Available in two sizes, this oil-free moisturiser quenches thirsty skin and works over time to refine rough skin that has seen better (smoother!) days. Known for their high-performing skin care formulas used and beloved by skin therapists, Active Moist is no exception to Dermalogica’s science-backed line-up. Teaming up a prebiotic moisture complex with plant extracts, this duo helps to balance skin, refine texture and add a dose of hydration to dry skin while natural extracts of lemon, cucumber and burdock enhance refining effects. The result? Smoother skin that feels plump and refreshed. For those with oily skin types, this lightweight texture is oil-free, applies seamlessly and absorbs quickly so you don’t have to worry about any greasy residue. Instead, expect a sheer dewy finish on skin that is equal parts radiant and hydrated.

I was drawn to 'Active Moist' due to its many fantastic plant-derived ingredients. My first attempt at applying it was on a morning. Bad idea! I found it did not sink into my skin at all and just sat there, making any sunblock applied over it an impossible task, let alone makeup. I found this unusual as the product is supposed to be oil-free. Thinking I had perhaps applied too much product, I removed it with a makeup wipe and applied even less this time around, but the effect was the same, albeit less pronounced. The next time I applied it was on an evening, at the end of my cleansing routine. This for me was more ideal as I had no other products to apply over this and could let it sink in (or so I thought) overnight. Unfortunately it didn't really sink in. I had a very good experience with Lorena from customer support. I was querying the cost of Youngblood mineral makeup on live chat (excellent product by the way) of which I had bought 2. The cost of the item displayed for sale appeared less than the final checkout price. It turned out the sale price was for a particular color but this was unclear on the page. Lorena looked into the discrepancy immediately and after explaining the reason, offed to give me a refund on that particular sale to compensate for the confusion. She was polite and considerate throughout. It’s good to know that such a fabulous Aussie company has such lovely staff!

Great moisturizer for winter
24 November 2021

This is an oil free moisturizer that provides an extra boost of hydration. It is loaded with so many skin boosting ingredients to moisturize and retain moisture in the skin - Butylene Glycol and hydrolyzed jojoba esters. The moisturizer is a white color with a creamy texture. This does leave a slight tackiness, but it will absorb right into the skin after 30-60 seconds so I prefer to apply this to damp skin before applying my serum – cleanse, tone, serum, tone, moisturizer. This way it better helps the skin absorb the product. If you want it to absorb even better sometimes, I apply toner or mist afterwards. Lovely!

Firstly, the aroma is absolutely lovely. Proper lavender, not the artificial imitation that you might come across in other products. A little bit goes a long way, and two sprays onto a (reusable) cotton pad is plenty. I don't feel anything when applying this - and with sensitive skin, feeling nothing is exactly what I want (rather than sharp tingling or the prickle of a rash). Applying moisturiser afterwards is great, my skin drinks it in rather than it just sitting on the surface. (I use this after the Elemis resurfacing wash).

I bought this on a whim beginning of 2021 when I decided to up my face care game. 2020 I up'ed my body moisturization game so decided to see what I could do for m face. I am 53 and overall have decent skin due limiting sun exposure most of my life and never smoking. I always wanted to try this line so bought a day cream on a really good TSV deal and decided to pick this up for the evening. I figure one of these jars lasts 6 or 7 months so really not THAT expensive. I like the fact that we can use Paypal and EZ pay so we're not loading up credit cards caring for our skin. Suggestion to Elemis though - can you have a chart listing all of your similar products (say night creams) actually explaining how they differ? There is a $315 product that I would try if I knew how it differed from this. For now I am sticking with this. I really like everything about this - how my skin looks, the experience of putting it on, and the luxe packaging.

After chatting to a specialist at the dermalogica counter about moistures and the best for my skin (combination) she gave me a sample of this to try. My skin can also be very sensitive. After using one sachet I knew that I would definitely be purchasing this. I’ve tried lots of moisturisers, all of which have had mixed results. This feels so light and soft on my skin. There’s no strong smell, unlike some from other brands that I’ve tried. *on a side note, if you have a dermalogica counter near you I’d definitely recommend going to speak to a specialist if you’re unsure what product to try. I found that they’ve always given me samples to try and have never felt pressured into purchasing a product.

The best I have tried
6 February 2023

I have really sensitive skin and get breakouts very easily; I've tried a LOT of other moisturisers, with mixed success. I thought I'd finally found the best thing for my skin in Lab Series, but like most brands they don't do an oil-free day moisturiser that either isn't a gel or contains sun screen. I work in an office. A lot. In England. I really don't need sun screen on most days. After reading a load of positive reviews on this, despite the girly packaging I decided to give it a go. It does have a very slight girly smell (i do mean VERY slight) and the packaging isn't as user-friendly as Lab Series or other mens stuff, but the contents really seem to work: - Virtually no breakouts (I don't think any moisturiser will totally solve that) - Oil-free, yet ... MoreI have really sensitive skin and get breakouts very easily; I've tried a LOT of other moisturisers, with mixed success.
