It needs more power. I have only used it with 4ah batteries, and it has done everything I needed it to, and well: crosscuts in 2x and 4x stock, rip cuts in single sheets of up to 3/4" ply (including vertical demon rips and a 10'+, 45-degree bevel cut of a roof edge), plunge cuts in flooring, etc. The sight lines are good and the adjustments easy. I feel that the saw tracks much better with a Diablo or higher-end Dewalt blade than the one provided. This is not a faster-than-corded ... MoreBy class I mean cordless, 18- or 20-volt, 7.25-inch circular saws that do not require special batteries--such as DeWalt Flexvolt, Metabo HPT Multivolt, or Milwaukee 12.0ah batteries--or two batteries (Makita) to function. It is true that the DCS570 will not work well on a small battery. I feel that the saw tracks much better with a Diablo or higher-end Dewalt blade than the one provided. This is not a faster-than-corded bionic $400 saw, but it is a very solid replacement for an older, lower-amp corded sidewinder and/or a great addition to a Dewalt 20v lineup. One needs at least the older 4ah or the new 3ah compact (the latter use even stronger 21700 cells) for the DCS570 to perform up to its potential as a solid, all-around saw that can ably handle all but the heaviest framing (rafters) or ripping (three sheets of OSB) tasks.I rebuilt a shed--cut the wood for the 2x frame, ply roof and walls, and 50 decorative 1x4" t+g boards--using only this saw last year and had no problems whatsoever. I never had to recharge my 4ah battery more than once per day, even when doing multiple rips. The DCS570 is a great buy on sale with a free big battery or as part of a kit (I also really like the DCD791, my favorite compact 18/20v drill).

I bought this to add to my growing collection of XR tools from DeWalt. This saw does not disappoint. I was able to pick it up from Lowe’s with the charger/3ah battery pack included. I already have a number of other battery packs so this really was just a bonus. The saw is a major upgrade over prior models where the safety cover is now magnesium vs the prior gen’s plastic. It really does take a ton of abuse and the brake works really well. The light works well but should be angled a bit more towards the blade to provide better light. The only improvement would be a laser sight line that you’ll find on some competitors, but with a good line measured and drawn, I didn’t miss it too much. One word of note, the tool is significantly improved by adding a larger battery. ... MoreI bought this to add to my growing collection of XR tools from DeWalt. This saw does not disappoint. Overall, it’s a great tool regardless of price.

11months in after light occaisional use the saw started to make noise when the blade turns. Then it would only rotate about two seconds and now completely dead. If you use this saw make sure you get a bigger battery. Also the guide plate and the saw blade don't line up. I like the other Dewalt products I own but this saw has been a dissapointment. I don't think I'll even bother sending it back for warranty because I simply don't want to use it.

Finally made the jump to a cordless 7-¼” circular saw. We use this daily and I have no complaints! Plenty of torque and cuts like a breeze. We use 4 and 5Ah batteries and easily cut for a full day or 2 cutting 2x6, 2x4 and long osb cuts on roofs. Comfortable and super stable. I wouldn’t trade it for anything else. My only thought would be for the depth adjustment bolt to have a pivoting handle so that you can swing out of the way of the body. I find that these bolts stretch over time and eventually either don’t tighten or loosen as well. Perhaps it will never be an issue anyway! Great tool, and couldn’t be happier.

If you own the Dewalt 20v platform, consider purchasing this Circular Saw! I own it via purchase of a kit, but really felt the need to review this saw alone. I have owned, used many different tool brands, Porter Cable, Orange tools, Red tools, and many other corded ones.I would put this saw to the test against any of them. The weight, balance, and raw power is second to none. Have I stalled the blade and shut the unit down, yes, but that was on a seriously cupped 2x12 cutting stringers for stairs. To which I feel was much safer than my corded Dewalt kicking back on me!This saw has very clear visibility for the cut line, it cuts straight, and the weight and balance is awesome. Has all the features you'd expect, rafter hook, led light, good t handle, decent performance, and light compared to other 7.25'' circs. The saw cuts just fine but can bog when being pushed through 2x rips. If you slow down a little it's fine. The brushless motor allows for long run times (lots of reviews that show lots of cuts even on a 5ah battery). The thing I like about this saw is the ability to use so many batteries. Didn't notice any extra power using a flexvolt battery but it lasts longer of course using the bigger battery. Compared to the flexvolt saw this saw doesn't have as much power when being pushed as one would expect. Since the PD and FVA saws are same price I'm not sure why anyone would now choose this PD saw. But it is a good saw. Several other things I like is that the shoe is easy to drill through to attach track plates to. I also like that it's lighter than other saws like the x2 makita and Mil fuel so vertical and overhead work is a bit easier. Build quality seems better on the Mil Fuel but it's still a great saw.

I got this to replace couple corded and cordless skill saws hoping I can get the precision and power I need to chew through 2x4s and 3/4 plywood. For that one purpose it's really good, very strong and works as expected. I love the brake.Couple issues that broke my heart:1 ) The lower blade guard handle was chewed deep in the packaging and likely bent in transition. Dewalt I appreciate that this packaging has only paper, but there must be a better way to pack this.2) I'm not sure who in the factory tightens the blade screw - but I was tightened hard! No way to make it loose (counterclockwise) with the included tool.3) Then I was ready to cut - and where do I connect the vacuum? Ok, where is the dust port? Oh - there is none included. Amazing. So I have a very cheap and old corded saw that my wife got in a kit, I don't even know the brand name of it. Needless to say it is not a great saw, not very accurate nor did it cut well. We are in the middle of a bathroom remodel and I needed to cut some subflooring which this did like butter! I've seen several reviews of this saw and the exact same saw in the Flexvolt line and the one big complaint that was mentioned was it didn't come with a rafter hanger like corded saws. Mine, that I just got, same model number as listed here has that hanger. I'm a total DIYer and am well into the Dewalt 20v xr line and not been disappointed in the least with any of the products. I also am not going to be super hard on any of my tools as they are needed on a project to project basis.I will say this, not having a cord made working with this a breeze, you don't have to worry about it hanging on plywood on long cuts, you don't have to move it, pick it up, worry with tangles, or tripping over a cord in a small space. I set me saw horses up in the basement because and didn't even think twice about space.I will say this as well to any DIYer, if you can afford it, invest in any brand that you like of the Lithium ION tools. They are that good, the 20v lines are really very similar across the board and it just comes down to what brand you want to use. It will make your life loads easier for those jobs around the house to just pick up a tool and go do it without running a cord.

Why such a crappy safety!!
15 May 2022

Overall the saw has good power and battery life. It has cut everything I have asked if it was a professional carpenter, but What I don't understand is why they chose to put a safety switch on it that forces you to move you entire grip to activate the saw. The safety they put on the 6 1/2 inch saw is easy to quickly access and start cutting. I HATE THE SAFETY ON THIS ONE! I love most of the DeWalt tools I use, I have 30 of them keeping the same battery for a cordless saw was a priority, but if I was just starting my set of cordless tools, based on this one. I would have gone Milwaukee for the safety switch they went with!
