DeWalt Hose Connector DWV9000-XJ

A great piece of kit. Clever simple design that enables Dewalt 18V tools (probably does other Dewalt tools as well) to be connected to my Trend M class vacuum cleaner. The only issue is; not all the machines have the same size dust output spigots. I had to also buy a set which also contained the DWV9000-XJ.If you want to use say the orbital sander the connector work perfectly. It will not fit the circular saw though as the spigot is much smaller. Battery powered router - perfect fit. Bottom line is the machines that kick out the most dangerous sized dust particles the adaptor fits. Other machines will need the other adaptors that fit into the DWV9000-XJ.The supplier FFX - great company. Good, easy to use website. Definitely not universal

This is not universal, or even close. For the price it should work, but I now need an adapter to use with my adapter. I am trying to connect a 5" Surface Grinding Dust Shroud DWE46152 to a 2-1/2" Tug-A-Long Locking Hose. So it's in the order of: Dust Shroud, "Universal Adapter", Large Hose Adapter, Duct Tape, Hose - and each part of that is expensive, except for the duct tape. If there is a better part number to connect the shroud and hose, please comment it here.

Does not lock on cordless orbital sander

So I got this to attach my new 20V De Walt orbital sander to the portable vacuum.The sander has a small bag attached which locks and unlocks positively and seems very secure. This adapter however uses a locking twist collar and no matter how I try to move this around the collar won't lock on the sander with the same positive click and the collar lock will not close. That said, it will hold tight, just doesn't feel like it would stay there.It was just a stopgap for me until my DWV012 dust extractor arrives, but bit sad with the fit. Usually expect that if you stay within a brand everything interoperates. Does not work as advertized

regardless if the tail end works or doesnt work with various vac hoses, the friggin front end does nothing if attached to the Dewalt DCW210 cordless random orbital sander. why is this thing made and sold?! you would think after all the returns and headache they would just pull this thing from their offerings. i specifically purchased the dewalt sander i mentioned so i could connect it to a non-dewalt sander of my choosing with this adapter. will be returning the used sander as well. not my problem.

Excellent DeWalt Product

I purchased this for my DeWalt 2 gallon cordless vacuum. The original adaptor unscrewed with a little force as there was a dab of glue holding it. I then screwed this fitting on the hose and all original accessories that came with my vac fit perfectly and snug. It has a quick twist connect and release for superior fitment. I now can connect my vac to other saw, grinder, and sander dust extraction accessories easily for a cleaner work area and makes for less cleanup after completing any average job. Although the fitment is quite tight, I still would highly recommend this adaptor for most DIY.

Locks into Dewalt Dust Ports

This thing allows vacuum hoses to lock onto Dewalt tools' dust ports. Requires the manually turn, it's fairly tight, the front to the left or right by 1/16th turn to lock or unlock the locking mechanism. The locking mechanism is 3 stainless steel balls that when locked matches up with the grooves found on many dewalt tools' dust ports. Once locked, this piece is free to rotate but won't pull out. Because it is free to rotate when engaged, that means it's not a very tight seal, though for all intents and purposes it does create a fairly good seal.It is designed to work with dewalt's perform/protect line of tools that have dust ports.The hose end, which attaches to your vacuum, the ID measures 1.725 in, and the OD measures 1.875 in (1-7/8 in). Nickel and Dime

All I need is a adaptor to connect a real vacuum to my DWS779. This adaptor requires an adaptor. If in the true DeWalt nature, I bet the next adaptor will require an adaptor. I will never by DeWalt again. I had quit, but stupid me I returned. Oh, you cannot buy this adaptor from HomeDepot, Lowes, or Ace Hardware.

Provide a list of tools this adapter fits

Hi Dewalt,You're the designer and manufacturer of both the tools and this adapter. Therefore providing a full list of the tools with which it connects should be as simple as a look up. Please provide this list in the web page. This sort of information should be automatic."Fits a variety" is not acceptable from the designer and manufacturer.

Works as intended

Not sure why so many people on here can't figure this thing out. I bought it to use with my dws780, connects as designed, as it does with my cordless orbital. Obviously it's not going to connect to a 2 1/2" hose, it does however work perfectly with ridgids orange hoses. I dunno, some people I guess. Don't let the poor reviews dissuade you from buying this adapter if you have compatible tools.Cheap ridgids vacuum, orange ridgids hose and this adapter and you're all set. No need to buy a $700+ dust extraction system.
