I purchased this in Nov 2023 and it arrived with a leaking water tank (with a crack on the bottom). It's okay, I just applied for a replacement and the new tank arrived after two weeks, during which time I though something might went wrong thus enquiried again. No replies until I finally made a phone call and the so called "Customer Care Team" only told me (after being chase by the call center service team) that they're the manufacture not the courier and asked me to contact the supply chains while not providing any tracking number or links, very impatiently and a bit rude. Now I've been using the coffe machine for a month or so, making one or two coffes a day. Here're what I found so far about the machine itself -- The dose indicator is somewhat ridiculous, The screen does not even show the same number when you twist the knob to the same position at different times.- The built-in tamper does the work but not well. If you use it with a bottom-less portafilter, you will get channeling every time which only improves when I manually do the powder distribution and tamping.- The descaling indicator seems to have problems on my machine. I only use distilled water in the tank and so far it has asked me twice to descale, which is said should only happen once every 2-3 months, in a tap-water case. So now the descaling light is more of a "Delonghi descaler purchase reminder" for me.- The most frustrating part is the steamer, it's not creating enough steam power I'm afraid. It used to be easy for me to froth nice soothy milk with another machine but with this one, so far I still haven't been able to do a satisfying one. The milk doesn't swirl well in the pitcher thus the big bubbles cannot be broken up to microcream.

I bought this machine Dec 2021 and it has stopped working properly since October. As other reviewers have stated Delonghi requests the machine to be sent back for repair and I have sent it back twice having the same issues. I am now returning a third time. This time the machine was sent back with a cracked bean hopper and two dents at the base of the machine. Not only was it not fixed it came back damaged!!! Th machine is still smoking and leaking around the portafilter. I regret trying to save money and purchasing a Delonghi despite better reviews for breville. This machine works great for 1.5 years only save your money and look at breville! Highly disappointed. If the machine is repaired this third time I will update my review.

I'm a coffee lover and yet no expert. I work for myself from home and have a family of adult children and their partners who can all be harsh critics!! The Specialista has been a huge hit in our house since it arrived. It gets a thorough work out many times a day and has not missed a beat. It has been a pleasure to own and operate and also looks fantastic. Easy to clean and even that feels therapeutic. Everyone has their preferred settings and we enjoy experimenting. There is often a positive expletive when the aroma hits the kitchen first thing in the morning. Fantastic job DeLonghi! It's a 34 degree day - time for a cold brew!
We bought this coffee machine just before mothers day because our current one stopped working. Our current one was a Breville with double boiler and it lasted 4 years and we loved it. When we were in the store we spoke to the salesman who asked what we had. We looked at various ones including this one and asked lots of questions including about it not being a machine with a double boiler which we were used to. They told us that we wouldn't notice a difference because it was only two of us. So aft, er much discussion and comparrison we bought it. We are not happy with it at all. Really wished we had bought the same Breville that we originally had. Waste of $1400 dollars
Was really disappointed purchasing this machine. Previously had a different brand that i actually loved and we thought we were upgrading. After getting 'qualified' to actually work its complicated settings that are meant to give you a consistent brew everytime, it does anything but.One day will be the same beans and same dose, grind, temp settings and go from under extracting, to over extracting the next day. The milk frother does not do great milk at all and is also inconsistent. Some days a very small amount of milk on a setting and other times alot more on the same setting. The extraction doesn't seem to get the same qualitys out of beans as the other competing brand also. I wish we had gone with the upgrade of that brand now.Plus side is the cold brew coffee. ... MoreWas really disappointed purchasing this machine. The Delonghi La Specialista Maestro is a fairly advanced coffee machine for home use and I have only ever had experience with fully automatic machines. It took some time for me to discover that I could book a Zoom call with a Delonghi expert, to learn how to use it the way I want to.I don't drink cappuccino, flat white or other milk-based coffees. I stick to long black with cream and long iced black with cream. My Zoom call with Delonghi's support person, Natasha, was extremely helpful. She explained in real time how to set the grind and dose, which basket to use, how much to tamp and so on. It has MANY features, including producing a cold brew in 5 minutes, something I particularly appreciate. You can also customise the settings using the MY button to create your favourite cup of coffee so that you only have to press a button to produce it on demand. One of the more compelling features of this machine - which I don't use - is the option to create milk foam manually or via the automatic system. If I were a milky coffee drinker, this would be the clincher! It makes things so easy that it's foolproof. It's so nice to have barista quality coffee at home whenever I want. This machine is a real asset to a kitchen and with its multi-functionality and wonderful style, I can see why it's such a popular product.
As an upgrade from another machine from a different brand, the ease at which you get from unboxing to a very good coffee is dramatic. It comes very carefully boxed in a clever way that makes it easy to get out - given this is a hefty and bulky machine, that’s a plus.It includes all the accessories you will need, and very good documentation that not only shows you the set up - but gives you very good insight into how to adjust the machine to provide a great coffee as quickly as possible.I worried the very shallow drip tray would be a problem, but the grinding, dispensing and tamping is all enclosed and carefully controlled - so unlike other manual machines, you don’t get a pile of (your expensive) coffee being ground up and spilling over the portafilter. Likewise - once the coffee is made, there is little or no drip from the portafilter or the water dispenser. My personal preference is espresso, which it does a great job after very minimal effort to make a few adjustments to suit personal taste. From there, the long blacks are good to go from the start. I don’t use it much, but the milk frothing apparatus works exactly as designed and produces a very good foam - never going to compete with a decent and experienced barista, but better than most home amateurs could do with a wand. It is a bit of effort to clean after use, but if you use it every day, you can store it in the fridge without cleaning (other than the inbuilt clean setting which takes only moments) for a few days straight. The unit looks great sitting on the bench, and gives a real “coffee machine” vibe instead of “just another appliance”. All the bags of coffee and glass coffee cups and storage canister was a pleasant bonus, and arrived very promptly.Slightly nit picky things - if you have the machine on a bench set back, the water compartment isn’t visible once it is in from the front of the machine - so until the machine gives you a “sorry, ran out of water - I stop now” message, you have no way to know you’re getting low. It is also challenging (especially when full) to navigate over the top of the machine and into the back. If you can access the machine from the rear or side, your life will be much easier (and have less spilt water to clean up).
Pros: This is a fabulous machine. It recreates an authentic barista experience at home, and looks absolutely stunning. The initial setup required a bit more time than some other bean to cup machines, but it’s worth taking the time to become familiar with the individual components and their usage as a precursor for making great coffee. The water fill is easy at the rear of the machine, and I love that you can see the coffee beans (which makes management of reloading when beans are running low a lot easier). The temping process is easy, and automated well by inserting the arm. The milk frothing and velvetiser process is easy enough, but the time between making the coffee and making the optimal milk setup (for an amateur anyway) isn’t always efficient (I suspect that ... MorePros: This is a fabulous machine. I find it a challenge, and that’s a good thing: I also tested an automatic bean to cup and that has gotten me lazy at making coffees by pressing a button after inserting the milk vessel. This requires time dedicated to its usage, and you can’t just walk away and leave it, but as your skills improve, it’s a much more rewarding experience if you genuinely enjoy making coffee.
My family have been long time users of Delonghi espresso machines and thought we would splurge on an expensive machine this time. We purchased the Delonghi La Specialista Maestro last July and have had problems ever since. The steam wand didn't work and the calibration level of the shots was off. I tried working with their support team and finally sent it in for repair. The machine came back damaged and in worse condition. Delonghi claims it must have been dropped during shipping but refuses to replace it or to refund my money. The water tank is broken, the top has popped up and it is scraped and scuffed. They are requesting I send it back in for repair. Again! I do not want to keep a dropped damaged lemon that I spent well over $1000 for!Come on, Delonghi.
