I discovered Derwent Inktense Blocks while visiting the Blick Art store in Tempe, Arizona. Loved the product so much that I came home and ordered the XL blocks. This watercolor product can be used like pastel, blend it with a wet brush, dip the block in water and draw directly on your art. The colors are more opaque compared to regular watercolor paints and are so vibrant. The color remains intense and does not lighten as it dries. I also love that Inktense Blocks travels well which is why I'm taking my them with me to Ireland when I go there next month. #blicksweepstakes. Give them a try, you'll love them.

I was so happy to try these products because I have the pencils but they are waxy and harder to lay down the pigment weird compared to the pencils! They are also a bit smaller than expected! Overall I am happy I try them not sure if I will be buying more blocks but I do love the pencils.
Derwent Inktense does it again! These XL blocks (about the size of their XL Charcoal and Graphite Blocks) deliver the exact same juicy, dense pigment as their ink pencils and ink blocks. The Antique White is even better for me in this size, blending and actually laying down white on drier surfaces, unlike the pencils and blocks. Like the smaller sizes, they are a joy to work with water or mediums (whether spritzed, brushed, or splashed on) and are a perfect layering complement in my acrylic paintings. They melt nicely yet hold up without mass disintegration. The box set of 12 gives you just the right amount of interesting colors, that can always be augmented with your pencil or blocks set. ALSO, tuck an extra Ink Black and Antique White into your drawing media box ... MoreDerwent Inktense does it again! these are some fat blocks! I accidentally bought too small of paper to try them out so awaiting a new size to really get the best making out of them. i assumer they will be great.
