So far the laser level seems good. I was tempted to give a lower rating because of Home Depot not the tool. Home Depot sold me one the had clearly been purchased, used, and then returned. Home Depot then sold it to me as a new product. I contacted customer service and they didn’t seem to care. Not a good look for Home Depot.

Why is this 1 year old product on shelves. Hard to adjust vertical to line up with object to check plum. Horizontal can only level at the height of object trying to level. And cannot tilt up and down. Basic leveling only and really without a pole or tripod might as well use a old fashion level.

I bought this to layout a wall on a new build. There was no manual so I didn’t no how to correct the blinking beam. By chance I realized it was telling me the unit wasn’t level. Once that was resolved I laid it on a corner and the beam wasn’t visible beyond 20’. I tried a different corner in a shaded area and still no luck. Worked well indoors would not recommend for outdoor use.

Super rugged, I am a contractor and my staff can be hard on tool but this thing is solid. Additionally, I have come to have a lot of respect for Dewalt's customer service, they really go the extra mile to make sure that if there is a problem it gets resolved quickly with as little impact to the customer as possible. My only complaint is that it doesn't work with Dewalt's laser detector so if you are outside in the sun you can't see the beam at a distance, it still works great close up but you won't be shooting foundations with it. If you are inside or in the shade you will have no issues seeing it. Also a tripod is a must, it is pretty hard to get the beam where you want it by tacking it up and though it has great magnets on it I am never in a spot that has metal ... MoreSuper rugged, I am a contractor and my staff can be hard on tool but this thing is solid. I got this to replace a still working, very reliable water level that I had for over 25 years. I wanted to use it to install a 9' x 24' deck between my house an garage. The existing structures shaded the deck area most of the day. On the first day I used it it was very overcast with dark clouds and I set it up on a tripod in the center of the deck area. When I turned it on I thought it was not working as NOTHING showed up on the closest walls that were within 5 feet of the level. As evening approached and it got darker out, the lines started to show up on the walls. It was not until near sunset that it worked for the farthest areas 12 feet away. 55 feet is an obvious overstatement as I couldn't use it at 55 inches. Very disappointed with DeWalt as I used to think of ... MoreI got this to replace a still working, very reliable water level that I had for over 25 years. Very disappointed with DeWalt as I used to think of them as quality tools but not anymore. Also the website picture of the top of the level shows a +/- button that one would assume was for laser intensity but was non-existent on the actual product.
This laser level is awesome. You can mount it to metal or you can purchase a 1/4 threaded tripod to get more benefit. The laser is clear and projects a vertical and horizontal green beam. I wish I would have purchased this level earlier. Buy it, you will not be disappointed.

Enter DeWALT’s cross line laser level—the vertical line that gives plumb is perfect for making anchoring fast, easy, and dare I say it…fun! Since it self-levels, I put the case on one of the beds, put the laser on the case, lined it up with a stud, and since it shines inside the dresser after removing a drawer I had my perfect spot. BAM! Anchored! It was so fast and easy, and since we have a lot of furniture to anchor, it makes the job fast! Every parent, grandparent, business owner, and anyone who has or will have kids in their home or store or day care MUST get those pieces anchored to the wall. The 2 minutes spent anchoring may save a life. Live where there’s earthquakes? No brainer; get this level. It’s so fast and easy, you could take it with you on vacation and do the furniture along the way or at the grandparents’ house when you get there. Watch the video to see what I did, and then feel free to read the rest of the review below. Daycare owners, get this. Grandparents, order this today. Parents of young kids, pick one up now and get that furniture anchored today.DeWALT’s green cross line laser level is a great tool—it’s well made and has a lock for the laser during transport, the over-molded housing is sturdy and has two pieces on each half of the clamshell, so that adds extra “padding.” The rubber over-molded housing ensures the tool stays put when not mounted, and it is IP54 dust/debris/water resistant. Feel free to use this tool outside, even if there’s weather. The case has extra spots for batteries—nice touch. You don’t need to worry about running the batteries down and not having extras, and because they have a molded spot just for AA batteries, they won’t bang around in the case. The laser mounts on a tripod or can hang from a nail or screw, or it can stick up with the magnets on the back of the swiveling mount. It’s nice to have the different options for mounting, and these are what I have come to expect. No surprises.A really nice feature of this self-leveling cross line laser is that it flashes to let you know when it can’t level itself. Straighten it out a little bit, and it lets you know when it has achieved level.I use this level for all the normal projects—hanging wall cabinets in a large closet, lining up recessed can lights, and for hanging pictures and mirrors on the wall. My favorite life-hack with this tool, however, is for anchoring furniture to the wall.
Extremely useful and adaptable - leveling, plumb line, straight line (on lock). Setting blocks for a deck goes 2-3x as fast, laying the first line of tile is very fast and much more accurate (the vertical laser shoots almost straight up and down from the front of the laser level - sit it on a window ledge and you have a line on the floor that's always on top of the mortar, tiles, etc.), and countless other uses.Especially appreciate the flexibility in leveling - put the switch on auto-level, and it will keep a level and plumb line automatically (it blinks the lines if the level is so crooked it can't get to level), put the switch in 'locked' position, and you have 2 perpendicular straight lines that you can put at any degree. What makes it even more useful is the ... MoreExtremely useful and adaptable - leveling, plumb line, straight line (on lock). If you are in direct sunlight (even through a window if the sun is streaming in) then it becomes quite a challenge to see the laser line. It will show up - with some squinting and double-checking on a tape measure in sunlight, but on wood, paint, etc, it is very difficult to see. I don't know if the red color would be better, and I know that the laser can't be too intense or you have eye & burn hazard issues, it is still a bit of problem. The brightness issue isn't insurmountable, though, with a little creativity, and doesn't eliminate the overwhelming usefulness and adaptability of this little tool!
I've had this laser level for almost two months and I can't tell you how much I love this thing! I replaced an old, worn out, inexpensive laser level with this one and I wish I had done it sooner. I've used it to set ledger boards for a deck, installed cabinets in 3 different kitchens, and set complex tiles that transitioned from floor to wall to shower. The green line is easier for me to see than my old red laser and I really like the lockout feature, it allows me to lock the laser if I need a line that isn't necessarily level. It may be hard to explain on here but the basics are this: lock the laser and move your line as needed, unlock the laser and it will automatically level the line for you. Very useful. The other thing I like is the hard case that came with it. I keep my tool trailer very well organized and this makes it easier to put away in a compact space. I can't speak for the life of the batteries as I haven't worn out the included set yet but there's extra space in the case for 2 sets of batteries (plus the set in the laser, makes 3 sets total). Very good product, highly recommended.
I bought this a couple of months ago and used it to set up my deck bearers level and to height. The green laser has good visibility in subdued sunlight or in shadows (visibility range is reduced in bright sun). The beam diffusion beyond 4 metre is noticeable but less than 2mm, because I was building an L shaped deck I had to move the unit and re-set to my datum height 3 times, which was easy enough to do with the self levelling setting. Cross-checking back to original mark showed no discernable errors. The main deck is 7 x 3 metres and no more than 2mm discrepancy off the plane (slight <3mm slope to avoid pooling water) the error factor of the unit is less than the variation in the timber (dressed merch grade). For commercial applications go and buy the $2000 unit ... MoreI bought this a couple of months ago and used it to set up my deck bearers level and to height.
