Very handy compact saw with plenty of cutting power using both 4 or 5 amp batteries. Good handle placement and the blade cover moves smoothly. The blade supplied is of good quality and cuts through most timbers with ease. The blade guide notch on the front of the base plate could be a touch more accurate rather than being centre of a wider gap but all in all you can’t complain for the price of an 18v bare unit that add to your collection of tools.

I'm a keen DIYer and after my corded Bosch gave up the ghost I fancied going cordless. Seeing as I'd owned a DeWalt hammer drill for five years that came with two 1.3ah batteries and I recently purchased a DeWalt multitool that came with a 2.0ah battery, the DeWalt DCS391-XJ on sale as tool only (no battery) was a "no brainer".First the good. It's light, well put together and cuts like a hot knife through butter. Even at maxed out angle, cutting through 3x2 CLS (approximately a 6cm deep cut) it cut swiftly and surprisingly straight until........The bad......the battery went flat. From a full charge, the battery was flat less than halfway through the 6cm deep, angle cut. On the plus side, this is a good and accurate saw which is powerful, light and easy to use. The magnesium shoe is rigid and does not allow the blade to deviate at all from the set bevel even at the rear where this can be a problem in some saws. The blade brake is very efficient, stopping almost as soon as the switch is released. Fitted with a 52-tooth blade this saw produced lovely straight clean cuts in 18mm ply, a joy to use. There are however some rather alarming negatives. The blade guard is rather flimsy-feeling plastic which doesn't feel especially safe and does not completely cover the lower part of the blade when fully deployed. You can see from the photo of the saw above that there is also a large gap between the shoe and the upper blade guard (saw body); ... MoreOn the plus side, this is a good and accurate saw which is powerful, light and easy to use. You can see from the photo of the saw above that there is also a large gap between the shoe and the upper blade guard (saw body); this means that most of the sawdust and chippings are ejected at high speed out of the front of the saw, especially with the blade set for a shallow cut -- if you are using the saw two-handed then the hand holding the front handle will be shotblasted with high speed sawdust. Adding insult to potential injury is the included plastic "dust port" which attaches to the rear of the saw, snug up against the handle and battery: it's completely ineffective, even if you manage to get a vacuum hose attached (the handle and battery are in the way!) most of the sawdust flies out of the other end of the saw and the dust port's aperture is so small it would be a wonder if it ever managed to collect anything. These are not quality issues - the saw itself is extremely well-made as you would expect from a respected manufacturer - they are design faults, and really ought to have been ironed out during product development.

Used for cutting joists and loft boards to instal loft hatch and floor loft. Keen DIYer but first time using a circular saw and instructions were easy to follow. Saw feels solid and robust. Limited use so far but first impressions very positive. Great price from Toolstation.
This DeWalt cordless saw was bought bare for under ÂŁ100 delivered on special offer recently. I fitted a battery & tried to trim down the edge of a 4cm thick wooden door. Struggled with lack of power. A straightforward job became one where effort & concentration were needed. I felt tired when finished. Should have been a knife through butter, so I'm not impressed. Light duties only.
Needed cordless and I already had flex volt batteries so made sense to buy this. Moved to this saw after selling a higher spec corded Makita. The build quality of the dewalt was noticeably inferior, the safety catch is a bit wiggly and the blade guard is flimsy plastic, but overall it’s been a good tool and done what I needed it to do. I’ve used it to rip quite a bit of ply now and the blade cuts really well and because it’s relatively small it’s dead easy to handle. My only real gripe is that the foot width is in inches, which is annoying if you work in metric all the time, so when you’re marking out cuts you have to add annoying numbers to your measurements. Can’t comment on reliability, but it’s a circular saw. A blade attached to a motor, so I can’t imagine much ... MoreNeeded cordless and I already had flex volt batteries so made sense to buy this. Bought bare tool as I already own other 18v tools from Dewalt. Saw cuts well for a cordless tool and shows just how far they have advanced from my old one bought 15 years ago which was a toy by comparison. Used with 4 Ah batteries as it is power hungry when cutting thicker wood . Would have liked a basic case included at the price but cannot fault the saw and its operation.
Solidly performing saw that copes with most jobs, including ripping of 2x treated framing material. Nicely compact and very well balanced making it easy to handle (with that fantastic DeWalt XR grip!). Gets up to speed quickly and stops even faster making it a safer tool to chuck about when working quickly. Depth adjustment is good, as is the bevel but be sure to check you're back at 90 as the 'coiled' pins can bind a little. Also check that the bevel adjustment screw is set correctly before first use as mine wasn't. Obvious limitations are the useless dust extraction (don't bother fitting the chute as it only works loose and doesn't do anything), sizeable gap at the blade-guard mouth and lack of a light to help sight your cut line. The supplied Dewalt blade is surprisingly good for rough framing and general outdoor work, which is really this saw's natural habitat. Sure it would perform well in a workshop too with a finer blade fitted. A really solid little saw and well worth the money if you're okay with the (relatively minor) niggles.
Bought this saw to trim oak boards for a new floor. Solid, powerful and produces clean accurate cuts every time. Equally good for cross cuts and rip cuts - even used it to cut the mitres in the new skirting boards. Comfortable to use. Quieter in operation than some other saws - the automatic brake cuts down on the annoying whine some saws make at the end of the cut. Easy to adjust for different cuts, though the locknut for the width gauge is small and pointy making it awkward to tighten. Overall a great product.
Bought this with a drill/impact driver set. I had cheap corded saw which I found hard to master. Never seemed to cut straight, even with the guide, and made a mess of most jobs. What a breath of fresh air this is. Even with the supplied blade (I’m guessing there are better ones as this is supplied with it?) it cuts quickly through anything I’ve tried. It’s easy to adjust and simple to work.Blade stops as soon as the button is released and it’s easy to keep it cutting straight through sheets of timber.I put a fully charged 4amp/hr in it and it lasted prob 20mins of cutting through 1/2”ply and hardwood planks.. so either a few batteries or a bigger one if you have a big project for it.
