This is NOT a 173 piece set as shown at the website. It is a 50 piece set (51 pieces if you count the case) in the color black. The case latch is very difficult to slide to open and I have "popped" the case open several times and spilled all the sockets each time I have struggled with it.The "Spinner Handle" does NOT hold the sockets. This great compact set that won't take up a lot of room in your tool box or truck. The ratchet works really well in tight spaces, that extra little click you get out the ratchet makes all the difference in the world in a tight spot. Love this mechanics tool set!

Love it! The size of it makes it incredibly portable, and so far it's the perfect quantity of tools that it can solve needs you might encounter without being too heavy or too large. It is really a shame that DeWalt does not seem to manufacture this anymore. I'd recommend this over virtually any other similar tool set.

Few minutes with a sharpie and you can mark up your case, as the manufacturer should have built in to it. Top side up to open is important! In all fairness, top half has logo painted black while bottom it's natural yellow. No idea why screwdriver handle is called "spinner." It's just a perfectly good handle.
I saw this tool set at Costco. My first thought was to buy one to check out for possible gifting to a few young people I know as a nice beginner ratchet set.It took me fifteen minutes to go through the process of figuring out how the pieces in the set worked together. Kind of clever, but not like the ratchet sets I have and use regularly, which aren't designed to work with driver bits.I have a collection of DeWalt power tools and a few DeWalt hand tools...all came with some kind of chart or instruction manual to help get me started using them immediately.Won't be buying more sets to gift.
While the case is a little difficult to open. It is nice and small to carry around the shop. The sockets and ratchet were of good quality. The sockets were of all the normal sizes and the screwdriving feature came in handy more than once.

I just purchased two of these from Costco.I know share the same pain as most of the other reviewers. However, I have a new one for the on-going list of bad marks.I figured out how to keep the screwdriver bits in the bit holder, but... how in the heck do it get them back out now???? The set should have included a pair of pliers included for this operation.... I think.Other than that, many tool cases have the same opening issue. I just right TOP on the top so I'm not chasing stuff all over the floor.
I bought this at Costco, and I was immediately disappointed when I opened it. First of all it was the most difficult outer plastic clamshell package I've ever open. I usually have no trouble with them, but this one took me 5+ minutes to open.The case that's included looks convenient, and it's one of the reasons I bought this set. But it doesn't hold onto the sockets, so if you open it upside down they all fall out.The pictures and description here are incorrect. This is a 50 piece set, not a 173pc set like the description says. And the photos show a black finish, but mine is chrome. But the part number of the set I have matches what's listed here, DWMT81610.

At least the DeWalt is deep and precise enough that sockets don’t fall out of their slots just from moving it around.I have zero complaints about this set and can recommend it to homeowners, DIYers, and professionals who need to keep an extra set that’s easy to grab and go.That being said, there’s always room for improvement. My suggestions for improving the set:1. Include a 5.5mm socket. There’s room for a slot adjacent to the bit adapter.2. Include a female drive end on the spinner handle. While the knurling on the extensions is nice, being able to use a spinner handle as an extension adds flexibility and matches the overall quality of this set.3. Include some common torx bits instead of extra screwdriver bits.4. I’m not sure if the bits are S2 tool steel or CrV. If they are CrV, upgrade them to S2. Then we won’t need dupes.
