I own two Ducati motorcycles and both have single sided swinging arms ... thus in both cases a single big nut holds the rear wheel in place. Now this nut is torqued up to 235Nm and is virtually impossible to remove with a 1/2 inch breaker bar. Hence the need for a high-start torque 'rattle gun' and with this DeWalt gun it literally laughs at the challenge ... I no longer fear this nut and love this wonderful gun!

This is a very powerful impact wrench and dewalt quality. I already had dewalt tools so made sense to buy this impact wrench. I brought it after using my neighbours. Mine is the newer model with indent ring. It is on the heavy side but paired this with 2ah battery to minimise weight. I would have preferred the DCF894 which is lighter and more compact but was more expensive and less powerful. So it made sense I brought this as its cheaper and much more power.

Top marks to DeWalt for the performance- many manufacturers state 'up to...' on their products which in every day life are unachievable. I have used this unit to take off truck and bus wheel nuts that 'snap on' - at near 4 times the price, couldn't touch.Advice: Make sure you buy 2 batteries and keep the other fully charged; this is a powerful piece of kit and naturally it does use the battery quite quickly when you've got it under high load.The only reason for knocking a star: after just a few months the LED has failed and the detent (that's the pin holding the socket on) keeps jamming. It's still within warranty but the original DeWalt parts (yes, you can buy spares) are only a few quid. I will 'upgrade?' to the DCF899H 'detentless' nose in any case (a simple ... Based my purchase on other reviews and the torque that this wrench has. I’m not disappointed as the power it delivers is awesome. It does really need a 5ah battery to do it justice but the balance and weight are manageable with either a 2ah or 5ah battery fitted. The 3 setting levels are really useful. So long as you remember to change from high. Can’t rate this high enough, it’s absolutely brilliant.
Well ,I work on motorcycles with torque settings on modern bikes ridiculously high , front sprocket nuts and rear wheel axle nuts , that are set at 140-150 fr Ilbs , THIS IMPACT DRIVER MAKES LIGHT WORK OF ALL OF THAT. The best Ive used 950nm ! A nut slayer with Dewalts guarantee . Uk supplier amazing price . Dont waste time looking at any other Impact drivers for your workshop . DCF899 does the job !

I previously had the Clarke 450nm 24v impact gun. Thought that was good, then the charger blew and Clarke wanted about 100 for a new charger. 2 choices, buy another charger or a whole new set and have a spare gun and battery. In the end, I went for this as it has more than twice the torque. So glad I did. This thing seems to use rust as lube! 1625nm of breakaway torque? Yeah, I thought it was a bit far fetched from an 18v battery gun, too. I believe it now - three clicks and it undid a rusted through bolt that was bending my 3 foot breaker bar! The only downside of the DeWALT stuff is I can still hear her moaning as they're not as loud as the gear from other brands. Win some, lose some.
Have bought a couple of these in the past and was totally underwhelmed with them, especially the bosch unit I bought which would struggle taking skin off a rice pudding. On a recent visit to a local tyre dealer, they were using these constantly with a stream of batteries and chargers and they said that there's nothing better for wheel nuts than these. They also use them on stubborn axle fixings and shock mounts, basically anything that is a real struggle to get apart. I was stuck on a particularly tough 19mm bolt on the bottom of a macpherson strut. Hold on, my wife is shouting
Bought this after my old Clarke 240v impact gun gave up on me. I read all the reviews and the big attraction was the claimed power - in real life it has more than I expected and really need. It releases car wheel nuts on its lowest setting, the primary drive sprocket nut on my motorbike on the 2nd setting with ease. I also removed the old tow bar on my Patrol on the 2nd setting without breaking a sweat and they are pretty substantial rusty old bolts. I tried one of the bolts on its 3rd setting out of curiosity, and I'm positive there is nothing on any car this could not wizz off. The only negative is the size and weight, but this is the trade off for the power. You don't need this much power for tight spots in an engine bay - there are smaller lighter but less ... Overall a very nice product. Very powerful - certainly powerful enough for wheel changes, home renovation projects, etc. I'm not sure about full-time professional applications. The 18V battery is ultra convenient, especially if you are committed to DEWALT as a platform. Battery life is very good. The only potential downside is the tool balance. It is a little top heavy, so requires a strong arm for prolonged periods of work.
