The reversible principle for blowing can be used to clean an area of dust, or other is very practical. However, it does not have an automatic unclogging function compared to a Festool, which makes cleaning the filter regular and tedious. Overall, for this price, in addition to the De Walt AIRLOCK function, this vacuum is a good compromise for travel and light construction.

Thus before purchasing my DeWalt vacuum, my expectations on its performance weren’t high. Having had the product for more than a year now, my expectations weren’t exceeded unfortunately. The main issue, as I’ve alluded to above, is that it’s just not very powerful, it just doesn’t suck very hard. To be honest I’d prefer the vacuum to suck twice as hard and the battery to last half as long (like the Milwaukee). Its nozzle is also fairly narrow and doesn’t come with attachments. These factors combined means it’s fairly useless for vacuuming large areas. I find if I need to vacuum anything larger than a small patch and I’m in the vicinity of a power point, I’ll usually just go to the hassle of fetching our large corded barrel vacuum cleaner instead, and plugging that in. So I guess it’s for very small vacuuming jobs outside of the house (and away from power points) where this device is most useful. The other problem with this vacuum is that it’s ridiculously loud. It’s way louder than our big powerful barrel vacuum cleaner. It sounds like it’s revving way too high yet achieving little, like it’s in too low a gear or something. It’s an annoying characteristic because it means I can’t just use it for quick little jobs around the house if our baby or someone else is sleeping. I also worry that it’s damaging my hearing, but the prospect of using earmuffs with it basically cancels out its advantage as the quick convenient vacuum option, which is why I bought it. The tank size is decent, though in practice it’s effectively not as big as its specifications state (1.9L) because the filter cylinder takes up a large part of it. It’s also made of an opaque black polymer, which is a shortcoming because you can’t see how full it is without opening it. It’s handy that it’s a wet/dry vacuum, though I’ve hardly used it for wet things myself. The filter doesn’t seem to be particularly fine either; at 99.7%, it doesn’t achieve HEPA standards (which require >99.95%), which is a little concerning when I’m potentially vacuuming fine lead-based paint dust. The hose is quite short, though I haven’t found this a problem, you just have to move the unit wherever you’re vacuuming, and be careful the exhaust air, which comes out on one side of the unit, doesn’t blow what you’re trying to vacuum. I own a bunch of other DeWalt tools, most of which I love, but I don’t think this vacuum is one of their best products. I see that there’s a new hand-held vacuum available from Total Tools, which I suppose will be replacing this one in their product line-up, which is at least a little more powerful, based on the specifications. However a 54V version would be nice! So overall, I’m a little disappointed with this vacuum, especially at the price.
Great piece off kit. Baught this for my motorhome and works flawlessly. I don't always have access to electricity however with plenty of batteries I don't have to worry about the odd mess my child produces whether it's spilt glitter or spilt milk you don't need to cry over it. Great suction for such a compact machine, there's no need to keep a big and bulky Henry stored under the bed.
The 'new' version of this vac is identical to the last only with a different battery platform. It is very useful if you want such a device especially being both wet and dry although the filters are harder to come by than the vac itself! My previous one had the motor bearings fail so hopefully this one will last longer. There is no stowage for the attachments which is ridiculous given that this is a 'portable' device, I suspect the attachments will get shortly lost again the same as last time. All that said the DeWalt tools are fairly good and i have a few more with this battery hence my buying this one.

The vacuum itself is fairly robust and is easy to use. The tub is easy to empty and the vacuum is strong enough for normal tasks. It is fairly power hungry so a few uses necessitates charging. But what is irritating is the filter technology. The machine is based on old tech compared to modern cyclonic devices and instead uses a click on paper filter. Whilst replacable (budget another £25+) its narrow vanes clog up easily and necessitates laborious cleanouts at every tank emptying. A clogged filter = decrease in battery life and poor suction. Anything in the house is better cleaned with a Dyson. Dewalt Drills - excellent, jigsaws excellent, Hedge trimmer great, strimmer great impact driver super - but this vacuum is pretty poor. Come on dewalt - update this for the 21st century.
It’s a perfect size for what i will be using it for the dust collection bin is easily removed & replaced. It also takes the Flex volt batteries though this does mean that the vacuum doesn’t sit flush on the floor, not really an issue for me. The hose while short does excepts the Dewalt DWV9000-XJ Connector once the original end is removed obviously (easily screws on & off). For the price it’s great value for money.
Great little vac runs perfect with my other Dewalt range. It’s a convenient size has a decent size tank. And will fit the adapter to connect to the power tool range. Great as a little hand held dust extractor or for just grabbing to clean up small messes at home.
bought this as it took the same battery as my new drill kills the battery like no ones business but is strong at picking everything up Have used in a number of projects now and it outperforms my Dyson in regular houseold use. I ended up investing in a better battery to use in this and have not regretted. Handy size to fit well for any task. Good suction power, big reservoir for dust etc. Picks up bucket loads of rice after kids were using it for craft. have used to capture dust when drilling, sucking up dust after sanding, general hoovering in the garage, literally everything. love it
