragging to my neighbors about it now its just...
I really like Lokk Latch's gate latches. The latches are made of a high quality plastic with a metal latching mechanism. The latch is very easy to install following the supplied instructions. I installed mine on a PVC gate that the old latch screws had begun to loosen in the plastic. The locking mechanism is much better that the old style latches that you would use a padlock on. I lowered my review because of the pricing, this is an expensive but high quality gate latch.
Keys did not operate the locks at all! No keys, No lock, No safety & Security for my family. D&D Technologies has a flaw in it’s process. Home Depot might read reviews, but will not act on behalf of their loyal consumers! I spent the extra $ for what I believed to be a quality product, but did I mention the Keys to the Lock do not matchup. What is a Loklatch if it doesn’t Lok? Now, I am stuck with a $95 door stopper. Will Home Depot or D&D Technologies contact me to fix there issues…tbd
Latch is well built and solid. The instructions are easy and concise. Everything is included, along with a template to attach to the post to spot your marks before drilling. There are a couple options you can set on the latch to allow entry with a key or without. When drilling the latch hole, make sure you are going in straight and not on any angle. Lokk Latch has many latch variations available if this one might not match. You’ll be very happy!

I used this drawing, checked post sizes, gate gap, etc.. with a digital caliper no less all before ordering.Sadly, Yes you can fit it to one inch square tube posts. However, you will be making modifications. I cut of a lot of the plastic and relocated mounting holes and it worked, it worked well. The lock is very nice. Awesome! It will take a house door lock key set and have it re-keys to the house key. The lock is accessed on both sides of a fence door. The install has clear directions and the inner parts need to be trimmed to fit. Will fit all thicknesses of door. The lock looks great and is like a polymer coating on the surfaces. The latch is very simple and no padlock required. Key it to your (Kwik-set) house key. The latch is simple and the whole lockset can be swapped to be on either side of the gate. The latch is like any gate latch to keep the gate closed. Lock is engaged (locked) only with the key. Can’t lock yourself out. I really like this latch lock.
