It's an awesome thing to be able to walk into the house, turn on the bluetooth, and straight up blast the track you want to hear or the podcast you want to listen to. This thing is easy and straightforward to use: it's plug and play using either the HEOS app (which I don't really like or care for but it works), bluetooth, AUX cable for the old-fashioned hillbillies among us (like me and my TV), HDMI, or optical cable. Haven't tried out the USB port yet, which you can apparently also use to play music or other media. I like the simple and sleek design, it does not need a huge amount of space, but I would wish that the blue light goes off after the thing has been inactive for a while. I do like that the light changes colour depending on what you are trying to do ... MoreIt's an awesome thing to be able to walk into the house, turn on the bluetooth, and straight up blast the track you want to hear or the podcast you want to listen to. I do like that the light changes colour depending on what you are trying to do (raising the volume, connecting via bluetooth, etc.). The touchscreen on the soundbar to control the volume is also nice, as it only lights up when you are near the thing itself. The sound quality is quite amazing for how large the thing actually is, and watching a movie is for sure a different kind of experience with this thing blasting the sound. Even though my TV did not have the optical cable input, I can use either HDMI or an AUX cable to set everything up and it works like a charm. The sound stays clear also at high volumes/songs with a lot of bass.As I mentioned above, I am not the biggest fan of the app, mainly because in the little booklet they ask you to start by installing it, while you can perfectly well do without. Then there is the weird thing that it needs your location to be able to connect to the WiFI, which just sounds very unnecessary and is therefore annoying. To conclude, a fabulous thing to have when you appreciate some music and a homecinema-ish experience. It might be a bitt on the expensive side if I compare it to other soundbars of comparable quality, but then again, I haven’t actually bought another one, so I don’t know.

I bought this based of reviews online and never hearing the sound bar in person. All the reviews stated what a great sound bar it was and after having used a Sony sound bar with a subwoofer previously, I was a tiny bit sceptical about the amount of bass such a compact unit could produce. When I connected it up I was very pleasantly surprised about how good the sound is from such a small device. It is by far the best sound bar I have heard to date. I bought the Sony sound bar from Currys and I think they’re displays are bass boosted as the unit did not produce anywhere near the bass on my TV that it did in the shop. So far I’ve watched TV shows and movies and there’s a more than capable sound bar. I have used the Bluetooth function as well with my iPhone. If you were looking for a very reasonable priced sound bar provides great sound that I would highly recommend this one. I bought online for delivery to richer sounds in Newcastle and as always customer service was exceptional.

I bought this on the recommendation from Richersounds. It took very little time to set up, install the app and follow the instructions on the app. I have it installed under the TV and the sound is far superior to the TV. I purposely went for this as I did not want a separate bass, even without a separate bass speaker it has a great sound. I believe you can add one afterwards but I do not think it is necessary. The sound travels a lot better and is very clear. It also automatically set up on my phone where I can play spotify from it, and I did not need to set it up separately.

I bought the 550 Soundbar a week now. Set up was simple, provided you set it up in the right order! (Which I didn't to start with). I connected it up to my Sony Bravia TV and was fairly impressed with the sound, TV and music. However, when I tried to turn off the TV nothing happened! It was only after extensive searching that found out that you had to disconnected Virgin media before connecting the 550, then connect Virgin.Since then, I have been fairly impressed with the sound and simplicity of use. Is it worth £440? I'm not sure, but I think if I connect a couple of rear speakers it will sound better.
Had this for 3 weeks or so. I found it easy to set up and to be honest the HEOS app isn't that bad. Setting up was easy but it did do a huge update at the end which took about 30 mins on a 54 meg line. Having had 5.1 systems I had lower expectations but it is excellent. I have it wall mounted and the base was very punchy, not as low as a subwoofer but not bad at all. The surround and Dolby Atmos effects are excellent and had my partner thinking what she could hear was outside. Very good with music too.The fly in the ointment is the lack of a promised firmware update from Denon. This was supposed to come in the spring and activate Alexa and allow surround sound pairing with the Denon sub and Home rears. Current thinking is the update will not come this year. This was supposed to come in the spring and activate Alexa and allow surround sound pairing with the Denon sub and Home rears. Current thinking is the update will not come this year. SO if you want full surround avoid this unless you know the update has happened. I bought knowing this, but I would have bought a sub and 2x Denon Home 150s at the same time if the update was through. It's a great bar with very poor support from Denon so far. What should be 5* plus is therefore getting only 4* and 3* for value.
I have had my Denon sound bar for a week. The quality of playback for Spotify and internet radio is superb (far superior to the Echo devices I use in other rooms). The enhancement of sound from my TV, both in clarity and dimension, is superb too.one minor drawback is that there are no indications as to what mode it is in. The buttons on the remote are clear and one can press "Movie", "Pure" or "Music" and cycle through the dialogue enhancer settings but there is nothing to show which level it's at other than what one hears so I press the appropriate button whenever I switch on regardless of its existing setting.Overall, however, the device is excellent value for money.
I have Marantz/Heos system in my house and several Denon wireless speakers. The sound bar has less bass than the Denon Home 150 wireless speaker… but for its size works well and plays at a decent volume in a meduim sized bedroom……that said it is no power house and i will be adding the matching Denon Home series sub. Which should help alot. For general tv listening its perfect….music or movies the sub is a must have…period. Overall good balanced sound just needs bass. HEOS wireless works perfectly and streams high res music as long as you have a good strong wireless router signal.
The sound on their sound bar is great. It can easily fill up a moderate to large sized room. Bass is excellent.But...I have fiber gigabit connection and I struggle to keep a couple Denon 150 speakers and an AVR working when grouped together on the HEOS app. Without fail these speakers will drop occasionally even after boosting my Wi-Fi signal. I highly suggest you place these close to your modem if you are thinking about running them off of Wi-Fi. They work great when plugged in via ethernet cable. They also tend to have issues grouping with my Denon AVR through the HEOS app over Wi-Fi.If you struggle with the HEOS app grouping here are a few things that helped me:1) Put your Home Speaker(s) (150s) on the 2.4 Ghz channel2) Put your AVR(s) on the 5 Ghz ... MoreThe sound on their sound bar is great. But there is a lot of work that needs to be done with these. The frequent drops is a problem, and I am tired of being told by Denon that 'it's a problem with my network.'If you get this and the 150 speakers expect very frustrating and often unsolvable technical issues with the HEOS app and Wi-Fi.
I wanted a soundbar that ticked a lot of very specific boxes - not too strong bass (definitely no subwoofer, built in or separate), bass adjustment, dynamic range compression, eARC, Atmos and DTS:X support, HDMI in - and struggled to find anything that offered all of this for a decent price. But this soundbar does it all, and the £399 price tag isn't bad at all. Sound quality is great - you can definitely hear the difference in quality between lower bitrate streaming sources vs largely uncompressed blu-ray/4k BD audio. I hope this can be addressed in an update.
Almost deceptively small compared to the sound it puts out, the Denon Home Soundbar 550 punches above its weight in most categories. Ive had several HEOS compatible soundbars over the years but the Home line in general really refines what makes it so good. If you are not using a HEOS compatible receiver you might have better options but if you are thinking about going "all in" on the Home line of speakers then this is a no-brainer. Out the box you may want to tweak a few dialog settings as it seemed a little slight at first but once i got everything dialed in i was very pleased. Purchased refurbished and youll hear no complaints from me. Happy with the purchase and the item itself equally.
